Jake - your videos are not only informational, not only educational, and not only entertainment - your videos have the ability to make me feel better if I'm having a crappy day. You are doing the world a valuable service with your enthusiasm. Thanks for that.
Reefbuilders is my absolute favourite UA-cam channel. I loved this video and I love all your content, it’s fun and educational and I never feel like your trying to sell me something. I always learn something every time I watch one of your videos and I just want to thank you.
Loved this! Great tips. 5 in one hit is impressive! I’m planning a move in the next 3-4 weeks and dreading catching my fish in my 82cm high reef tank! Looks ace but super tough to work on 🙄.
Fish catching is one of the banes of the hobby for me, I cannot believe how incredibly easy you make it look! I'm picking up a specimen container right now! Bravo sir!
Wow, pretty impressive how easy you made that look, I've always thought it was near impossible to net fish in a reef tank. I'd like to see how you do it in a taller aquascaped reef tank. I have a clear net for catching reef fish while diving, but have never seen the clear plastic specimen tub technique.
Great job Jake in corralling the yellow tangs together in one take. 😊 introducing more tangs into my 600g will be somewhat of a challenge but I plan on putting 4-5 more in there with the 7 I already have under cover of darkness. I have plenty of rock work for them to hide as well as alot of swim throughs for the fish so I’m hopeful I’ll be able to pull it off.
I’m newish to your channel Jake but wow your videos are super informative and very helpful. I’m currently on a 60 gallon project and your videos are helping me along the way 👍🏻
Awesome video. I've been using a similar method to catch fish for years, except I use fish bags which is easier to place in a packed reef tank. No extra frags this way and less stressful for the fish.
I love the tang fish family so much. I tried to get set up for them about 6 years ago but we ended up down sizing and selling my 180 and don't have much room right now to set something up. I enjoyed this video and the techniques you used to make this work. I would like to get a 24x48x12 50 gallon aquarium at some point and try again.
Your a Great fisherman! No rod and reel thanks man I enjoyed the cheap thrills... People love fishing it's kid friendly too. Keep up the fun show can't wait for the new articles to read Id love to join the reef builder team tell evan I say hey
When it comes to a favorite tang, mine is the Mimic Tang since it's a more affordable option for a yellow Tang and buying them bigger and fatter is better since they have been in the store being fed the same flakes and pellets you will feed them at home. My Mimic Tang, named Melanie, is very active and loves her Ocean Nutrition Formula Two Flakes and Hikari Seaweed Extreme Sinking Pellets and even fights the damsels for the food. She's one of the more docile tangs I know but I will be adding a powder brown, a sailfin, and a white tail bristlerooth in her tank with her and maybe I'll try to redecorate the tank to reset it and they will be added at the same time.
Could you make a video on damselfish? They are beautiful fish and a shoal of them looks incredible but they are demonized by many but the way they form groups in nature and create their algae gardens is very interesting and possible a fun addition to some reef tanks.
Jake you are a genius. Been trying to catch a gem tang for the last couple of days with no luck then I remembered this video bang second try and got him
i added my 4 tangs powder blue/regal/yellow /mimic all at same time and think was key! 6ft 2ft 2ft and 90% get on well and found most aggressive at lights out for some reason!
That was some VERY impressive Wrangling;) And YES you do make people's day;) Yes, your technique is impressive! And at the perfect time as we are trying to catch 3 yellow tangs in a crowded tank to separate, and or (we now know;) we can as you call it, "reset the skool" in another tank.. Awsome possum, great stuff!! Buying a couple a containers about tomorrow ;)
Thank you for the great video. Very informative! I am setting up a 6ft 140g tank and when the time comes, will order yellow tangs from Biota. Would a pair be ok, or is it better to have an odd number?
Great video I have a quick question my 4ftx2ft currently has a hippo and a 2 spot I want to add a dejardini and a tomini will I be successful? The hippo and 2 spot blue eye kole tang are about 2inch.
Wow that could not have gone better! Any word on wild yellow tang availability improving? I want to add one but they are rare in Australia and cost over $1000. We cannot import captive bred either.
I want a fowlr sand tank with nothing but angel, tangs, angel fish, and sand goby. Is it possible? Also, you can add plastic decor to a saltwater tank???
Merci Jake Trop Cool c’est toujours un plaisir de voir tes vidéos même si pour moi il est compliqué de comprendre car je ne parle pas la langue de Shakespeare 👍♥️👍
Using the reset method, could I add two yellow and one purple tang together simultaneously? With the idea of acclimating them together in the same bucket before introducing them into the tank? Thanks in advance 🙏🏽
Wow!!! That was awesome!!! I have a 75 gallon display, 4 feet long, with a 30 gallon sump and would like to have a pair of clownfish, 3 tangs, a yellow, a hippo and a purple along with a blue star leopard wrasse. Too many fish? I know I would have to trade back the tangs as they get too big. How would I add hem, or what order? Thanks
So if I have just a Blue Hippo Tang am I safe to add a Yellow Tang (if I ever find one lol) or a Purple Tang? I have an 80 gallon but my blue hippo is pretty small still an we plan on upgrading to at least a 100/120 gallon or larger after Christmas. Our blue hippo has been great to not a single problem with anything for her, she seems very very happy, very social an active!

He was amazing man I miss his video alot
Quite possibly the most amazing fish catching I’ve ever seen, incredible 🙌
Omg Jake, you made catching those tangs look super easy. When you got a four in at once, damn. Next time I see you, I’m calling you the Tang Whisperer
That was awesome to see how skilled, thoughtful and careful you are.
watching this years later, we miss jake.
That black tang is a BOSS!!! Such a beautiful fish! Looks amazing fully matured!
Jake was awesome! I recently returned to the hobby and started to whats reef builders. His excitement is contagious!

Ok, that tang capture was hilarious! This should be a mandatory training video for every LFS employee.
I've tried to inform stores of using cups and instead of nets but old curmudgeon store owners admonish younger employees for using anything but nets
Fish catching is one of the banes of the hobby for me, I cannot believe how incredibly easy you make it look! I'm picking up a specimen container right now! Bravo sir!

Love this video, so great tips for catching fish!! really impressed! Catching ten yellow tangs is not luck, that’s pure talent. Great job Jake🙌🏻
That was just awesome to watch. Especially the 5 gang all at once!!!
Great job Jake in corralling the yellow tangs together in one take. 😊 introducing more tangs into my 600g will be somewhat of a challenge but I plan on putting 4-5 more in there with the 7 I already have under cover of darkness. EPIC!!! If you hadn't captured the footage I would have never believed it!
Mate, when you caught the 5 yellow tangs.... was like winning the world cup of reefing, so exiting! 🥳
I’m newish to your channel Jake but wow your videos are super informative and very helpful. I’m currently on a 60 gallon project and your videos are helping me along the way 👍🏻

This was fun to watch Jake, tks!
U inspired me so many times
I share your excitement of catching fish more easily than expected
OMG, your catching skills are at top level :) And those yellow tangs are just perfect!
Awesome video and some great techniques to make things less stressful on the fish! 🙌 Love the enthusiasm as always! Nice work! 👍
Jake, that moustache is a typical Tang Police moustache though.

You should really think about growing a horseshoe style moustache. Made my day seeing your moustache.
Wow, 5 tangs in a single catch. This is some of the best CGI I've ever seen🤣
The Yellow Tang whisperer
Appreciate your vids. Seeing how awesome the studio looks is always inspiring. My first tank (18g AIO) just hit 1 year up and running in October.
The timing of this video was perfect. My new powder blue came in today
I cannot believe you just pulled off that magic!
Well done Jake. Been watching your videos from the start.
Rip Jake 😢😢😢😢
Damn Jake, that was actually really incredible man. Well done!
It's so funny to watch you enjoy catching the 5 tangs together lol. Vey well done!
Well done Jake that was great 👍
It's great to see reef builders doing so well that they can afford a cgi department to put 5 tangs in a specimen container. Good information.
So amazing it’s hard to believe
Good day Jake, You can never have too many Yellow Tangs
Kool dad mustache. Your tang catching kung fu is strong.
The video title was how to put tangs together but the real gem was how to catch fish!
This video way actually really cool. I know you had to cut the video when you caught the 5 yellow tangs so you could yell and curse properly.
Such beautiful fish, you have a very nice collection!
Enjoy your channel and all the educational information, tips and tricks!
is the instant nano from vlog 20 still up and running? if so it would be awesome to get an update on it. also whats the coral above the tang at 6:06?
Awesome video. Taught me a lot.
Tang hoarder! Yellow tang hoarder! Lol
Your a Great fisherman! No rod and reel thanks man I enjoyed the cheap thrills... People love fishing it's kid friendly too. Keep up the fun show can't wait for the new articles to read Id love to join the reef builder team tell evan I say hey
Very impressive with the 5 yellow tangs at the end man 👍🏻 amazing jake
HHahha I’m dying right now. So funny how you caught all five in one go!
Best fish catch hands down of all time
Great video. And I just wanted to share the love of Biota for aquaculturing the Yellow Tang.
Thank you! This was so helpful to see. Any advise on capturing anemones that are attached to the rock work out of a tank?
wow that was the most amazing fish catching I've ever seen! lol

Great video and catch of tangs! 😁
this video gave me so much enjoyment. GOOD SHIT with those catches. impressive
🙌 Jake and Evan that was brilliant 👏👏👏
Always memorable the 5 at once lol
Really good video. I know how hard it can be to catch fish in an aquarium. Really good advice to move away from nets.
Man I never even though of using a specimen cup in conjunction with a net. Awesome job!
It’s like trying to wrangle greased hogs
Jake you are forever evolving like a pokemon. 👨🏻💇🏻
Yellow Tang Whisperer!
That’s nice , I do the same but with my sump , have light and a small wave maker and when they got comfy down there , back to the penthouse again 😅👍👍👍
Nice catch.
In my opinion it is very difficult to choose a appropiate fish stock for a tank.
Maybe you can talk about that at Reef Therapy.
i added my 4 tangs powder blue/regal/yellow /mimic all at same time and think was key! 6ft 2ft 2ft and 90% get on well and found most aggressive at lights out for some reason!
When he said “15 year old black tang” I wasn’t expecting him to look 150 y/o 😂😂😂
4:30 he’s got cataracts 👴 🧓
one more superpower of this guy 😮
I never use nets. Bad idea Congratulations on Jake catching fish in one shot
Do you believe an acclimation box would also cut down on aggression when adding a single tang of a different type?
My favorite fish is the yellow tang always has been you're the man you're the man

The fish whisper
Very happy with my biota yellow tang, didn't mind paying the premium for captive bred fish.
Amazing "netting" approach
More like the “anti-netting” approach! 🙌
That was properly amazing
Thank you for the great video. Very informative! I am setting up a 6ft 140g tank and when the time comes, will order yellow tangs from Biota. Would a pair be ok, or is it better to have an odd number?
one, three or more tangs is usually better
@@ReefBuildersVideo thank you!
How many tangs do you think I can have in a 180 mixed reef tank?
Great Video!
To catch 5 tangs in under a minute shows your pro’s!
Great video I have a quick question my 4ftx2ft currently has a hippo and a 2 spot I want to add a dejardini and a tomini will I be successful? The hippo and 2 spot blue eye kole tang are about 2inch.

I really enjoyed that video
Nice dad stash
👨🏻
Jedi level skill!
Would love to know the light settings you have on the Redsea led’s
Using the reset method, could I add two yellow and one purple tang together simultaneously? With the idea of acclimating them together in the same bucket before introducing them into the tank? Thanks in advance 🙏🏽
To add they will all be juveniles and around the same size
Now that's something you don't see every day lol nice catch.
Beautiful tank, and screw the "tang police" trolls
Thanks
those three tangs would be fine but my advice, and what I do, is to add them all at the same time, they should enjoy a 75 gallon for many years
@@ReefBuildersVideo Thanks so much for the quick reply!!
Joe Adam’s = yellow tang Steve Erwin. Great job.
Fish whisperer
So if I have just a Blue Hippo Tang am I safe to add a Yellow Tang (if I ever find one lol) or a Purple Tang? make sure to add a slightly larger tang like described in the video, but still no guarantees on compatibility
5 minute mark, what is that red fish with the horizontal stripe?
