It is very handsome - one of the most beautiful cars today. Probably because it references some older classic Ferraris of the 60s while still looking modern.
Great review, and IMO best car Ferrari have made in... decades. I'm not sure about comparisons to the Vantage though. To me, journalists keep making that same error. Comparing this to the Vantage, and in the old days, comparing the old Jaguar XK to the vantage. I think it's thanks to price. Trouble is, the Vantage is flat out a sports car, to be compared with the F-Type. The Roma, and the XK of yesteryear, the _proper_ comparison and true rival are the DB11 and DB9. This thing is a _proper_ GT, and I think that's amazing.
I like the silver. It looks smashing. However, I think I might like the blue a little better with a tan interior. It’s a Great Looking Car. Thank you for the review. I thought it was very well done.
Agreed. I always thought those just screamed insecurity. "LOOK AT ME, I´M DRIVING A FERRARI!!!!!".... "Yes, I know that already, I can see the bloody Ferrari!....."
I've already seen several reviews of the Roma, and I must say I think I liked this one the best. You're right, silver is just not a good color for this car. Definitely rosa. Ciao.
The silver actually grew on me by the end of the review. It really rose in rank from "Oh my god, what have they done to that poor Ferrari" to somewhere about "Who would put such a boring and bland colour on a Ferrari". Pretty much any possible other colour would suit that car better, and if you absolutely must have subtlety in a Ferrari, why not go for black and not make a fool out of yourself in the process?
My Ferrari has an unadorned basic Momo steering wheel & open gated manual gear shift, it too has a small back seat & larger rear boot, plus it has the large areas of windows to easily see out of, essential when overtaking! It was supreme on a swift journey on Saturday afternoon the engine being super smooth & just a joy. My Ferrari is the much under-rated 1988 Mondial 3.2! Buy one & save some £160,000 against the price of the Roma, & get a much more involving experience!
Another great video! How far things have come from buying sheds unseen on eBay! As for the car, it still reminds me in a lot of ways of the Toyota FT1 concept, which I don't mean in a derogatory way. Strange in a way too as some people likened the A80 Supra to a Japanese Ferrari and now its gone full circle to an Italian Supra. I do love the way it looks and it feels as though its almost quite daring for Ferrari to make something this "accessible" and so obviously-not-a-supercar. I'm no luddite so don't get me wrong here but I HATE this trend for a massive screen in the centre console and then your "clocks" (using the term loosely) being yet another big screen, yes the clocks I can see as being a reasonable modern answer to the traditional analogue clock, but the big screen centre consoles just... No. I want the inside of a car to feel like the inside of a car, not a branch of the apple store.
i think that they made it a ferrari for a couple of reasons. 1. they want the name to be able to bring the price up a little 2. they want to bring people into ferrari, not necessarily maserati or alfa. 3. they want people who are normally porsche or aston martin buyers to get into ferrari. maserati and alfa romeo have already been making cars for that category for a long time, ferrari hasnt really had one since the 550. maserati have been kinda low on the quality side lately, even for exotic cars, and i think if they sold this as a maserati, it probably wouldnt have gone too well. maybe if it were after the mc20, it would be the maserati roma
You've made me want an entry level Ferrari... not that I'll ever have the cash... or for that matter turn down one. Your channel is an inspiration for hard work.
I know from my rent a car holidays in Italy that for a country that loves cars there are a lot of piss poor drivers in it. Great vid and definitive review. 👍🏻
I hope this will be the next big video bringing you more of the well deserved subscribers! And this car, whoa. I haven't really liked ferrari styling for the last 20 years but somehow this design is brilliant in my eyes even if i usually tend to hate the hyper futuristic fronts like this.
Well done for the invitation. Clearly they take your reviews seriously and don't just cater for the JWW's of the world. Hope you can review more of their cars and Porsches in different locations. Really like the interior of the car and, while the lack of the emblem on the side is a bit of a sad moment, I do "get" how they've designed it to have class. I think it's a nicely cohesive car from what I can tell of it atm.
but it's such a shame when we start looking at whether it does Apple Car Play etc! Gone are the days when someone would just bring 5 CDs and drive through Europe in a 512M
Been quietly watching since you only had a couple of thousand subscribers! Amazing result getting asked by Ferrari to review the car. :-) What you've achieved in 4 years is insane. Very impressed how you reviewed this as well. Some people wouldn't have been so honest. I love how the Roma looks. Best looking Ferrari since the 456 imo. I wish it sounded better though. This car would have been so awesome with a lower capacity N/A V12. Say a 4.0 litre putting out 600. Alas, not to be.
It's quite a pretty thing with an up to date interior... finally!. I can see it being quite a compelling case for someone looking to get into their first Ferrari and experience the brand!
As usual an honest review, lack of traction an issue on that road and interesting that you had to let that Golf GTI past! Just shows that a well sorted hot hatch can keep a 600 bhp supercar honest on real roads !!
Sorry, James, but the rear end of this car looks lovely to me...stunning in fact...

So much better without the “look at me” badges on the front wings.
Agreed. I always thought those just screamed insecurity. "LOOK AT ME, I´M DRIVING A FERRARI!!!!!".... "Yes, I know that already, I can see the bloody Ferrari!....."
Yep Ferrari wouldn’t allow them on this car. A lot of people stick them on aftermarket. Tacky.
Great video James, good to see you out in that Italian countryside!
I've already seen several reviews of the Roma, and I must say I think I liked this one the best.
You're right, silver is just not a good color for this car. Definitely rosa. Ciao.
Danke Werner!
Blue or green. Don't @ me.
Really good Jay, your best video yet. Not because it's a Ferrari, but because of your honest opinion, and great videography and editing. Bravissimo.
What a beautiful car, to me from all angles.
Great job. I think this could be me next car after my R8
I would have preferred this as a Maserati or even Alfa Romeo
Yeah, I think they are using the allure of a Ferrari badge.
I Agree. It would have been the perfect Maserati GT replacement. It just doesn’t look Ferrari.
Alan Townsley yep
i think that they made it a ferrari for a couple of reasons.
1. they want the name to be able to bring the price up a little
2. they want to bring people into ferrari, not necessarily maserati or alfa.
3. they want people who are normally porsche or aston martin buyers to get into ferrari. maserati and alfa romeo have already been making cars for that category for a long time, ferrari hasnt really had one since the 550. maserati have been kinda low on the quality side lately, even for exotic cars, and i think if they sold this as a maserati, it probably wouldnt have gone too well. maybe if it were after the mc20, it would be the maserati roma
You've made me want an entry level Ferrari... not that I'll ever have the cash... or for that matter turn down one. Your channel is an inspiration for hard work.
Would it fall under grand tourer spec?
Think the blue one looked fantastic
It's a GT, yeah.
Probably my favourite review of this car yet. And your best review too. Nice one. Love that car!
Aston should take them to court
...and maybe congratulated Maranello for demonstrating what (relatively) great value the Vantage now is...with the new grille of course...😉
After years I found a ferrari car unique from it's usual set of cars
Good video of a lovely place and car. Thank you James.
Bentley should be worried. Aston Martin should be petrified.
Aston probably yes but Bentley no way.
Are you still alive?
Ferrari has a reputation for dealing with reviewers who give less than stellar reviews.
Still alive? He gave it a great review. Have no idea what you're smoking.
Wait 2 weeks for the radioactive tiramisu to kick in
The best Ferrari Roma review by far,, well done James.... I never comment twice, until today.
The car looks ok, but the sound is rubbish. It sounds like a 4 cylinder.
Great video and review, best Roma video yet. It's a really nice car, the sound is quite similar to the Mk8 Golf GTi however.
