I'm a compulsive fixer. I like to save money doing things myself.
When it comes to my relationship with cars, let's just say it's complicated. I like cars, but they're so high maintenance and take so much time. Most of what needs fixing is cars, so that's the majority of my content.
I like to share what I learn and I love to be creative, so I share these videos with you. These are more educational than entertaining, but with some humor here and there.

Ticking Noise Found

2008 Subaru Outback I found this video I hadn't finished editing from two years ago. So here ya go! I thought it was of no great importance, so I forgot about it. But it has some moments I think you can relate to. Spoiler alert. It wasn't the thing on the spark plug. It was the fact that the spark plugs were loose.
Front Crankshaft Seal Replacement
Переглядів 3653 місяці тому
This is on a 1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6 - the same engine as the Ford Contour V6. Oil was leaking out the front crankshaft seal and dripping onto the exhaust. It was no fun to breathe those fumes. This job isn't very difficult. It just requires a special tool to remove and install the crankshaft pulley. I decided that I was going to use my old crankshaft pulley from the old engine that already...
P0401 Diagnosis
Переглядів 1203 місяці тому
The used DFPE sensor I installed last year failed, resulting in a P0401 code for insufficient EGR flow. Here's the diagnosis and replacement. 1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6. This engine came out of a 1998 Ford Contour, so the procedure is the same.
P0401 EGR flow insufficient diagnosis
Переглядів 2424 місяці тому
1999 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6 There were actually two problems contributing to the P0401 code. (Spoiler alert!) 1. The vacuum hose between the EGR solenoid and the EGR valve had a leak. The vacuum leak wasn't audible and that leak threw me off, making me think the EGR solenoid was bad. 2. The DPFE sensor was bad. Even if there would have been EGR flow, it wasn't reading any EGR flow. 0:00 Intro a...

2013 Ford Flex Fuel Pump Module

The fuel pump module is necessary so that if there's a crash, it can turn off the fuel pump. It's a safety thing, so don't just bypass it. Replace it if it's not working.

The radiator cooling fans were constantly running on high speed. So I thought I had a cooling problem. I replaced the thermostat. No change. I replaced the radiator. No change. I replaced the water pump. No change. I replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor. No change. I replaced the thermostat again, but this time with the 180 degree version. (OE was 192F). This made a difference. But th...

It's a quick brake pad swap, but don't cram the caliper on when the piston boots aren't folding in right. You don't want to tear those boots that protect the caliper insides.

Really appreciate the effort you put into this. Got my old pump off. So far so good. 👍
Great video! I just changed my power steering fluid on a honda element. I'm not sure what happend but I'm no longer getting any air bubbles and my outlet hose from the resevoir is crushing with air after running for 30 sec or so. I can hear the suction as the engines running coming from the resevoir side of the hose. Eventually the resevoir will overflow if level is topped off. I'm hoping I didn't burn any components. Cars off the ground. Was rotating tires with car off, then on. Wasn't driving around town tearing up the pump. Any suggestions what I can do? Did I just not get all the air out of the system..
New manual driver here. Just happened yesterday. Darn
dude, you need to hit that knuckle like it owes you money. you where just tickling it.
Good video! My car is 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS, currently at 125k. About a month ago it wasn’t blowing cold air so I decided to use one of this refrigerant cans and accidentally put to much in the system. Had to take it to a shop so they evacuated the whole system, changed the expansion valve and refilled it. It didn’t seem to work cause a/c was working but not getting cold air as it should. Now I’m having this issue with my RPM at idle when the A/C is on. It also have this little noise coming from the blower motor, but it only seems to happen when idling. Car runs smooth, but at red lights or stop signs RPM goes down and it becomes shaky and then this noise from the blower motor comes out (it only happens when a/c is on). Also replaced the throttle body, coils, spark plugs, MAP sensor, PCV valve because of this rough idle, and right now IDK what else to do with this. Dealer was asking for $550 for just a diagnosis and I don’t trust them anymore, so I’m running out of ideas
@@thatboiiraw First thing I'd check is the idle air control valve. The A/C does put a load on the engine, so idle fluctuations are normal, but it shouldn't seem like it's about to stall the whole time the compressor is on. Also, the radiator fan should also come on while the compressor is on.
On 13 flex does it take 3/8 ratchet for plug?
Good content!

What model Autel are you using? I have the same problem with my 2018 Chevy Duramax and trying to clear the infamous 75 miles until 55MPH. Do not have any codes now but still have the emissions message.
Thanks for video, but i was wondering why there is little hole from the top of the pipe ( in the metal ) ?
Now I honestly see why y'all charge so much for labor a car is such a complicated system I'm currently having trouble with my Buick rendezvous 2004 it's been overheating for a good 2 months now I guess I have ride too long too far while it over heat that it not simply stopped running after 10 minutes of driving 😢 went to a neighborhood mechanic either he wasn't sufficient or my car was just literally a major headache I'm guessing now it's considered a blown head gasket so now I'm just simply trying to weigh out my options should I get a new or should I invest in this one get it back up and running the prose is that it's my first car and I have got comfortable with it and the insurance is fair but on the other hand it's causing way too much trouble a serious question do you think it's wortg getting it repair knowing that the gasket is blown? Or should I cut my losses
I have a 10 lb Sledge with a 12-inch handle. Because of its mass you only have to take a small stroke to make the metal sing. Because it's the vibration that causes the separation of the parts. That comes from an auto mechanic who has been working on cars since 1963. And I love physics. Give it a try next time. Great video
We've replaced 2 NOX2 on our 2017 Silverado 2500HD LT 6.6L (say that once fast) and it just keep saying LOST COMMUNICATIONS. Chevy should be required to replace all of our CHAFING wire harnesses (if that's what is causing that error).
Mine only got out with the ball joint bushing, I had to buy a new bushing, the old one was really stuck
Poor guy likely isn't getting the credit he needs because he tells most of us everything we need to know in the first 20 seconds ❤
Horrible video. Get to the point
I know my videos aren't for everyone, but if you had to replace the water pump on your Sienna, maybe you would find the video helpful. Have a nice day!
Horrible video. Get to the point
All that hammering to get it loose! This is why I'm soaking mine with PB Blaster all weekend and doing this on Monday!
I appreciate you for posting this video. It was a huge help to me in repairing my broken window cable.
Honestly from another video i watched. You made this look alot more difficult by moving that fuse box!😱 I really hope that's not what i have to do! Lol
Lights timing made by All state
my only guess is an ambulance/fire truck approaching there's no way they messed it up that bad.
Sometimes the lights do this after an ambulance/fire truck goes through to reset their timing.
I've seen super short red lights on another street nearby. My best guess is it has to do with the traffic sensors. They can do things like delay the green light when it senses a red-light runner. It's possible the light was about to change for a car waiting at the cross-street, but if they turned right on red, it could have cancelled their green light. Just a guess though.
Everything the government does revolves around planned obsolence. Just like law enforcement requires crime to request higher spending. Its all a business.
John, hello, can I use this video on my channel? Any comment about what happened? Thanks and stay safe.
Gotta send this one to UDOT lol
I put it in flipped then backwards on the 2nd wheel first wheel was flawless, tired I quess
Hey man, awesome video. Happened to me yesterday for the first time in 2 years of driving stick, 5k rpm, 1st to second... Should I be worried? I lasted like half a second and i didn't force it in, it was kinda light..
Exceptional patience and knowledge. I would have lost my marbles…
Thanks for posting. Super easy fix. I had this happen to me today at 127,000 miles.
Thanks for the video. I have tons of success with "Deep Creep" when i need a penetrating oil for auto work. Try that over wd-40.
If I ever need a really potent penetrating oil, I'll mix 50/50 acetone and ATF. The problem is how to store it, and the fact that acetone and plastic doesn't get along very well.
The neighbors are pissed!🤣🤣🤣💀
Love seeing two dads go at it - awesome video
Is this typical? The dealer just changed my nox and pump. Engine light came back on the next day
That looks like a real 'character building' job to do, doubly so on the driveway. I've just changed the PTU oil on my Ford Edge (Kuga in the UK) at 45k miles to try head off this problem. I don't want to be doing this job !
Great video and camera angles as well as very well explained this video needs more views
This is how you make a very hard job easy, by staying positive and consistent. Great job Andrew, thanks
I just did mine and I didn’t remove the cat and I bend the metal too
Tie rod castle nut torque for the f250 is 85 ft-lb, not 67.
Outstanding video in every way. You are one brave guy, especially doing that in the driveway. Thank you for the most comprehensive video on this hard-working little driveline assembly.

Hi John . Thanks for this informative video, It really helps one understand the technical aspects of the transmission. By the way, recently I forgot to depress the clutch and shifted into a gear while my brand new car was stationary. This caused the instant grinding noise. Would you please let me know if my car's transmission / engine will continue to perform without an issue for the rest of its life , taking into consideration that such accidental yet occasional grinds could still happen to my car's manual transmission in the future ?. Thanks !
So this is the reason why 1st gear is nearly impossible to engage at higher wheelspeeds? Because the force to synchronize at the speed difference is too high?
this is such a good video. You are meant for the camera. The music is not needed though
I remember working at a ford dealership and every mechanics least favorite job was trying to locate a strange noise on a vehicle. I’m so glad it was basically the first thing you checked 😂
Good video, however the margin of error when attempting that sort of at-home alignment is greater than the spec range. It's enough to get you down the road (but so is just counting turns) on your way to get a professional alignment.
I learned that those 2 bolts you were having the most trouble with if you go from under they're easier take off your wheel and the plastic cover and they're right there I did it with a 13 mm ratchet wrench way easier
I have accidentally done gear grinding two times when I shift to first gear since bought my new car. Is there any point of concern?
I wouldn't worry about it.
I got the same one and I actually had to return it because the filter was clogged and not letting any air pass through. Thank you for this demonstration. Mine wouldn’t do the same.
I have a 2015 Ford Edge AWD with only 65k miles on it that is leaking from the PTU now. I must admit you did a great job. However, this is more than I have the patience to tackle. Not to mention, I'd need to buy some new tools. Mine unfortunately is going in for the repair.
Good video. I get a le error on mine. Any ideas. I cleaned the pressure switch siphon . I have a slight noise when I turn mine. After your video I think I'll replace😂
