It will make giving random townies that show up on community lots and offend my senses with the awful way they are dressed some much needed make-overs, a lot quicker and easier.
That “apply all” option in CAS is going to change my life-takes thirty years for me to put makeup and nails on for my sims outfits individually lol.
Yeah my sims usually get one makeup look for their everyday outfits and then no makeup for anything else because i CAN'T be fucked to do the same thing so many times. And i try to be consistent with piercings but i so often forget. So happy that I finally don't have to deal with that anymore

Very happy EA is finally adding some more mature content. This game isn't just a child's game. I'm over 50 and have played Sims since their 1st game.

Literally I just made a family where I had to apply nail polish to 5 DIFFERENT SIMS AND ALL OF THEIR OUTFITS and it made me want to cry, this update is EVERYTHING

I never even thought about it this way but here I am rubbing my hands with glee 😂 I kept having to make new sims and drop them into the worlds for my matriarch! Plus the dating thing pulls sims from the gallery so there really is going to be a huge choice 👌🏻

As a Spanish person, I feel the mix between a more traditional architecture and a more modern one suits pretty well the idea of a city that has developed with time, but still hasn't lost their tradition, so I really really like it, because it is what I grew up seeing. But I completely understand that it is not everyone's cup of tea.
I think its cool & I like the layout of the world but what i thought she was saying was that because they focused on both there werent enough build mode items for each style to properly flesh them both out from this pack alone

Honestly I like this world over all. Having it be Mexican inspired fits the pack it being a romantic focused pack. It's just the lack of pre-built starter homes has been an issue in almost every world that has been introduced. I usually end up just using newcrest with all my gallery lots.
i don't like the in game eyelashes that much but i'm SOOO happy that cc creators won't have to fight for texture slots anymore and i won't have to choose between my sim having lashes or cute jewelry 🙏

Have you ever watched her lives on twitch? You can definitely get a good read on someone when you see them live and she is definitely so nice, inclusive, and honest from what I've seen.

I feel like I saw a calendar decoration of that variety from Get to Work when I was decorating a house yesterday, it might've been career locked however, I was playing with items unlocked
One time my sim died by fire after flirting on his wife’s sister (in her face) wife didn’t want to call the firefighters but the sister did.
They came but they kept dancing on him while he’s burning
Turns out those firefighters she called were strippers

I love how the attraction system, scan room system, and ask about attraction is lifted STRAIGHT from whicked/wonderful whims, it's hilarious how blatant it is.

@@AcoriSage i havent played the sims 2 so I cant say how much whims took from sims 2, I'm just saying that the way they programed the new update in and the way all the new animations and stuff look, it just looks very similar to current whims.
The fact that other sims can autonomously propose to your sim is HUGEEE omg 😭😭💕 i am PRAYING that’s a base game feature
I do have a lot of packs, but I've had NPC Sims propose to my Sims autonomously before. It might have been included with the High School pack?
@@rafaelaguerra2 yeah I keep getting NPC proposing to my sims or asking to move in too. Can be a pain cause then they get a bad sentiment when I say no and they just keep trying 😂🙈
@@vanguardiris3232 yeah i think a lot of autonomy did come at the same time as highschool years, but I think most of it didn't have animations with them so it was just a pop up
I feel like this should have come in the base game being as this is a life simulator... what do I know, but it's a solid feature.
Yeah, like they propose after 1 hour of one date.... very realistic...🙄And when you say no they ask again after an hour. It could have been so good, but trust EA to f it up!

I‘m so relieved that the new date system isn’t bugged, because I was kinder scared that it was going to be like wedding storys
Ymmv but my problem with the wedding plans was never the activities being buggy so much as Sim autonomy messing things up and issues getting the cake I bought to the wedding.
Let's see if it's still not bugged when we play it with ALL the other packs installed.
@@MarishkaVladimirescu I mean, it will absolutely have some issues, all releases do. But hopefully nothing too bad. It helps that this dynamic is more focused on a couple sims at a time. One of the problems with My Wedding Stories is that it struggles to control non-played sims, causing chaos and things not happening as they should. This format only involves a few sims at a time.

@WelcomeApathy From my understanding, this pack's workings will try to keep NPCs (not large groups, granted) from joining controlled Sims' "personal" conversations. So there's that, will all of its desirability and potential to stuff things up.
I completely agree with you on the lots not touching the sidewalk! It's so easy to fix too, and makes a huge difference. We need to keep telling them this!
You can “move lot” in build mode, doesn’t this work to bring it next to the path?
@@nesb5309 you can't build outside the boundaries, i imagine if you have a tile pathway set up and try to scoot the lot closer to the sidewalk it'll just delete anything that hits the edge of the lot boundary

@@nesb5309 that's what I'm saying. Move Lot is everything you built including what you've done on the land. Move House is only the building stuff. Like I said you can't move the grid though.
With beds and stats i wish they would disconnect the comfort levels from the bed itself and just let the sims purchase mattress upgrades. That way they don't end up using the same 5 beds once they have the money because sleep takes forever otherwise and it makes real life logical sense too.

There is a mod that lets you purchase cushion/mattress upgrades for couches and beds, but that only helps if you play with mods

As someone who's aromantic and as someone who wasn't that impressed by the pack when I first heard about it, I LOVE how they've not only focused on romantic attraction, but other ones too! Being able to choose what kind of attraction a sim feels is really nice and having the platonic date option made me so happy!
I’m aroace and I feel the same way! I love going on platonic dates (me and my friend are doing a picnic soon :D) but I’m so glad they’re giving us interesting dynamics of all types. Also im probably not gonna use it as most of my sims are aro by default bc putting effort into romance is just not interesting to me but im happy they’re adding polyamory too
the romantically reserved trait is really exciting to me as an asexual demiromantic person; it feels pretty close to representing my identity and that's really exciting. platonic dates are so exciting as well, we love queer platonic relationships. also really happy for my poly people in getting representation too.

Oh the sims team are on thin ice for this one. They FORCED game changers to take a sponsorship to get early access? And frankly, an insultingly cheap one at that. I'm glad Kayla exposed them for doing this because they are NOT getting away with this again. And for a gallery post of all things? It's so tacky!! Edit: I want to clarify I misspoke when calling out the sims team specifically as this was likely a decision by EA that they then had to enforce! I just wanted to make it clear I know the difference and I appreciate all the comments mentioning that

I’m not trying to defend EA in anyway BUT I will say, first of all this ain’t a sims team decision so let’s not blame them, but second there a law changed in the UK where if a content creator receives any product free or early access they HAVE to label it as an ad wether they were paid for it or not, I don’t agree with the forced sponsorship by anymeans but I think that probably contributed to it… idk, it’s weird

I haven't watched her content in a while, but her reviews have always been fair. The problem is that The Sims 4 has gathered a fandom of hate (hatedom? lol) that is just as blind as the part of the fandom that pretends this game is perfect. They simply can't believe that some people genuinely enjoy the game, despite its flaws

@@LeFuil I honestly don't think their intention is to try and buy anyone's opinion (they wouldn't try to do that with such a low number, haha!) but I think they were probably advised to do it by some legal team because of this weird "extra early" access situation and it likely has to do with them wanting to force us to disclose it's a #ad since we got given access so early. I don't really understand it, but I definitely don't think they're trying to "pay anybody off" with $100.
We do need to keep in mind, regarding bugs, she said she played with base game and the pack so we have no idea if the pack causes bugs with other packs or other packs causes bugs with this one.

That “add to other outfits” category is GAME CHANGING. I spend hours looking through items and CC for things like PIERCINGS and lashes, nail polish! That is going to save me SO much time ☺️☺️☺️☺️

There's a mod that allows you to pick aromantic, asexual etc
romantically reserved functions pretty well for making demiromantic sims imo, as even using romantic interactions that the sim responded well to or enjoyed would not actually build their romance whatsoever until their green bar was basically completely full. the ability to have a fully platonic sexual relationship between sims feels like such a breakthrough for aromantic sims (edit: typed the wrong demi)
At first, I thought this pack was not gonna be worth the money. Did I think the features sounded nice? Yes. but I wondered how it could be considered an expansion pack (aside from the new world). But honestly, the features are much more complex than I imagined and I can see this revolutionizing the way I play. This seems like something I would use in every save file! I'm excited for it! (I commented this 8 mins into the video, so hopefully I feel this way after it hahah)

I actually have an oc who is going to be legit perfect for this pack, her name is Lucily Lovelace and her whole aesthetic is like cheesy over the top girly pink Valentine’s Day look and she’s like obsessed with and in love with love and being in love, like I can’t wait to play through the pack content with her
eyelashes having their own category makes me happy specifically for mods😭 and the apply to other categories WILD thats so needed
I hope they credit Wicked Whims, because the attraction stuff has been done by them for YEARS
For real. I know a lot of console players get salty about CC but frankly CC creators have put in more effort and man hours than the actual Sims 4 team since day 1. Lumpinou, LittleMsSam and the folks behind WickedWhims figured all of these mechanics out years ago.

I'm honestly shocked that we did not get a Paris themed world for this pack.
It would have been nice if the gendered terms were still an option. For a lot of people 'Spouse' or 'Engaged' are what you put on an form, if you want to be someones Wife or Husband I think that should be allowed. I don't think I've ever referred to my parents other children as 'Siblings' they are my Brother or my Sister. Having gender neutral terms avaliable is great but it should not come at the cost of removing the gendered ones.

THIS!! I've noticed this with a lot of inclusive things nowadays. They seem to be doing a lot of excluding in the process. Like if a barbecue place included salad options, at the cost of removing brisket. Inclusivity should ADD to, NEVER subtract from.

The issue I have with penthouses is that random people from the street find their way up into my apartment, and are able to walk right into the house. I can't lock the doors because my sim has a lot of family members that visit.
You can lock the doors and give keys to your family members
@@phoenixx3951 Ohhh if my family members have keys, they can bypass the “Lock for everyone but household members” door lock prompt? I always thought it would lock them out too since they technically aren’t household members.
@phoenixx3951 Last I checked the "Give residence key" interaction comes with get famous and get famous only. As someone who refuses to buy get famous, it is very annoying and I wish they made giving keys to your house base game.

@@lillycat1758 I know of the interaction, and all family members have keys, I just didn’t know if the prompt literally meant that it would only let in household members and lock out everybody else, despite having a key

I don't love them removing gendered terms entirely. It's very affirming for many people to be referred to with gendered terms, a lot of people *enjoy* being called "husband" or "wife" and so on. Gender isn't a bad thing! I would definitely prefer if they would let you choose whether or not your sim uses gendered terms (or do it dynamically based on your pronoun choices given that we don't really have a way to set a sim's gender otherwise) rather than simply remove gendered terms altogether.

I love the costume trunk! I like to think that’s a throwback to sims 1 as there was a costume trunk in sims 1 for parties and it was so fun to use 🎉
It’s definitely great to have the gender neutral option but taking away wife/ husband, bf/gf, wasn’t the way to go. It took away from the inclusivity to be honest
im actually kinda sad that the wedding stories system was never fixed i didn’t buy the pack solely for that reason. although, lovestruck looks like it works great, it bothers me that they just left wedding stories in the dust. now my sims have no way to have a more customizable wedding but they have more ways to woohoo and be romantic which is nice ig 😢

@@thisqueenieisunique2896 I basically bought it just for the teapots. I was happy with how detailed the weddings were before the pack already. But a proper teapot was something I really had been missing. The old teamaker thing was a bit weird. And I like having small kitchen "appliences" that don’t take up an entire counter space, but can also be placed somewhere else. It’s more realistic and easier in smaller homes.

i don’t mind that the game doesn’t have physical attraction, but speaking in real life i will say in my experience, having physical attraction to someone is huge in deciding wether they would be a PARTNER or just a friend

This actually looks way better than they made it seem in the live stream. They really left so much out and made the pack look terrible actually. I'm feeling more excited about it now.
Yeah no idea why they didn't have developer Q&As this time, there was obviously a lot to discuss that they put in work for. They didn't even mention the axolotls were collectibles and there were 9 to find and that made a lot of people think that they were decor, like things usually are if they're not mentioned. They didn't even mention the different WooHoo labels with the costumes

ik you said that the build mode was disappointing to you, but as a builder on the sims whos mexican, i LOVE the style!! ive been waiting a pack like this for SOOO long, and they showcased the culture so respectfully and well!! i can 100% see myself using this pack to make houses that look like my childhood home and have a house that reminds me of my culture!!

Anyone else Simsie WAY undereacted about the shower and shower door? 😄 imo, EVERY pack should come with one of those shower heads, or at least add one into bg, but that shower door is perfect!!! It’s soooo much bettter than using the plain one tile glass doors! This one is so perfect because it’s 2 tiles, and actually is made to be a shower door! We definitely have nothing else like that in the game yet, so this is huge! (Imo lol)
Edit: and there’s modular beams for the ceilings?! Are you kidding me! That’s going to make so many build so much more realistic!

It's really sad that Simsie has to put the disclaimer that she's not a shill before every one of these early access videos. The number of times she's roasted a pack, solidly rejected the FOMO marketing EA loves to do, and told people to just wait for sales should make that obvious by now but the internet LOVES to make baseless accusations.
She could have said no to the money and not had the early access. She could also say no to the creator code and not make money off of sales of the pack. Instead she consistently chooses to tie her income to the success of Sims 4 dlc.

They made her take an insulting amount of money considering the amount of videos she's going to make on this pack. They took advantage of their creators. They either need to not force them to accept money or pay them a fair wage for the amount of work they're doing. Either way she deserved the right to say no without risking her entire livelihood.
Maybe this is too close to home for some, maybe a bit too realistic, but heartbreak as a death I think would be really fitting for elders when one of them dies, if say for example they'd been in a really long term relationship all their life, as that happens so much in real life.

Thank you for being one of the only people to actually acknowledge how much this pack adds. Everyone saying it should have been a Game Pack is not recognizing how much is actually here because they can't see it in an item list, and knowing how much effort goes into these background system overhauls means that so much work is being completely unappreciated. It's actually a lot harder to change something existing than it is to add something completely new, because you risk breaking everything that the thing you wanted to change is connected to, so you get this cascading effect of problems. This pack had the potential to be as broken as My Wedding Stories, or worse, and the fact that it runs, at least according to you, nearly perfect is a testament to how much they worked to get this one right.
Yes the reason it’s an expansion is because it completely changes how all sims behave in all your games. People just see “turn offs” or “chemistry” as these really small features but it’s the main point of it.
EA has an annual revenue of 7.5 BILLION dollars. As customers of a huge corporation, I really don't think we should be thinking about 'how much work it takes them' to make three features for 40 dollars. This pack is tiny and we should be getting more - they can definitely afford it. Also you don't actually know how many work hours it took them to take the game, so I don't know why you're trying to excuse it - they could be spending less time on Lovestruck than others packs.
CC creators have done all the same features for free. EA is copying existing custom content and charging $40 for it. Their work was basically done for them and they're profiting off of it like the money grubbers EA are. We don't need to accept bare minimum expansions and give them any benefit for the "work" that goes into all their lackluster expansions

Oh the Relationship Counselor career branch is so nice to have! I feel like having different careers is great for storytelling so it's nice to have a new one that's so different from what we have. AND we can actually play it from the other side as the one seeking counseling! It makes the world feel way more full that it goes both ways

I do think it's great that they added gender neutral relationships but I think it's lazy they didn't also keep wife/husband and boyfriend/girlfriend in addition to the gender neutral options
Yeah. As a trans guy myself who uses both he and they pronouns I do have label preferences and like being called “brother” or “boyfriend” or “son” over any of those gender neutral terms 😅
The weird thing is it'd be *more* work removing all of it rather than adding a new option. They could very easily have just added a new option that basically changes the language of the game to not have gendered terms..

If anything, it just looks bad on EA because they have never done that before and now that they're trying it out, they're offering you such a little amount?? It feels gross of them, tbh. I know a lot of people really like the partner thing. But it should be a new option not forced on us. Exclusivity is great but also shouldn't alienate players that don't want to play that way. I'm hoping I'll find a mod that will bring it back, because maybe not even every save file especially historical ones I want to say partner.

I'm mixed about the neutral gendered language changes. I know that for a lot of binary trans folks (am a she/them myself), they WANT the gendered language as they feel more respected/included with those terms rather than neutral ones. I wish it was an option, and not forced upon us.
I agree with you completely. They should make it so it only says "partner" if the SIM in question has they them pronouns.
It's just EA's lazy way of trying to make everyone feel included because including a bunch of different terms for relationship status is too much work for them. They've never actually cared about queer people. They added a chest binder which doesn't even bind.

one thing that made me so happy about this pack is that i counted about 6 new shoes. i feel like the Sims team never puts new shoes in the game. for example, Highschool Years added like 3 new pairs of shoes to the cas, and i feel HSY is a very fashionable pack alongside the gameplay that comes with it. the lack of matching shoes for outfits always upsets me, so im quite happy to see some new shoes :))

Im hoping there is still an option for gendered language in game. Like, I am happy we have "partner" and "spouse" but as someone who *does* use gendered language in my day to day and wants to be refered to with it i would also want to make sims that reflect that sometimes? I want my sims to have boyfriends, to be a husband etc.
Yeah, removing those is not "making it more inclusive". (But my other thought was that this is going to be a nightmare with other languages, just like the pronoun thing)
The way I understood it is that the default is gonna be partner but you can choose "custom relationship label" and write in husband/wife
Same. I would never call my boyfriend, "my partner." It feels so numb and cold. I'm glad people who use non-gendered language can feel good about it, but it does also takes away from people who have opposite thoughts. It's basically just a trade-off of who you want to prioritise.

I was also concerned about that, based on the wedding stories fiasco. Weddings with wedding stories don't even have a way to get bronze, silver, or gold, and barely have rewards anymore either. I'm relieved to see that, at least according to this, that won't be a problem with what they're doing with dates, and that they're just making them more customized without taking any gameplay away. Now I just wish they'd go back and refresh/fix the wedding stories weddings so they worked similarly (and also weren't buggy as hell.)
Anyway, inter-pack and gallery interaction stuff aside, I think my main remaining question about dates in this new pack (and sorry if lilsimsie covered this and I just missed it--I was kinda having this playing while also doing work lol) is if the new date types still fulfill the base game romance aspirations, cause that'd be kind of a bummer if not.
I'd also be interested in someone breaking down the actual effective differences between lovebug & romantically reserved vs romantic & unflirty. Like...at this point, I'm just a little unclear on what these new traits actually do, that those older traits don't?

Unpopular opinion: Lovestruck feels like an expansion pack to me. From what I have seen, it actually expands the game. The overhaul it has for relationships forever changes the game.
I am primarily an occult player. I love all the occult game packs. But they don't truly expand the game. They add to it and, for me, make it 100% more enjoyable, but they are game packs for a reason. But they don't change it at its core. Good expansion packs change the game at the core. Think of seasons (adds weather and holidays), growing together (milestones, family dynamics), For Rent (realistic rentals), Eco Lifestyle (pollution), Cats and Dogs, Get Together (club system)... all of these completely change a core of the game by adding a new core feature. That is why they are expansion packs. They expand the game.
