I didn't enjoy Dracula so much but a Dowry of Blood is one of my favourite books and the writing is so beautiful. I also wish we could read more of Constanta before meeting Dracula but I still found myself caring about her a lot and rooting for her to be happy. I read Eclipse for spooky season and the real scary thing was Bella kissing Jacob. Maybe the true meaning of spooky season is the toxic friendships we made along the way.
I think Dracula is such a weird book, it definitely doesn't work for everyone. I agree that the writing is wonderful in Dowry; I think that was my favorite part of the experience. It was just enjoyable to read. Also, "Maybe the true meaning of spooky season is the toxic friendships we made along the way" made me cackle 😂
I read The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury, The novelisation of Disney's Hocus Pocus and I've just started a new (to me) vampire book called "How to bite your neighbor & win a wager". The dramatisation of Dracula sounds like a good way to read the book (I've only ever read it physically & the abridged audiobook read by Christopher Lee, which was amazing as he did all the voices for the different characters), I'll need to give that one a try. Especially if it has Tim Curry in it.
I've never heard of The Halloween Tree, I'll have to check that out. And "How to bit your neighbor & win a wager" is a great title 😂 Highly recommend the audible original audiobook! I had a wonderful time reading Dracula that way
