    awesome videos just got back into the hobby after 10-11 years away after my 125 gallon completely drained. Starting out small now with a 14G IM AIO eventually want to get a bigger tank but will definitely avoid buying a used tank off craigslist again. The 125 i had was 12 years old when i got it and about 15 years old when the seam let go. Thanks for making these videos super informative really miss my tangs had 6 yellow tangs,2 blue tangs and a purple tang RIP to them.

    Tank is looking good man! I’ve been on the hunt for a green indo bubble tip like yours... Hard to find but hoping one pops up now that things are open again. Good job on the Tangs - nice picks! Happy reefing

    Just started my tang tank ;) Waited 3 months before finally it was last weekend time to get my 5 Tangs. Just like you I picked 5 different Genesis... Got myself, Elegant Naso (biggest size of all they only had that one on stock), Normal Hypo Tang (a small), Purple Tang (medium), Blue Powder and Really wanted to get a Kole Yellow Eye Tang. But with Corona hitting and no flights from Hawaii to Europe with fish.... did get a Tomini. Got 4 at the same shop and got the tomini from another store 2 days later. Only the Blue Powder and Tomini had a tiny fight but like you I was half an hour before night time the next day no more aggression. Great tank

    Glad that your tank is doing much better and is coming into its own. Those Tangs are a good addition & that powder brown looks great. 👍

    Will you do a video of copper treatment and what to do after pulling them out of copper before you put them in the main display.

    A really cool combo is a desjardiji sail-fin tang and clown tang. One with vertical stripes and one with horizontal stripes.
    Does introducing a group of small ones all at the same time work better. Grow them out and sell them as they outgrow tanks.

      I love those tangs, smaller is always good for aggression. I'm not sure id do the clown tang but they are so awesome.

    Great topic especially since I'm kinda in the same situation. I have a 160 gallon tank with an established population of 5 tangs (Naso, Blue hippo, orange shoulder, purple tang, and finally the boss of the tank a very large sailfin) they are established and ALL get along great! I've always wanted a powder blue tang and about 6 months ago I found a nice one for a great price. I put him in a 50 gallon as he was still small in the hopes of fattening him up for the day I put him in with the others. Well, I think its time. Any advise other than the good stuff in your video? Thanks

    I love fish, but coral is the real passion I assume with must of us, my dream fish is an Achilles Tang, the most beautiful fish in the world. I had a Powder Blue, it wasn't doing well in the LFS but they practically gave it to me for nothing, unfortunately it did not live long, sad... I thought I could help it.
    Anyways sorry to ramble on, been following you for at least a couple years now man, wealth of knowledge, keep on keeping on Scott.

    • @SyNKevN

      The powders and Achilles etc are harder to keep because their slime coat never gets very thick, Ive managed a 180gal with 5 tangs(no Tang police please), and they've had very small bouts of ick but eventually they all settled in, no stress, no ick was seen thereafter. Stressed out Tang wihh ANY ick = death.

    Great video Scott, I love to see your amazing tank. I wanted to know how’s the ich management going? Is it non visible?

    • @MileHighReefers
      @MileHighReefers  4 роки тому

      Nico Van Velden I haven’t seen it in a long time. It might still be there. I’m thinking it will be fine since only one tang is new to the system but only time will tell

    Does yoir yellow coris wrasse hide after adding tangs? Mine has been hiding for 3 weeks since adding a yellow and a kole. Plus the kole has barely eaten only a bit but it has more weight than the yellow however...

    • @MileHighReefers
      @MileHighReefers  4 роки тому +1

      He does great! didn't hide at all. When I first put it in a couple years ago it did hide a lot but theses days its use to aquarium life.

    Hi Scott what are the Tangs you would recommend for a complete newbie like me? I don’t have space for a quarantine so I’ll have to rely on management. Are there any that feed easily and aren’t too prone to disease?
    I definitely want a Zebrasoma with Purple as my first choice by far, followed by Yellow and Scopas. :)
    Also looking into a Tomini and for Acanthurus, a Mimic Lemonpeel. :)
    Foxface is tempting too. :) My tank will be a custom 125 gallon 70” x 24” x 18”. :)
    Also how big are your Tangs after all these years do they get to the sizes advertised online?
    Especially the Zebrasoma and that Blue Tang.
    Would appreciate your help!!!!

    Blue hippo tang and Atlantic blue tang different temperaments also no?. Blue hippo more aggressive. How about convict tangs?. I heard convicts school and groups of small Atlantic blues when they are yellow, school and grow out together as a group betyer. Have you seen or heard this?

    • @MileHighReefers
      @MileHighReefers  4 роки тому +1

      I have not personally owned either. There will be a big difference between an Atlantic Blue and a Pacific Blue. They are different fish from different parts of the world. Convict tangs have a bad reputation for survivability. Its one I would personally stay away from. It would make sense that they would school in very large tanks but I think this would take a lot of research to do successfully.
