    The best part about Haikyu!! - sympathetic antagonists. Nobody is technically the bad guy. You appreciate the Crows, the Cats, The Iron Wall...The Owls??? Whatever dude, they're hella teams from hella prefectures and I don't begrudge any of them because they're all great.

    The thing I love about Sports Anime
    is that it inspires people to try out Sports they never involved themselves in because of the sheer motivation they felt after watching a Sports Anime.
    Their realism are sometimes inconsistent but they make a good job to still make it "feel" real.
    The over-exaggeration on some moves in order to emphasize things are also well-done most of the time.
    We all Love Sports Anime for different reasons, as long as we enjoy it and helps us to better our body and mind, then Sports Anime will continue to be Loved by many.

    • @noirpuff

      I fully agree with you. I can tell how unrealistic it can be at times. I was never really interested in sports itself and neither was I good at sports but sports anime and sometimes anime in general really inspires and motivates me in all sorts of ways. even in sports which I don't really like. I love that feeling of getting inspired and motivated by something so powerful and that I like as well. I would never skip a scene in haikyuu even if it's about a match which I have probably watched 1000×, it just never gets boring.

    As a girl that played Volleyball for my scholarship at a very high level in my country, Haikyuu has an increidble amount of realism, not only in the mechanics of the sport but also in the emotional aspect, what the players feel or go through is incredible relatable. It has made me cry a lot of times, it has made me very happy.

    1:45 is the real answer. It's not about how real the sport is but about how real the human drama is. The lack of fantasy in most sports anime isn't so much their strength as it is the thing that forces them to play up the real, human moments that build up to, surround and permeate all of their action. And, if you enjoy shounen fights for their dramatic clashes of ideals, sports anime are ALL that. More grounded, perhaps, but also full of wannabe winners testing their metal against eachother with so much weight given to all of it.

  • @ReiTakashi

    Not gonna lie, from someone who personally has no interest in any sports, I have never been so inspired by and bonded so much with my friends over Kuroko No Basketball and Haikyuu!!!
    We literally binged the 4th season of Haikyuu and were screaming and cheering like we were in the crowd but actually we were in a dormitory. The characters got hurt, we felt that pain. We felt the joy when they won as well. Even watching the KNB movie was a thrill to watch with one of my bffs. The sheer amount of energy and hype you get from these animes is on par with any shounen anime you can think of.
    Don't even get me started on the OPs!
    Favorite character will always be my shield, my boi, Tsukishima Kei. Thanks for another great video!

    • @lengmoua6861

      When a setter and team is in the zone, sometimes it feels like that though. Like a 6th sense

    • @jisuk7
      @jisuk7 4 роки тому +18

      It actually is impossible. In volleyball, sets have little to no spin. The fantasy part of haikyuu is the leeway of "double touches". Kageyama's special dropping set would immediately be called as a double.
      All the sets would be, but that makes sense from an animation perspective because the spinning ball is far more cinematic than a static ball moving

    • @anshpatel7171
      @anshpatel7171 4 роки тому +2

      Nope can not spin the set

    • @rxsesforyuki5342
      @rxsesforyuki5342 4 роки тому +4

      It is extremely rare for someone to achieve such skill and technique to be able to make such sets like him but the only part that doesn't really happen is the part where the set starts to spin. It's pretty much impossible for that to happen since you can not hold the ball but only 'push' it in a certian direction and a spin ball can not be achieved without holding it even the slightest. But it is still possible to aim a ball to a certain area, you just need to be very talented and calculative to get it done.

The Character development of Kageyama, Tsukki, Hinata, Nishinoya and the whole team of Karasuno is off the charts. The comedy is also fire. I’ve been playing volleyball for more than half my life. Finding Haikyuu is what got me into anime. As someone who knows a lot about volleyball, it’s fun both from the shared experience angle and the fact that so many points are easy to pick apart. For example, the fact that it takes them to the end of season three to realise that the blockers and the defenders should coordinate to limit attack options. Still, I love Haikyuu so much.

It really captures the emotion and stakes so well. And I love how genuine these experiences were for you, because it’s the exact way so many of us feel when watching. This was just so wholesome aaaaaahhhhhh. I fucking love Haikyuu and this channel so thank you for this wonderful food

    Just found your channel today due to the algorithm. I have to say I'm very thankful to get to watch your video. I was in my high school and college volleyball teams and I loved every second of being on the court. Relating to Haikyuu is not that hard for me, and I experienced that spoiler at the end of Season 1 personally so watching my personal reaction being animated was very heart-wrenching. I also love that you mentioned the teamwork between all the boys because having to depend not only on yourself but on others is a thing Sports Anime gets 1000% correctly all the time. Thank you, so much for this making this video :)

      The algorithm has blessed us! Yeah, sports anime hits different, and more-so when you’ve experienced something firsthand. Both Curt and I (cameraman) know that feeling of almost winning, so that scene just hurts a lot. -Adrian

    Yall seen Prince of Stride Alternative. Made me realize that i didnt need a solid court, or a ball to be active. I could just run, its free and you can do it anywhere. Havnt stopped since. Im not as explosive, as fast and distance sub par. I cant stop, it feels good, its a stress relief and i im not trying to beat anyone. Im just doing it for me. Find what you like, keep at it and have fun. Its not always about the competition. Its about the experience, make it worth your while. ✌

    Hey Kurt! Loved this video. I'm a huge fan of sports anime too, especially where the effort and emotions involved are so real. I liked how how you accurately captured so many aspects of why we love sports anime. One aspect I would have liked to hear about though, is the music in sports anime. For instance, in that scene that starts off depicted as Ushiwaka holding down Hinata and Tsukishima, but finally results in them getting free thanks to the help of their sempais, and where the Karasuno team finally beats Ushiwaka's spike, leading to the point that wins the game - I think moments like that wouldn't be as moving without the violin ost playing in the background :) I guess what I'm trying to say is - one of the reason's I love sports anime, is because they also get the music so f#*&ing right!

    Sports anime can also make you a better spectator because of the attention paid to realism in training, plays and strategies. My knowledge of basketball, tennis, and baseball were greatly improved by series like Kuroko’s Basketball, Baby Steps, and Ace of Diamond. I have way more fun enjoying games with my family without having to ask what’s going on all the time, and I retain the information better because of likable characters and situations. I am currently yelling at episodes of Ace of Diamond like I yell at my sons games 😅 ...just warming up for the season.

    I have the same height as Hiinata but without the hops u know... but I really loved sports and I kind of struggled looking for one back then, until 5th grade when I discovered that in volleyball they have these defense specialists called "liberos" and yeah I trained for that specific position and is now playing for my senior high team. It really feels good when you find a purpose and a place in sports, it's like having a home you can always go back to. Watching Haikyuu give spotlight to liberos like nishinoya and just the position in general just makes me happy because we don't always get that recognition.

      no... spiking is like actually the least important aspect of volleyball. passing is. by far. you can run a whole match without spiking a single ball and still win. If you serve hard, block well and be smart you might not need to spike. you can tip, roll and wipe for a whole match... and win. I've done it before. This season in the championship match of my league we won in 3 straight sets. I scored 10 points. I did not hit the ball once. 3 from aces and the other 7 from smart plays.

    Sports anime can always be distilled into hardwork and determination. However, Haikyu!! is about constantly pushing yourself and others around you to be better. We get to see Hinata appreciate every aspect of the sport and it helps the viewer understand the intricacies of an athlete’s craft.
