"Anyone who sat through the entire thing in one sitting..." I legit didn't even realize I'd been watching this for 4 hours. So relaxing, beautiful, and fun to listen to Jack.
As someone whos at through this one and the first one back to back straight it was such a amazing ride. Thank you jack for the experience i would have never gotten myself.
So I think I figured it out, the connection in what had happened. So basically: The tectonic plates shifted much more than they should have and one ended up going almost completely over the other, so the one from Lone Sails would be the one on top as the water started to leave it going to the lower tectonic plate, which then made it into a barren wasteland as there was no more water, but all the water that used to be there went into Changing Tide's tectonic plate, flooding it and washing most things away. This made both societies develop different ways of coping with the CT one making everything from trains and towns into boats, and LS changing anything from boats and scrap metal into walking/driving machinery
AAAAHHHH THE LADY SHE HAD A PHOTO OF LONE! For those who don't know Lone was the playable character from the LS. Lone Hendrickson was the Daughter of Ian Hendrickson which if you don't know was the man who invented the okomotive, the main unit in LS (or what Jack called Thomas). In the beginning of LS Lone is looking at her father's grave before she begins her journey. now in this game CT The woman who was found in the boat was holding a photo of Lone. My guess she is the mother of Lone and when the world "split" in two Lone went with her father while the lady stayed on the side of the world with ocean. Now I believe that when her father died Lone was on a journey to meet with her mother (The Lady from the painting). Now I don't know abt this part but there might be a chance the woman is also the mother of the playable character in this game and that Lone and the CT character may be siblings? I don't know abt the whole siblings part but I guess that's what a theory is really!
I love that the first game takes place in an apocalyptic land where the water receded, and then this one shows where all the water went; to another land where the flooding caused its own apocalypse.
Jack: "I'm going to take this plant as far as I can!" *Plant falls into water less than 10 seconds later.* Jack: "and its gone." *plant sinking begging for Jack to come back and save it* Jack: "And moving on!"
Honestly Far: Distant Clouds would be an amazing third installment for this game. Instead of a plane, your little character has to take car of a giant airship.
"I just stood here all night looking at the lights? Why would I do that?" When I played I imagined that just for that moment, the world looked like the people were back.
That's a nice, kinda sad, cool thought. Just to sit there thinking it was a moment civilization returns for that moment to turn unconsciously into hours to only remember it's a fantasy as the sun rises.
I think he stands there the whole night because he’s looking for other people. If you look when we first turn on the lights he looks all around himself trying to find someone or that’s what it appears like. Then after the night is over. He looks more defeated and decided to leave. Which is why I think the achievement is called “what now” because throughout the game we are constantly shown this city in the water with all these building and what appear to be either light houses or guard towers. Which you can see in the background before the city rises. And his hope was to find others there. Then after he stays the night and realizes no one is coming he just decided to keep moving.
For the sails: the little flag at the front 1: always pointed in the direction the wind was going in. 2: When it was at the top the extra sails would come out & give you a boost.
I was literally thinking at the end that a co-op third game would be so fun! Or having to switch between the two characters depending on which "ship" you need to use to traverse the terrain.
co-op would be awesome, there is a co-op game where you need multiple people to manage a spaceship called Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time, it's wild fun because it's hectic, but having a chill game like this and puzzles you need two people for, would be amaaaaazing
I'm thinking that the third game should have an option for co-op, but also Lone and Tide should convert their boat into a proper airship. They've already tackled land and water. But let's not make the ship strictly locked to the air. If the weather is getting bad, you can land it to get past the storm. If there's a huge obstacle in the way, just head airborne. Also if you happen to fall off the ship while it's airborne, have it automatically lower a rope ladder for you to climb up, sort of like how the previous vehicles will automatically stop if they get too far away from you. The control switch that operates the submersion feature would instead control the balloon.
Jack: "I feel like I'm going to crash into things *a lot more* in this one." Jack in the last game: *Crashes into almost every single thing he could possibly crash into*
@@MeCantSpell That's the funniest part about Jack in that game. He, himself, braces for impact. Meanwhile, his characters stands there and stares at the incoming wall. :P
@@jessiehogue. It was the most annoying thing for me, and most people. Him going tHeRE wAS NoTHinG i cOUld dO, when there was clearly something something he knew how to do, was infuriating
@@aguyontheinternet8436 True, but then again, only playing the game is considerably less difficult than making an entertaining youtube video at the same time as playing the game. I understand - and shared - the frustration, but in all honesty, given the same circumstances, and Jack's ADHD, we might not have done much better.
I watched Sean play the first Far and fell absolutely in love with it, so when I heard there was a sequel I immediately bought it and played through the whole game right away. I was so excited to see he was playing it, mostly because I couldn’t wait for him to see the ending. These games are SO amazing. The art, the story (which is somehow so poignant without ever speaking a single word), the characters, the “lore,” the imaginative universe, the color choices, the music, the mechanics, the way they teach you the gameplay without it feeling dumbed down.. it’s just such an incredible game series. Truly a work of art. I really hope they make a 3rd one that offers co-op with both characters or at the very least that one person gets to play as both characters doing different jobs on a mix-matched vehicle of some type. But, even if they don’t release a third. I’m so thankful they created the two they did. They’re brilliant and beautiful and just amazing.
It’s kinda interesting that Jack didn’t notice how the flag on the pole determined how much wind the ship was catching. If it was catching enough wind it would be at the top in the blue and the second sail would come down.
@@Moon-wz9fp I think he was acknowledging the second mast releasing when catching wind as the indicator, because if he was acknowledging the flags height as the indicator.. well, he entirely ignored it immediately after and for the rest of the game.
@@marcusthegamer348 I think in that one he is talking about the swirling wind behind the sails. It only shows up when the sail is catching peak wind. Still.. the little flag is more usefull if he'd notice it
POND SOLUTIONS: You want to buy some pond dye for it. The seagulls can’t see through the water to see the fish. Also add in things like drift wood for the fish to hide under.

Keep it up and do them when you can! I know its hard to find the time to, but its also totally fine that they dont come out as often as shorter videos
I think my favorite part is Jack saying he'll take the plant as far as he can, knocking it into the water, and apparently forgetting that he can swim and dive in said water.
I feel like these developers could make an amazing train game, just a open world train game where you explore and pick up cargo and passengers, riding the rails to some great music
I would love that and because the game would be so simple they could make it into an online game so you would not only be able to do co-op in a single train but also have to pay attention other players trains when passing them by
@@AnzanTheFurry It's prbably not the same? I wonder how long it will take Sean to realize that the dead lady he finds in the ice cave paddle boat was the mother of the other character holding a picture of the red character.

These games are metaphors for life, man. The long journey, the struggles, our parents leaving us behind and in the end it's really all about finding each other.
They really made something special with these games. The atmosphere, the world building and environmental storytelling, it's a great series. And the art, truly amazing! I love the style.
The ending of this game is actually sadder than i thought it would be, since the very start of the first one, lil firekid looks like they just buried their dad, and then in this one boatkid finds their mum(?) dead. the way they both stand their just looking at each other with less than joyful music, to me gives the vibe that they were both expecting to see the other parent. They can be deduced to be siblings as well since mum was found clutching a picture of firekid
@@EzratheRift broke my heart when i played it. Starting at 3:11:30 when he's zoomed in you can see it fall out of her hands at land facing us, revealing lil firekid
Just a small thing, but I really like when youtubers like Seán give their piece at the end of it. It’s why I watch let’s plays, because, like, his commentary helps me digest my own feelings about the game, and really I think it’s the allure of watching let’s plays in general. Like yeah, they’re entertaining, but honestly it’s the genuine commentary that I love after these big games, like after when he did the last of us, or God of War, or even the game that was made by the same person that made the original Stanley parable. Anyway, I just love the introspection man, you can’t pay a subscription on netflix or hulu for that. Also, dude the stamina for a 3 and a half our recording?? Brother, you are awesome 😂
With how these two games have been, I'm really hoping that they make a FAR : Roaring winds or something, where you have an airship type thing. That'd be SICK.
I was about to say FAR:Iron roads but I guess a train may be too similar to the first game. Maybe when they did the above two that they could return to their roots for a bit?
Hey Jack, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but it turns out that blue lady IS the main character’s mother(Or relative/guardian). How I know this is because just before you enter the green house at the beginning where her portrait is, that small room below the ladder has a child’s drawing affixed to the wall in the background. It features the playable character and the blue lady holding hands. And there is a special achievement should you bring the flower (from the greenhouse.) all the way to where her body is. The somber feeling when seeing her only cements the idea of a connection between the main character and her. (Also if you bring the flower and plant it just below the skylight in the house on your ship, it’ll grow even bigger.) And one last thing about the blue lady. When you discover her body, the paper she had in her hand was a picture of Lone (The main character from the first game.) The blue lady might have some connection to her, but that has yet to be seen. I thought someone should mention it, and I hope you see this. The creators of this game are masterful at being mysterious and subtle with their storytelling. Truly a ‘Blink and you miss it’ kind of game.
I think you are the right track but to take it one step further.....I believe the two characters are siblings, one with father (red) and the other with mother (blue). The mother set out to get the red sibling having somehow figured out father died. Maybe the red sibling was given a similar task to find the blue and that is why they headed for the sea.
@@motoxx007 I thought about that too, and that could be the case. If it is, then that just makes the whole story for both characters even sadder. We’ll just have to wait and see with the third game if this is true.

I used to watch jack years ago every day, back in the pink lightning days. This past year i have reconnected with this channel like never before, watching these long videos just makes me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Thank you Jack for the many many years of happiness and positivity
My theory is that the tsunami was caused by the first game. Remember when the giant walker fell? My theory is that shockwave and landing is the first one we heard, and may have caused the already weak and destroyed debris to fall on the dam and cause a tsunami. Or it caused an earthquake that dropped debris, or weakened the dam. Theory change, after hearing the booms in 1:49:10 I think those are the walker legs hitting the ground. It is also possible that the rumble at 2:58:50 is the walker falling Also the picture the corpse dropped at 3:10:10 is of the guy from lone sails.
Yeah, my theory of what the photo was that the corpse was holding was the other civilization. The "blue" civilization realized the collapse of their own so they tried to make their way to the "red" civilization but even those people were having problems. The two civilizations were trying to reach each other in a time of collapse.
@@RosiePies My theory is that both civilizations were just trying to survive whatever cataclysm caused an entire section of the world to lift up a couple miles, dumping all its water into the rest of the world via the giant waterfall in this game. And someone else in the comments said that the dead lady was holding a picture of the first game's protagonist, maybe his mother.

2:26:30 "Someone's gonna point out that there's a God who's crap at climbing as part of the religion" I mean, Hephaestus. Who was a cripple, was probably crap at climbing. Plus he was thrown off Olympus, which is, like, the opposite of climbing and thus caused him to be crippled.
Theory Time: There was some sort of massive continental event that sunk part of the world while drying the other. There was also that huge thing that came from the ocean like giant pipes, as if pumping the water. It's amazing to think about what might have caused the world to become this way.
Somebody else said that maybe a tectonic plate rose due to some insane geological phenomenon, which caused all the water to drain from Lone Sails' area into Changing Tides' area
Imagine if they make a third game in the sky and it’s these two adventuring together and maybe they eventually find a city with actual people in it. That would be so cool! Thanks for the fanatic let’s play, so fun to watch!

I'm thinking that the third game should have an option for co-op, but also Lone and Tide should convert their boat into a proper airship. They've already tackled land and water.

(Also if you bring the flower and plant it just below the skylight in the house on your ship, it’ll grow even bigger.)
And one last thing about the blue lady.

My theory is that the tsunami was caused by the first game. Remember when the giant walker fell? Or it caused an earthquake that dropped debris, or weakened the dam.
Theory change, after hearing the booms in 1:49:10 I think those are the walker legs hitting the ground.
It is also possible that the rumble at 2:58:50 is the walker falling
Also the picture the corpse dropped at 3:10:10 is of the guy from lone sails.
Yeah, my theory of what the photo was that the corpse was holding was the other civilization. The "blue" civilization realized the collapse of their own so they tried to make their way to the "red" civilization but even those people were having problems. The two civilizations were trying to reach each other in a time of collapse.

It is both hilarious and infuriating when Jack doesn’t understand certain game mechanics. Either way I still love every moment of content!!
I wanted to tell him how the extra sails worked so bad, but decided it wasn't doing him much harm and just went with it, hoping he would eventually figure it out.
@@thatguynamedgeorge9218 I was just annoyed
come on guys, he's trying his best
@@eryyy554 he a little confused but he's got the spirit
@@eryyy554 no, I agree, it is just weird to realize that the man I used to look up to as a God is a regular dude that makes mistakes.
“Those emissions your pumping out is why your world is probably like this.” Jack, you have a sail.
He was using the engine when he said that
This comment doesn't make sense lol
@@logicss2893 commenter is saying that he had a choice between the sail and the engine and chose the engine
@@pucamisc there was no wind, he put up the sails when there was wind again
@@mavvi3303 I know, I’m just saying what the commenter was saying.
I feel like Jack would love the game what lives below, it's full of huge monsters and everything. I'd love to see him play that game.
Back to school. Returning after a 7 year 'break'. Excited and nervous and a simple gl at school from smosh was awesome
Nothing more relaxing than watching a 4 hour video of Jack! Far: Lone Sails and Far: Changing Tides are marvellous. The story is very good. The visuals is beautiful. Much appreciation to OKOMOTIVE for this lovely game. I enjoyed watching this!
Jack: "Dude, that's a big fish!"
Meanwhile us: "Dude, that's a whale!"
You know, I speak whale.
I just realised when the camera is looking in at the ship, it kind of looks like a whale?
There's and eye (above the propellers), fins (on the back end, the bits that hold the paddles) and a lil mouth shape (by the front with the exit).
Idk if anyone else sees a similar shape, but it's nead that for a game about water, the main characters vehicle is whale shaped!
You could say the same thing about the first game it also looks like a whale the fuletank is a eye and front door is a mouth
I love the idea of each subsequent game in this series adding a new person to the group and it evolves into a story about finding community despite the hardships that prevede it.
Sadly I believe they have announced their next game won’t be in this universe :(
@@Doc_K rip, it is a nice stopping point for the series though so I'm still happy with these two entries

Jack. You know you could have just used the water/suk lever with it connected to the tank, it would let you move up and down that way just by pulling the lever. XD
Also. Those buoys are signals to go explore under the water. You've been missing like half of the game...
Another note I will take into account when I go back to play it. I'm glad I'm reading these comments man.
ik I realized it the minute he kept unplugging and plugging the water back in. the layout of the game is clearly designed to have you leave it in and micromanage the height and only use it to put anything out if you have to. this playthrough was still pretty enjoyable though.
this sequel is a love letter to what makes this series amazing, it tells every good aspects of the previous installment and incorporating it to the new one. The ending is just the cherry on top.
I was so happy seeing that they take the okomotive with them i have no idea how they loaded it ok the back of the ship but it was so nice
I always love finding the longer play throughs. Having this on well working has made the last almost 4 hrs fly by, and made what I doing feel a lot less tedious.
