This EP could've been a great opportunity to give evil/mischievous Sims something to do like sabotage others Sims dates, be a serial catfisher, be a dine-and-dash dater, or go to a cheating lover's house and break their stuff. Sims needs to embrace rewarding bad behavior
fr, i don't play with sims with bad traits or personalities not because i wouldn't love to but because it's boring, not rewarding and there's not enough chaos in this game.
And you can't even catfish, the game only allows you to put the traits you actually have, including reward traits, but you could catfish and be catfished in TS3

@@dorelie9354 True, also they are never discounted very much like 30% off is the highest discount i have ever seen on steam which is still not a lot with the sheer amount of DLC packs. Even then a price of an expansion or game pack even on discount could get me multiple games on a steam sale instead. Or like recently I got baldurs gate 3 for £35 in the summer steam sale, that is literally the price of an "expansion" pack. It also sucks there is no console/pc shared account system, i have many DLC packs on console but have to rebuy them all over again on steam which I just will not do. At this stage maybe they can go like how Frontier does it with a monthly subscription to give access to everything but that should be no more than £5 a month
They turn everything into a horrible task instead of the fun quirky chaos that the older games had in them. It should be fun to go on a date in a game, not a stressful chore.
Exactly They also want to let you make every single possible decision where you have to tick 500 boxes, and even if you do anything that may cause some consequences it'll come up with a popup asking you to confirm again, and it's literally impossible to die or go broke lol. I feel like a game is trash when they want you to "make" all the fun yourself... like there's no game.. you have to read popups and imagine (Speaking as an sims3 and sims spinoff lover lol)
i think you just summarized why i prefer revisiting the sims 2 over playing the sims 4...playing the game and having to make it fun feels like such a chore to me 😭

Honestly the date options are by far the most disappointing and infuriating. Like wth?! No new date options in this pack, no new lot types, barely any activities from other packs,... Like what are you supposed to do? The same shit you do on normal dates? Then what is this pack even for!?
Yeah but if they did that people would complain that "you need all packs to enjoy this one fully" It takes them time and effort and it would be controversial. They just should have added NEW activities for dates!
Since this EP's theme is about love and romance, it could have been better if they also included gameplay to other life stages like children can experience puppy love or crushes, teens may experience "first love", adults and elder sims can have the sugarparent trait/aspiration.... Also apart from the heart-shaped tub missing, it's also a crime that they also forgot to include a kissing booth in this pack... So many missed opportunities
This pack deffo isn't about romance. It's about sex and kinks, they just couldn't openly say that cause they are pushing the boundaries of child friendly as it is 😂
When I heard the pack comes with an attraction system, I expected an actual one. Not a "Ooo you wear a blue T-shirt you are hot!" like, I still can't get over it and will probably never.
Wicked Whims already gives your Sims a more complex attraction system anyways, don't need some stupid cheesy dating app from EA. Also LittleMsSam's SimDa dating app is way better XD

My protest moment was not buying the horses and any other pack after that after being disappointed with cottage living. Do you know how bad I want those horses? But my hate for Ea is just so much greater……
I’m being genuine when I say this, I played the pack for twelve hours last night because my neighbours were partying and I couldn’t fall asleep, this pack isn’t as bad as he’s making it out to be. I came across no glitches, and the gameplay was pretty in depth; with the ring bear and 7 dates challenge I was entertained for a while. The dates work perfectly in my experience (I might be lucky idk) and nobody interrupted the date my sim had with Don Lothario and they were sitting across each other for the entire date, the other eight I had worked just as well. Compared to the other new packs I think the gameplay is pretty good and polished.
The necklace... I meann, what are the chances of them to just... by _coincidence_ to make the same exact necklace as Satch? (squinting my eyes rn) this is soo sus. 👀
If EA got the details right, they'd get away with more cash grabby things. Like make all the builds 100% playable, tag all the build/buy and CAS correctly, make collectible spawn points, make the lots touch the pavement and make the gallery photo side make sense. These things cost no money, but they consistently get them wrong and it shows they just rush everyone and don't care 😢
They should’ve done the dating apps pictures like how the autographs or photo booth pictures are done. It’s just a preset thing with the sim popped in and it looks good. Just give the player a couple of poses to choose from and it’s good
This sounds like a gamepack, but they would definitely milk it out to be an expansion pack. Even tho there's no gameplay, BUT you can sit on the couch, on the chair, on sofas, WOW! And while sitting, you can also talk with other sims, and you can enjoy the view while sitting etc. So I was thinking about 'Comfy Living' to be a more Sims4 appropriate pack😉😊
Let's have a yard pack so grass grows and you can use lawn mowers. If you want something other than maybe two mowers, you will need to buy another stuff pack for riding mowers.

The last one I've gotten was "Cat's and Dogs" and only because "my first pet stuff" was free that time. I will never get anything else. Because there is nothing good to get anymore. The new stuff is half assed, the old stuff needs a makeover and everything else performs like shit once you get all. This game will break itself one day. The only stuff I am getting are the free kits now. EA won't get another penny.

@@sophieceleste4771 (and anyone else who thinks that there are no worthwhile expansions lol) Obviously your choice - I never planned to play TS4 at all, and would not have had I been able to keep playing TS3. However now that I am playing it, I am CERTIAN that the addition of a few packs makes a massive difference to gameplay. I initially tried playing just the free base game, but got bored immediately. My first expansion was C&D, then added the others in my top 5 list. With no expansions TS4 is akin to going out to dinner and being given a plain piece of bread - no butter, no meat, no cheese....just a dry slice of bread - it WILL keep you alive, but it is not enjoyable at all, and a steady diet of this is so dull as to be pointless. However IMO a FEW packs are actually worth the money & DO add considerably to gameplay. I only recently started playing TS4 (though had previously played 1, 2 and 3 - reason for TS4 was that unfort my computer stopped paying TS3, very disappointing) which IMO is a benefit as at this point I can watch mega reviews etc. before buying anything. The packs I think are worth getting are: 1 - Cats & Dogs - because I love cats (not so much dogs) & because the neighborhood* is excellent 2 - Get Together - Best (and largest) neighborhood* in the game, adds Cafes, Great Build mode stuff. 3 - Snowy Escape - Japanese inspired setting, wonderful CAS, lots of opportunity for off lot exploring, festivals, (finally) authentic looking Asian Sims. 4 - Seasons - because Seasons are essential unless you live in California. 5 - City Living - because a very distinctive and different neighborhood with more opportunities to get to know neighbors (apartments) , adds a lot of variety to the game, wonderful CAS, and even MORE festivals! I found Cottage Living, Island Living & Eco Lifestyle a bit disappointing. I don't have or plan to buy Get to Work, Discover University, High School Years, Growing Together, Horse Ranch, For Rent or Get Famous - In most cases due to poor reviews. *They are NOT really "worlds" as in TS3, as unlike in TS3 your Sims can easily travel between them.*
Not only it has no depth, but also they reworded features from base game and called it new. For example: two aspirations that exist since base game Serial Romantic and Soulmate. That’s just the same as Romantic Explorer and Paragon Partner. It’s literally the same. And the reward for Serial Romantic is Player making the entire boundary system null and void. Just give two sims a player trait (how is that even a reward for serial romantic? Wouldn’t a reward affect the sim with the aspiration instead of other sims?) and you have an open relationship. One of the new traits is lovebug, but we already have romantic in Base Game and noncommittal. No new venues, no new craftables, nothing new for kids or toddlers. Dating app is basically slightly changed social bunny and equally shallow. You are paying $40 dollars for a new world, a rabbit hole, 2 refurbished, re-worded traits, 2 existing and re-worded aspirations, shallow dating app, 3 new objects with minimal animations, another addition to an already cluttered and illogical interaction wheel, turn off and turn on es that are just additions to existing preferences. They also gave you the pleasure to kill non existing jealousy (since sims don’t don’t actually react to cheating as it is) and called it open relationships. Except all relationships in sims 4 are open because sims are mindless, poorly coded, little effing happy clones. EA is selling this expansion with less features then a game pack and refurbished reworded existing content. It is absolutely disgusting. At this point I need EA to clearly define wtf the mean by expansion. Because if it’s smaller than a game pack it’s not an expansion.
And not to mention that going on dates is not enjoyable. like you have to do things during a time limit, exactly the same for get to work or base game dates

It’s renamed with base game features. Traits exist, aspirations exists, rabbit hole are not game play, preferences exist, no new venues, no activities, no craftibles. There is nothing in this that is really new or fun
I'm really mad that they didn't make the lashes basegame. feels like they did that to spite people who play with CC so when people like Kijiko update their lashes to use the new lash layer, we feel like we have to buy the dang pack. joke's on them, I refuse to update until Christmas

As soon as this EP was announced, I knew this would be a disaster. A pack focused on sim social interactions - in a 10 year old game with horrible, outdated townie AI. Especially in combination with the 70+ DLCs, which make the unstable AI even more prone to bugs and glitches. At this point, I'm only looking forward to Satch ripping the new packs apart :D
The missing doors are hilarious 😂 Also completely agree that there is no reason to have vacation rentals in some of these worlds. San Sequoia has one too. Why would I ever send my sim on a vacation there 😭
Actually, I bring all my families with kids there to gain an infant milestone of vacation and all of the other rentals do not have anything to accommodate a baby or a child, let alone an infant... 😂😂😂 but yeah, it is the only reason tbh.
Most of the vacay houses can be turned into normal house with no effort. I play world restricted style. So like my Sulani Sims live in Sulani, San Sequoia would be novel and different for them to vacation. Also families split over time so when they come into town to visit family, they stay in a house they rent nearby.
the more expansion packs they release in such a short time, the faster the hype dies down for them. theres seriously not enough content in here to upsell it as an EP and same goes for last years EPs. People stopped caring about For Rent after like 2 weeks or so and I think the hype for lovestruck died before it was even released
I think one of the good things about for rent is that you could have more places/“lots” to house sims in… but this pack literally adds nothing to the game😓 idk why other UA-camrs were so hype about it
@@Irelapsedd Lilsimsie apparently played 40 hours of this pack and really liked it. I don't know how lmao, I guess she's just desensitized to how bad the game is getting. I definitely don't trust her reviews anymore because despite her saying they haven't bought her opinion, she gives every pack reviews that are way too good. Plus she hasn't addressed the major glitches from the pack or from the update, as far as I'm aware. Satch is honestly the only person I trust at this point. Although, James Turner actually did say that he thought the build mode was only a game pack's worth of stuff, and he has a creator code, so that's something.

Unfortunately, a lot of the simmers on UA-cam oversell the good sides and downplay the negatives when it comes to new packs. I appreciate his honesty and it saved me some money (not buying severely broken packs).

Genuinely hyped. But that doesnt represent the average player who onlyl has a couple of packs, doesnt do this as a job and also has to pay for their pack
when u said it took u just a few hours to get thru the ENTIRE pack.. man THIS is why i switched back to playing the sims 3!! i literally can play for daysss and and barely go thru the entire content of the pack. i wish the sims team perspective of the game would go back to what it was. ive been wishing for a while for a remastered version of the sims 3 :(
I did the switch too, I have already played almost everyday for two weeks straight and my sim is on long lifespan and I still havent gotten through the adventure pack 😂 but any other sims4 pack I could get through in couple hours
I fully think this would have been 20x better of a pack if there went for Paris or a Venice-inspired world, imagine how pretty it would be and how fun it would be to have your sim exploring one of those cities and looking for love, a coffee shop would be a good addition as something so simple should not be in one pack only, perhaps some ruins you can explore and have real gameplay with like jungle adventure, maybe it would even take you to a hidden paradise world. I think with a pack this simple there NEEDS to be other elements to it, a historian career linked with ruins, a modeling career, actual night markets and festivals, the sims team has 0 ambition and i think they really missed their chance a great EP.
Right?! How cool would it have been if they centred the pack around activities you could do on a date and the lots/venues that come with it. There could be a cooking class, a cinema, a Parisian style coffee shop, a pottery class, a zoo, actually function picnic dates...oh, how cute would a mini golf date be! All to a romanticized European backdrop! And they could have made live careers as one of these class's teacher or the cinema or zoo. And you could choose to decide to help or ruin someone's date whilst you're at work!
@@RobRossiFan then they dont need to be making EPs lol and charging 40 dollars for it. That was all possible in one pack in earlier sims games, also I didnt mean they had to do it all, just certain ideas that could be implemented.
As soon as I saw this pack I thought, I don't need it, because I use mods that already have all these features. Now seeing your review I'm even more convinced to not get this pack because of all the bugs and annoyances you mentioned. I literally think that EA has copied ideas from mods and their execution seems to be really bad. Thanks Satch for giving us these honest reviews. I won't update the game and will use my romance mods instead of buying such a crappy pack.
Imagine if instead of all this nonsense, they made a pack full of date activities. They could have done a whole bunch of new lot types that you could go to on dates. A cinema, a cooking class, etc. They could have taken the opportunity to add so many more activities that the game desperately needs. Maybe even throw in a few live careers at these venues. People would have bought it even if they didn't care about romance in particular.
When I think romance pack I imagine the concept of being wined and dined, going for walks hand in hand, rose petals, sending gifts such as jewellery, flowers. Paris or Venice world Gondola rides And what we get is pandering, San Myshuno with a "Mexican" twist. And Sims sleeping around with or without getting "jealous" I'll pass
Different strokes for different folks on the choice of cities (love Venice despite the sewage smell, and there's an entire syndrome named for how disappointing some people find Paris to be), but I'm curious in what way you think this new world is "pandering".

@@thetachiban57 Not sure what San Myshuno has to do with this aside from being an urban area, but Mexico City (on which Ciudad Enamorada is based) is an amazing destination for couples. Saw more PDA in a week there than in either aforementioned European city. 😂

Yeah, this pack is basically just a couple of mods put together + they made it so micro-managy when all the little things could have just been a couple of boxes you could tick on/off.

@@redram6080 Sims 5 can go to hell.... At this point i don't trust the creatures who are currently employed at sims studios. The only options there is for me is if some people leave the sims team and they get fresh new people, and them doing dramatic left turns with the franchise from what it is now, or me going back to past sims games that i actually had fun in, or me continue waiting for a worthy life sim that don't disappoint or bore the hell out of me.
after an hour and a half of gameplay, i had completed the entire "expansion" pack. i was honestly dumbfounded because other sims youtubers and sims players adore the pack. im glad i can 🏴☠️ packs so i did not waste $40, luckily.
It's listed as $55 CAD too which I'm pretty sure is a price increase because I don't recall it being NEARLY that much for past expansion packs. This is honestly such a ripoff. Oh, and I know for a fact they increased the price in AUD and NZD too.
100%, I enjoy other Sims content creators but I feel like most of them don't talk about the "bad" parts, and only focus on the good stuff. I usually only trust LGR and Satch if I want to buy a pack. James Turner is also good though. This pack is such a flop and if anything its hilarious watching Satch tear it apart 😂
That's what I was saying when For Rent came out... new events are not new gameplay if there is nothing new to do during the event. Great, you can customize dates, but you could already do all of the same stuff you can do now.

they missed an opportunity to expand the selfie camera with effects, better lighting, maybe better skills related to that. Could have added tons of poses too

I just wanted to mention - those are not gimp suits. The world is based on/inspired by Mexico and those are based on the outrageous and sparkly traditional lucha libre wrestler outfits, which I'm not sure if I feel is weirder or not. I'm sure the sims team was aware of the kink imagery they were invoking creating those outfits, but technically not a gimp suit and mask, which generally covers everything sometimes with a zipper for the mouth and even eyes. It's kinda sad because luchadores are so fun and colorful with ridiculous backstories that put American wrestling to shame and the mask is such an iconic part of it that removing someone's mask during the bout will get you disqualified. They even sell duplicates of the masks as merch and my little brother ran around the living room doing "wrestler moves" wearing the mask of whatever wrestler was his favorite at the time when he was little. So, yeah, not a gimp mask.
It's my birthday and I just upgraded my laptop and was thinking about getting this pack... I'll wait and go back to the Sims 2 and 3. But this video was absolutely hilarious 😂 you made my day!
I live in Japan and they decided that the Japanese game price has to line up with the US price, so expansion packs cost almost 50% than what it did one year ago (went from 4000 yen to 5800 yen). Meanwhile salaries haven't gone up at all in Japan, just the value of the yen has decreased compared to the dollar. I could maybe justify the price before considering my income and the amount of time I spend on the game, but now it's just way too pricey.
Long time ago that everything CC is way better than anything that comes from EA, CC creators and modders are the ones keeping this game Alive, which says alot about the company 🥲
I think they dont test the game with all packs installed, the early access youtubers had almost no glitches in their little preview of the pack, but the released version is fully broken
There was so much more potential here, they could’ve added loads to justify the price. Off the top of my head: Kitchen set, bathroom set, heart hot tub, new community lot type, physical attraction, risky woohoo, new date activities, actual new formatting instead of reused concepts, live careers instead of rabbit hole (that would’ve been so fun), less chairs, less decals (I mean what’s up with that!), more ‘normal’ furniture, functional dumbbells and an actual functioning dating app. In summary, I like this pack but I’m underwhelmed.
I feel like it would’ve been better to do an attraction based on the style of clothes rather than color. Like maybe they’re not into goths, but they’re into jocks, so wearing sporty clothing would give them a level of attraction.
I kinda trust Satch's reviews more versus lilsimsie's (or other simstubers who only reviews the early access) because she only reviews the early-access-basegame-only version.
Limiting yourself to only one online stranger's opinion is a bit odd? I respect how he holds nothing back, but there are other simmers with nuanced opinions too - like Plumbella. She regularly talks about not just the good, but the bad parts of Sims stuff.
Sims is getting obsessed with making these complicated “systems” and “relationships” that honestly seem redundant now that the game has been out for so long now. We have already been using our imagination for 10 years to pretend that a mother and daughter have a “Difficult” dynamic or that a boyfriend and girlfriend are “Steamy”. They try to dress up these systems as such impactful gameplay when really it makes no difference with how your Sims act. If you remove all of those relationship systems from the game - familial and romantic - it makes absolutely no difference.. but they put a price tag on it anyway
I feel like ALL expansion packs should come with a new kitchen and bathroom set. If you can’t make a home without using a base game kitchen, then it shouldn’t be an expansion.
If this pack added hotels than it would of been great. CAS and BB are really good. The lack of gameplay however makes this pack not worth the price so not buying it.
This seems like a background pack. You dont buy it for the world or even the items really. You buy it for the "updated" sim romance and decent CAS items. Definitely a game pack. Lol
There's already a mod that replaces the outfit colour category with physical features! 😆 It's called "Improved Social Compatibility + Physical Features replacement addon for Turn-Ons"
I remember when Get To Work was released and i spent DAYS completing all the careers and playing with the retail system, contrast that to today with lovestruck i felt like i finished the pack in maybe 2 hours 😕
It makes me even sadder that Life By You was canceled despite being almost finished. It would have been competition against EA, an alternative. Even if it was worse, we could break the monopoly at least, make EA less lazy.
kiara sims makes great active careers. i wish there was more active careers in every expansion pack. you should have told them dating activity ideas for this satch!
The problem I have with these "get to know sim" questions is that although they seem realistic, they're incredibly boring game-wise. It takes one click to learn everything you need about a potential partner. You don't get an in-depth experience of getting to know a sim if you have to click like three interactions with the same talking animation to complete this stage. I wish they added a challenge to it, like that you would only be able to learn one piece of info from just asking and would have to find out the rest through game interactions (and some would only surface over time, like jealousy or a love language), or based on some traits certain sims would be unable to tell you certain things right away, so you'd have to interact with them more to find out (perhaps they don't trust other sims, perhaps they're exploring themselves..) Not only it would add some actual gameplay, it'd also make building relationships slower and thus make them more meaningful. It's not like you can fully get to know your partner with just these questions irl, like yeah they're important, but you gotta actually try and see how it truly works out for both of you... I was also looking forward to the addition of unrequited love as it also adds a challenge to the game and creates potential for drama, but I'm disappointed that it's not implemented even with the 'improved' compatibility system. So what if my sims are incompatible and one of them dislikes the other? I can technically still make them work if I want to, like it always have been. So this silly menu with the basic questions feels unnecessary and cringey and the entire dating system kinda doesn't make sense since it's incompatible with how in-game relationships work in general. Cool 🔥
What drives me crazy is like fine whatever you don’t want to do body type or age because some people might not like it but like EYE COLOR is right there. WHO even thought of outfit color? There are two base game lashes which look like literal caterpillars, and then there are two from this pack which.. also look like caterpillars. I'd still go for the CC ones any day.

The fact that The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 had on average like 8 game expansions each, yet still provided more gameplay, more fun, more stories than the 15 packs of Sims 4s is just ridiculous. Maxis out so much love in their game and EA has tarnished it.

oh i'm EARLY 1:04 they think that because it's true sadly 16:47 I REALLY WASN'T READY OMG they coded that so horribly 20:00 again that was NOT stolen, it was in one of the other sims games 24:39 somehow that's the most frustrating thing i've heard in a long time; yeah cross-pack is sh*t with this pack i love the cas items and the theme of the build/buy items (they could have added kitchen furniture and the heart-shaped hot tub though) especially because of how different the items are from other packs, i just wish they would have done more with the world and the gameplay. they definitely could have added more lots in the city area as well as actual apartments. they could have also given us functional hotels and made the consultant career, not a rabbit hole. imagine if our sims had their own office and had to ask the couple different questions and actually try to solve their problems and if you aren't paying attention or u just don't care/feel like breaking them up your choices could instead ruin their relationship. this had the potential of being an amazing pack.
just putting it out there, the autonomously asking your sim to move in get married ect isn’t new. that’s not something behind this pack for anyone who didn’t know or was most wanting this pack for that aspect. i’m not sure if it came with a specific pack or an update or pack update but yeah, it’s been there for a while now :)

Im going to be Frank here...The sims community deserve this pack. They have let EA get away with nonsense for so long. Why would EA do anything different when so many people will still gladly just buy this pack regardless.
I would've loved new dynamics but I was worried it would be as horribly implemented as the Growing Together ones were: One interaction gives a prompt to change the entire dynamic or doing something when you happen to be in a bad mood prompts to hate it. Looks like it's exactly what I thought it would be. Thanks for living up to my incredibly low expectations, EA.
My biggest warning to people is that it’s HORRIFICALLY bugged; it nearly bricked my Xbox when I was playing it, and I’ve seen others get their saves and game files corrupted and not recoverable. If you haven’t bought it yet, WAIT until the release a patch - yes it’ll be a while, but TRUST ME!!!
I agree on the lack of masculine clothing. The masculine clothing options are limited as-is, and you can always choose feminine clothes for men anyways. It’s to the point that I can’t even make proper tomboy femme sims because of the lack of masculine clothing?

This EP could've been a great opportunity to give evil/mischievous Sims something to do like sabotage others Sims dates, be a serial catfisher, be a dine-and-dash dater, or go to a cheating lover's house and break their stuff.

@@dorelie9354 True, also they are never discounted very much like 30% off is the highest discount i have ever seen on steam which is still not a lot with the sheer amount of DLC packs. Even then a price of an expansion or game pack even on discount could get me multiple games on a steam sale instead. Or like recently I got baldurs gate 3 for £35 in the summer steam sale, that is literally the price of an "expansion" pack.
It also sucks there is no console/pc shared account system, i have many DLC packs on console but have to rebuy them all over again on steam which I just will not do.
At this stage maybe they can go like how Frontier does it with a monthly subscription to give access to everything but that should be no more than £5 a month

Since this EP's theme is about love and romance, it could have been better if they also included gameplay to other life stages like children can experience puppy love or crushes, teens may experience "first love", adults and elder sims can have the sugarparent trait/aspiration.... Also apart from the heart-shaped tub missing, it's also a crime that they also forgot to include a kissing booth in this pack... So many missed opportunities
This pack deffo isn't about romance. It's about sex and kinks, they just couldn't openly say that cause they are pushing the boundaries of child friendly as it is 😂

Wicked Whims already gives your Sims a more complex attraction system anyways, don't need some stupid cheesy dating app from EA. Also LittleMsSam's SimDa dating app is way better XD

I’m being genuine when I say this, I played the pack for twelve hours last night because my neighbours were partying and I couldn’t fall asleep, this pack isn’t as bad as he’s making it out to be. I came across no glitches, and the gameplay was pretty in depth; with the ring bear and 7 dates challenge I was entertained for a while. The dates work perfectly in my experience (I might be lucky idk) and nobody interrupted the date my sim had with Don Lothario and they were sitting across each other for the entire date, the other eight I had worked just as well. Compared to the other new packs I think the gameplay is pretty good and polished.

If EA got the details right, they'd get away with more cash grabby things. Like make all the builds 100% playable, tag all the build/buy and CAS correctly, make collectible spawn points, make the lots touch the pavement and make the gallery photo side make sense. These things cost no money, but they consistently get them wrong and it shows they just rush everyone and don't care 😢
They should’ve done the dating apps pictures like how the autographs or photo booth pictures are done. It’s just a preset thing with the sim popped in and it looks good. Just give the player a couple of poses to choose from and it’s good

This sounds like a gamepack, but they would definitely milk it out to be an expansion pack. Even tho there's no gameplay, BUT you can sit on the couch, on the chair, on sofas, WOW! And while sitting, you can also talk with other sims, and you can enjoy the view while sitting etc. So I was thinking about 'Comfy Living' to be a more Sims4 appropriate pack😉😊
Let's have a yard pack so grass grows and you can use lawn mowers. If you want something other than maybe two mowers, you will need to buy another stuff pack for riding mowers.

The last one I've gotten was "Cat's and Dogs" and only because "my first pet stuff" was free that time. I will never get anything else. Because there is nothing good to get anymore. The new stuff is half assed, the old stuff needs a makeover and everything else performs like shit once you get all. This game will break itself one day.
The only stuff I am getting are the free kits now. EA won't get another penny.
I have the whole game for free the downside is that I don't have the online gallery but that's fair ;)

@@sophieceleste4771 (and anyone else who thinks that there are no worthwhile expansions lol) Obviously your choice - I never planned to play TS4 at all, and would not have had I been able to keep playing TS3. However now that I am playing it, I am CERTIAN that the addition of a few packs makes a massive difference to gameplay. I initially tried playing just the free base game, but got bored immediately. My first expansion was C&D, then added the others in my top 5 list. With no expansions TS4 is akin to going out to dinner and being given a plain piece of bread - no butter, no meat, no cheese....just a dry slice of bread - it WILL keep you alive, but it is not enjoyable at all, and a steady diet of this is so dull as to be pointless. However IMO a FEW packs are actually worth the money & DO add considerably to gameplay. I only recently started playing TS4 (though had previously played 1, 2 and 3 - reason for TS4 was that unfort my computer stopped paying TS3, very disappointing) which IMO is a benefit as at this point I can watch mega reviews etc. before buying anything.
The packs I think are worth getting are: 1 - Cats & Dogs - because I love cats (not so much dogs) & because the neighborhood* is excellent
2 - Get Together - Best (and largest) neighborhood* in the game, adds Cafes, Great Build mode stuff.
3 - Snowy Escape - Japanese inspired setting, wonderful CAS, lots of opportunity for off lot exploring, festivals, (finally) authentic looking Asian Sims.
4 - Seasons - because Seasons are essential unless you live in California.
5 - City Living - because a very distinctive and different neighborhood with more opportunities to get to know neighbors (apartments) , adds a lot of variety to the game, wonderful CAS, and even MORE festivals!
I found Cottage Living, Island Living & Eco Lifestyle a bit disappointing.
I don't have or plan to buy Get to Work, Discover University, High School Years, Growing Together, Horse Ranch, For Rent or Get Famous - In most cases due to poor reviews.
*They are NOT really "worlds" as in TS3, as unlike in TS3 your Sims can easily travel between them.*
Not only it has no depth, but also they reworded features from base game and called it new. For example: two aspirations that exist since base game Serial Romantic and Soulmate. That’s just the same as Romantic Explorer and Paragon Partner. It’s literally the same. And the reward for Serial Romantic is Player making the entire boundary system null and void. Just give two sims a player trait (how is that even a reward for serial romantic? Wouldn’t a reward affect the sim with the aspiration instead of other sims?) and you have an open relationship. One of the new traits is lovebug, but we already have romantic in Base Game and noncommittal. No new venues, no new craftables, nothing new for kids or toddlers. Dating app is basically slightly changed social bunny and equally shallow. You are paying $40 dollars for a new world, a rabbit hole, 2 refurbished, re-worded traits, 2 existing and re-worded aspirations, shallow dating app, 3 new objects with minimal animations, another addition to an already cluttered and illogical interaction wheel, turn off and turn on es that are just additions to existing preferences. They also gave you the pleasure to kill non existing jealousy (since sims don’t don’t actually react to cheating as it is) and called it open relationships. Except all relationships in sims 4 are open because sims are mindless, poorly coded, little effing happy clones. EA is selling this expansion with less features then a game pack and refurbished reworded existing content. It is absolutely disgusting. At this point I need EA to clearly define wtf the mean by expansion. Because if it’s smaller than a game pack it’s not an expansion.
And they recycled the bear again (sad blue bear). They can't even create a unique mascot for this EP.
And half of it is bugged on top....
So far this pack is a No for me...
And not to mention that going on dates is not enjoyable. like you have to do things during a time limit, exactly the same for get to work or base game dates

It’s renamed with base game features. Traits exist, aspirations exists, rabbit hole are not game play, preferences exist, no new venues, no activities, no craftibles. There is nothing in this that is really new or fun

As soon as this EP was announced, I knew this would be a disaster.
A pack focused on sim social interactions - in a 10 year old game with horrible, outdated townie AI.
Especially in combination with the 70+ DLCs, which make the unstable AI even more prone to bugs and glitches.
At this point, I'm only looking forward to Satch ripping the new packs apart :D

Actually, I bring all my families with kids there to gain an infant milestone of vacation and all of the other rentals do not have anything to accommodate a baby or a child, let alone an infant... 😂😂😂 but yeah, it is the only reason tbh.

Most of the vacay houses can be turned into normal house with no effort. I play world restricted style. So like my Sulani Sims live in Sulani, San Sequoia would be novel and different for them to vacation. Also families split over time so when they come into town to visit family, they stay in a house they rent nearby.
the more expansion packs they release in such a short time, the faster the hype dies down for them. theres seriously not enough content in here to upsell it as an EP and same goes for last years EPs. People stopped caring about For Rent after like 2 weeks or so and I think the hype for lovestruck died before it was even released
I think one of the good things about for rent is that you could have more places/“lots” to house sims in… but this pack literally adds nothing to the game😓 idk why other UA-camrs were so hype about it

I definitely don't trust her reviews anymore because despite her saying they haven't bought her opinion, she gives every pack reviews that are way too good. Plus she hasn't addressed the major glitches from the pack or from the update, as far as I'm aware. Satch is honestly the only person I trust at this point. Although, James Turner actually did say that he thought the build mode was only a game pack's worth of stuff, and he has a creator code, so that's something.

I did the switch too, I have already played almost everyday for two weeks straight and my sim is on long lifespan and I still havent gotten through the adventure pack 😂 but any other sims4 pack I could get through in couple hours

I fully think this would have been 20x better of a pack if there went for Paris or a Venice-inspired world, imagine how pretty it would be and how fun it would be to have your sim exploring one of those cities and looking for love, a coffee shop would be a good addition as something so simple should not be in one pack only, perhaps some ruins you can explore and have real gameplay with like jungle adventure, maybe it would even take you to a hidden paradise world. I think with a pack this simple there NEEDS to be other elements to it, a historian career linked with ruins, a modeling career, actual night markets and festivals, the sims team has 0 ambition and i think they really missed their chance a great EP.
Right?! How cool would it have been if they centred the pack around activities you could do on a date and the lots/venues that come with it. There could be a cooking class, a cinema, a Parisian style coffee shop, a pottery class, a zoo, actually function picnic dates...oh, how cute would a mini golf date be! All to a romanticized European backdrop!
And they could have made live careers as one of these class's teacher or the cinema or zoo. And you could choose to decide to help or ruin someone's date whilst you're at work!

As soon as I saw this pack I thought, I don't need it, because I use mods that already have all these features. Now seeing your review I'm even more convinced to not get this pack because of all the bugs and annoyances you mentioned. I literally think that EA has copied ideas from mods and their execution seems to be really bad. Thanks Satch for giving us these honest reviews. I won't update the game and will use my romance mods instead of buying such a crappy pack.
Not to mention over confusing things that don't need to be so complicated.
Imagine if instead of all this nonsense, they made a pack full of date activities. They could have done a whole bunch of new lot types that you could go to on dates. A cinema, a cooking class, etc. They could have taken the opportunity to add so many more activities that the game desperately needs. Maybe even throw in a few live careers at these venues. People would have bought it even if they didn't care about romance in particular.

When I think romance pack I imagine the concept of being wined and dined, going for walks hand in hand, rose petals, sending gifts such as jewellery, flowers. Paris or Venice world Gondola rides

@@thetachiban57 Not sure what San Myshuno has to do with this aside from being an urban area, but Mexico City (on which Ciudad Enamorada is based) is an amazing destination for couples. Saw more PDA in a week there than in either aforementioned European city. 😂

The only options there is for me is if some people leave the sims team and they get fresh new people, and them doing dramatic left turns with the franchise from what it is now, or me going back to past sims games that i actually had fun in, or me continue waiting for a worthy life sim that don't disappoint or bore the hell out of me.

100%, I enjoy other Sims content creators but I feel like most of them don't talk about the "bad" parts, and only focus on the good stuff. I usually only trust LGR and Satch if I want to buy a pack. James Turner is also good though. This pack is such a flop and if anything its hilarious watching Satch tear it apart 😂

And you honestly can "customize" dates without this pack by just choosing the lot type, bc the goals will be a little bit different depending on where you are with your date

I just wanted to mention - those are not gimp suits. The world is based on/inspired by Mexico and those are based on the outrageous and sparkly traditional lucha libre wrestler outfits, which I'm not sure if I feel is weirder or not. I'm sure the sims team was aware of the kink imagery they were invoking creating those outfits, but technically not a gimp suit and mask, which generally covers everything sometimes with a zipper for the mouth and even eyes. It's kinda sad because luchadores are so fun and colorful with ridiculous backstories that put American wrestling to shame and the mask is such an iconic part of it that removing someone's mask during the bout will get you disqualified. They even sell duplicates of the masks as merch and my little brother ran around the living room doing "wrestler moves" wearing the mask of whatever wrestler was his favorite at the time when he was little. So, yeah, not a gimp mask.
It's my birthday and I just upgraded my laptop and was thinking about getting this pack... I'll wait and go back to the Sims 2 and 3. But this video was absolutely hilarious 😂 you made my day!

I live in Japan and they decided that the Japanese game price has to line up with the US price, so expansion packs cost almost 50% than what it did one year ago (went from 4000 yen to 5800 yen). Meanwhile salaries haven't gone up at all in Japan, just the value of the yen has decreased compared to the dollar. I could maybe justify the price before considering my income and the amount of time I spend on the game, but now it's just way too pricey.

I think they dont test the game with all packs installed, the early access youtubers had almost no glitches in their little preview of the pack, but the released version is fully broken

There was so much more potential here, they could’ve added loads to justify the price.
Off the top of my head:
Kitchen set, bathroom set, heart hot tub, new community lot type, physical attraction, risky woohoo, new date activities, actual new formatting instead of reused concepts, live careers instead of rabbit hole (that would’ve been so fun), less chairs, less decals (I mean what’s up with that!), more ‘normal’ furniture, functional dumbbells and an actual functioning dating app.
In summary, I like this pack but I’m underwhelmed.
Maybe they are saving the heart shaped tub for My First Date Stuff/Kit Pack. Knowing EA, I won't be surprised. 😅
I feel like it would’ve been better to do an attraction based on the style of clothes rather than color. Like maybe they’re not into goths, but they’re into jocks, so wearing sporty clothing would give them a level of attraction.
I kinda trust Satch's reviews more versus lilsimsie's (or other simstubers who only reviews the early access) because she only reviews the early-access-basegame-only version.

Sims is getting obsessed with making these complicated “systems” and “relationships” that honestly seem redundant now that the game has been out for so long now. We have already been using our imagination for 10 years to pretend that a mother and daughter have a “Difficult” dynamic or that a boyfriend and girlfriend are “Steamy”.
They try to dress up these systems as such impactful gameplay when really it makes no difference with how your Sims act. If you remove all of those relationship systems from the game - familial and romantic - it makes absolutely no difference.. but they put a price tag on it anyway
I wish there was a way to disable the “gameplay” aspects of some packs while still keeping the cas and build objects.

This seems like a background pack. You dont buy it for the world or even the items really. You buy it for the "updated" sim romance and decent CAS items. Definitely a game pack. Lol

I remember when Get To Work was released and i spent DAYS completing all the careers and playing with the retail system, contrast that to today with lovestruck i felt like i finished the pack in maybe 2 hours 😕
It makes me even sadder that Life By You was canceled despite being almost finished. It would have been competition against EA, an alternative. Even if it was worse, we could break the monopoly at least, make EA less lazy.

Exactly, vacation rentals are so annoying, I know rentals are a specific pack but those lots could have been like apartments like in eco lifestyle.
The problem I have with these "get to know sim" questions is that although they seem realistic, they're incredibly boring game-wise. It takes one click to learn everything you need about a potential partner. You don't get an in-depth experience of getting to know a sim if you have to click like three interactions with the same talking animation to complete this stage. I wish they added a challenge to it, like that you would only be able to learn one piece of info from just asking and would have to find out the rest through game interactions (and some would only surface over time, like jealousy or a love language), or based on some traits certain sims would be unable to tell you certain things right away, so you'd have to interact with them more to find out (perhaps they don't trust other sims, perhaps they're exploring themselves..) Not only it would add some actual gameplay, it'd also make building relationships slower and thus make them more meaningful. It's not like you can fully get to know your partner with just these questions irl, like yeah they're important, but you gotta actually try and see how it truly works out for both of you...
I was also looking forward to the addition of unrequited love as it also adds a challenge to the game and creates potential for drama, but I'm disappointed that it's not implemented even with the 'improved' compatibility system. So what if my sims are incompatible and one of them dislikes the other? I can technically still make them work if I want to, like it always have been. So this silly menu with the basic questions feels unnecessary and cringey and the entire dating system kinda doesn't make sense since it's incompatible with how in-game relationships work in general. Cool 🔥

i love the cas items and the theme of the build/buy items (they could have added kitchen furniture and the heart-shaped hot tub though) especially because of how different the items are from other packs, i just wish they would have done more with the world and the gameplay. they definitely could have added more lots in the city area as well as actual apartments. they could have also given us functional hotels and made the consultant career, not a rabbit hole. imagine if our sims had their own office and had to ask the couple different questions and actually try to solve their problems and if you aren't paying attention or u just don't care/feel like breaking them up your choices could instead ruin their relationship. this had the potential of being an amazing pack.

Im going to be Frank here...The sims community deserve this pack. They have let EA get away with nonsense for so long. Why would EA do anything different when so many people will still gladly just buy this pack regardless.
I would've loved new dynamics but I was worried it would be as horribly implemented as the Growing Together ones were: One interaction gives a prompt to change the entire dynamic or doing something when you happen to be in a bad mood prompts to hate it.
Looks like it's exactly what I thought it would be. Thanks for living up to my incredibly low expectations, EA.
My biggest warning to people is that it’s HORRIFICALLY bugged; it nearly bricked my Xbox when I was playing it, and I’ve seen others get their saves and game files corrupted and not recoverable. If you haven’t bought it yet, WAIT until the release a patch - yes it’ll be a while, but TRUST ME!!!

I agree on the lack of masculine clothing. The masculine clothing options are limited as-is, and you can always choose feminine clothes for men anyways. It’s to the point that I can’t even make proper tomboy femme sims because of the lack of masculine clothing?
