Trying to use a touch screen, while driving a car this quick, is incredibly dangerous. In fact, I'm surprised these systems are even legal, when texting and driving is illegal in many countries. It's basically the same thing. Even Ferrari have fallen victim to the classic Tesla trap of having every single function of the car controlled via a touch screen. It needs to stop. What was wrong with being able to turn off the A/C or adjust the temperature without having to take your eyes off the road? Fantastic looking car, but the tech killed it for me.
Finally someone who agrees. I absolutely hate the iPads in Teslas, but even Mercedes & Audi are advocating this ridiculous idea of integrating every single function into the touchscreen.
Thats where lower-end brands get it right, especially the Koreans and the Japanese. I’m sure as much we cry for manufacturers to put buttons in cars, too many buttons is overkill, looks nasty at that point. The Asian brands nail that balance of clean and functional design. To be fair, for me, touchscreens aren’t much of a problem if you have a good voice assistant, which is where the touchscreen-loving Germans claw back some praise. They’re such intuitive systems to use, that’s where the asians need to catch up.
