I have something similar, i mounted the rear camera beside the number plate on my van and i spliced the live wire into the reversing light wire and comes on when reversing, good video Martin👍👍
I installed one of those A Toto units in my car the other day. It would only Play Africa, Rosanna and Hold the line
“Hold the line” is without a doubt one of the greatest songs of all time 🎶 🔊
Mine only plays Wizard of Oz songs!
Nice work Martin all Jimmy has to do now is to clean his van
Hi that extra wire for the back camera is for the reverse light live so it will come on automatically when you put in reverse.
Looks nice, sadly it’s illegal because of the amount of the windscreen/swept vision it takes up.
Good instructional video, only problem is you will need to remove it every time you leave the van anywhere, otherwise there are certain types of people will break in to steal it as it looks like a tablet, only to realise after they have damaged everything it needs to be fitted to a vehicle.
If you live in the ghetto, yeah sure. To be honest though, it looks nothing like a tablet in the real world, so bit of a non issue.
Great bit of kit and work Martin 👌
Hi Martin, 👋
Great to see you again. Twice in one day.😊
You're a technical genius Martin. I've never doubted it. However you might just as well have been speaking in Cantonese for all I understood. I couldn't possibly install something like that for myself but I do like watching and listening to you. Even if I don't understand anything I still find it interesting.
Thank you for this🎉
Hugs and kisses till next time 🤗😘💯👍
lol Sheila, thanks for watching though.
@@retrorestore 😃 I love watching and listening to you explain stuff👍💯👏
You’re very clever, nicely explained too xx
Good to see you fellas back 👍
There is another better option that fits in the factory radio space
Quick look at specs and it says it has fm output so should transmit over fm frequency so you just tune it in on radio for sound.
Basically does the same as my £30 carplay/auto screen unit, albeit mine is a smaller screen 7". Don't think that the bigger screen and couple of apps that probably wouldn't be used is worth the extra 260£ tho
Well done Martin you make that look easy
Awesome buddy looking good nice upgrade for the Transit.😊👍
Thanks Ali 👍
On the Ford radio in your van is an 'AUX' button. There should be a 3.5mm socket somewhere that will accept audio from the new unit.
Good point, yes, that would work.
Hi Martin, instead of turning the rear camera physically around I found on a cheaper unit I’ve got mate that in the settings I am able to do it via the touch screen settings, worth a try mate, keep up the great videos, G’day from Australia
Thanks for the tip, We have been looking but couldn't find anything so far.
Love my Atoto S3 in my Mk3 Mondeo. I use waze with it.
The smart screen should have a radio station that can be connected through the car radio where you can play your own music and the quality is pretty good hope you guys work it out 👍
Yes, we'll try that, thanks.
It’s crazy ya can put one of them in front of ya face same as a Tesla big distracting screen but if ya touch ya phone
I think you'll find it's illegal to have something there. I had to be very careful where I put the dash cam in mine, out on the edges of the windscreen only.
What gets me is you can talk on a walkie talkie whilst driving till your hearts content
@@MrrrrrJJJJJackkkkNot quite! As long as it doesn't distract you from driving. If you're driving down the road mounting the curb at any opportunity, that'll see a different outcome 😂
@@cowgirl.4363dash cams should be up central behind the rear view mirror (even in a van that doesn't have one!). 1) it gives a central unobstructed view 2) the wiper never wipe the top most central point of the windscreen so it's not within the wiping area. Cameras mounted to the side or low down are 90% useless
I think if you connect the rear camera white wire to the reverse light at the rear, when you put the van into reverse the reverse camera will put up auto on the head unit👍
I'll have to check on that one, thanks.
Nice one well demonstrated
Have people forgotten that in the 80s and 90s car radios were stolen all the time ? Now one is even on display more or am I missing something as I’m not tech minded ✌️
I don't think that happens any more as most cars have a display and you also need the looms as well.
Android stereos do the same as what you’ve fitted and you’re about to fit. So why have both ?
Because we are doing an installation video
great job martin
👍👍👍. Thanks Martin / Jimmy
Hi Martin, loved the video. It’s a shame you couldn’t mount it in the middle because it makes it hard for thieves to smash the window and pinch it.
Yes, as I said, space was limited on this van.
How many edits Martin?. Nothing is ever that simple!🤣
No edit's, very simple as I said.
The mount looks rubbish I bet it shacks and wobbles when ur driving
Is it ok stuck there on the window I once had a car fail mot for a phone holder the tester told me nothing can be stuck to the window that is in the swept area of the wipers
Even a magic tree hanging from the rear view mirror is a fail. Most testers take it off and put it down as an advisory though.
Great job.
Its trembling like a leafl mounted there....
As for the old radio, shouldnt these External Carplay devices have FM transmitters to feed the radio?
Yes, apparently so.
My god that’s an awful place to put it.I bet he gets pulled over for it.
Not at all, have you seen cars with the big screens on top in the centre of a dashboard fitted from factory?
Alpine Halo is the only head unit worth the money
That headunit in transit has an aux button can this not be linked to it?
Yes it can
Does the sound come through the original fm radio? (Fm modulator?)
I'll have to look into that as I do recall something about that.
Does the transit radio have a Aux input for call audio?
It may do, i'll check.
be nice if it would fit my astra van
It's universal. It'll fit anything
yay
So many plastic bags……!
all a bit con fuse ing ha ha
??
I thought these were ment to go in the hole of the original radio. Sure there's a version that does..... not complaining but that's what I'd want, seeing as the original is a brick these days 🫣
