Personally I think the less intricate patterning, the more "evil". If your castle is less of a palace and more of a burg/fortress, it's more "evil" (more militaristic than exquisite). So fewer cone/triangle roofs, more squarish shapes. And the walls should be imposing when standing at the entrance. Don't have the entrance be a long sloped hill, rather have the castle walls just start immediately at a tall height. You can still have a sloped entrance, just make the walls tall at the entrance. For me finding the right area for my castle has always been really hard, as I’ve always been aware of what I might want and what castles needed back in medieval days. For example i waned a mountain next to a river leading in to an ocean as I wanted to make a damn lock for ships to go through. Then I also wanted to have the right grass colours, needed there to be mob spawner to be relatively close etc etc etc.

Lots of great tips here! My castle building has been mostly in creative with my daughter. I've tackled one hilltop fort project in survival, and that's like a castle, I guess. But it was on an SMP, and I didn't have time to build it all out. I did get the manor house done, along with walls, towers, barracks, and a gatehouse, though. And a sewer system. That was one of my favourite builds, to be honest.
Thanks JayDee, castles are so much fun to build. I think the reason I love building them so much is because there's so many ways to build one and so many rooms that it just makes such an interesting build. Never thought about adding a sewer system to one though so i'll have to give that a go at some point 👍
@@BlueNerdMC I tend to stick with smaller scale builds, even though I am building a megabase on an SMP right now. But I will eventually tackle a proper castle. The sewer was more of a second entrance that's hidden. I really enjoyed buliding it.
Ahhh! I wish I found this video before I made my village. This would have been so helpful in my snowy tundra village. I'm coming back to this video when I decide to do a new village in the future!
Perfect video Blue thank you! So far I have built the castle, church and added my own royal mausoleum and graveyard. I just finished the lighthouse and starting on the docks but adjusting to fit my own landscape. I did the interior to the lighthouse myself since there wasn’t a tutorial. I looked back after and thought you would be proud! I’ve learned so much from you! Thank you and can’t wait for the next series.
Another brilliant video! I can’t imagine doing all this planning in survival! Our server has just relaunched and I need to start again but I’m dreading it. You’ve given me lots to think about! PS love the section at around 11mins where filing must be backwards cos the smoke is going down into the chimneys! 🤪
Thank you Sue, planning can take a while to get in place but it definitely helps later on in game. Well spotted on that chimney, lol. I put that piece of the video clip in reverse to see if anyone would spot it, lol. =)
I've stumbled across a few of your videos before which I found really interesting and well explained, so I decided to search your channel up and I instantly subscribed. You're amazing at building and give me lots of inspiration to keep going when I think my build is bad.
that comment about gathering and building and like breaking up the process is so good!!! thank you that will also help me in real life with all my boring homework great video earned my sub edit: and thanks for the tips about lighting the build up to avoid creepers and all the tool tips!! scaffolding is a FANTASTIC idea thanks so much.
As always so eloquent. You have a gift for mentoring. I can't wait to see the new secret project. You have inspired so many people to be creative. Looking forward to the continued journey.
Quality videos like this are exactly why I subscribed. I've been playing mc for about 9 years, ever since I was a little kid, and despite all that experience through my teen years I still have tips and tricks to learn about building, thanks a ton! Edit: I love to impress my friends with castles, so any good videos I can find are an absolute gold mine of info.
I really thought i built my castle layout bug enough, it takes up nearly half a map! But i made rhe walls 3 bricks thick, followed the contours of a mountain with only some terraforming...and its pretty claustrophobic inside, after adding a couple of buildings. I ended up building trading stalls into the walls. I definitely learned a lot, it was my first castle build. Looks great, still have some detailing to do. Thanks for the inspiration
You can add a harbour to anything, you just have to also add a canal. It's cool to have one underground anyhow. Just evenly space dynamite, then clear it up, then fill it.
Your castle builds are the best ones out there. I enjoyed the hell out of following the 28 pt one, and it's one of my favourite builds in my world! You're amazing!
@@BlueNerdMC Ooh I can't wait! I shall be following along with you no doubt! I still get a real kick when I go down into that multi-floored storage room. It was worth all the hassle of digging it all out lmao :)
I'd add, think about if you want your castle to look like it's from a specific place and/or time too before starting research. That can drastically change things, but can also help with deciding what buildings/rooms to add or allow for. Really good video Blue, lots of great information and ideas.
Thank you Dreyma and yes great point actually, Time and place are definitely something to look at before planning a build, it would definitely help with more accurate planning and know what sort of rooms to include =)
My friend and I made your castle from that tutorial a while ago in my old realm. I created a new world for a new start for us, but now that I watched this video, I kinda wanna go back and finish up and decorate the village around it. Can’t wait to get building! Thanks BlueNerd!! 😄
I'm currently building a city in a creative world and just last week realized that the harbor I made doesn't make much sense being on a river. So just a pro tip for anyone building with worldedit, it's not too much of a challenge to artificially turn the other side of your river into an ocean, assuming you haven't built on the other side of that river. Just use //brush air 5 while holding a tool to remove spheres of terrain, then use //smooth 5 5 while holding another tool to smooth it out and make it look natural. afterwards, you can add in textures as you please and then use //fixwater [radius] to, obviously, fix all the water in the area. Make sure your radius isn't some absurd number or else you might be waiting awhile!
The only thing input I'd give is when planning your videos try and get all the shots you'll need, reversing shots make things look weird, like the smoke going INTO the chimney rather than coming out of it. Thanks so much for the ideas!
I've just got 1 thing to say about your builds: they're absolutely stunning! I wish I could do half as well as you. I'm playing Vault Hunters & want to build a huge dark fantasy castle in a mountain biome, complete with lots of monsters, including a dragon, & dead bodies, but am feeling a bit overwhelmed. You've given me some useful pointers on how to deal with it. Thank you. :-)
Thank you for this video! I suggested it a while ago in your Discord and I like to think it was your trigger to make this. Especially the planning and location tips will seriously improve my building capabilities. -Snoflakes
this what is most useful for any builds, guides on how to make a type of build, not how to make a specific build. As you can learn somethings from building things people have already made, but learning how to build your own builds makes it much easier to learn
this helped SO MUCH bro, thanks! I've been doing my own 50-day build challenge and decided to do medieval castle stuff but i've been struggling so much with layout and stuff so this really helped - now i know better for next time! :D
I wanna do a big castle, much bigger than what I've made before, so this is part of prep for this in survival minecraft. 😅 I'm glad for all these tips. I've never done a build so big so I'm nervous lol. Thank you for this!
with the "biomes o plenty" mod you can get volcanoes in your world, i made a deepslate castle on a huge one i found you can also use the "macaws bridges" "macaws stairs" "macaws doors" "macaws fences & gates" and "macaws windows" mods to enhance it further i downloaded some really nice lighting mods that went perfect with my castle, all i needed was the guidance from this video and it looked great thanks
Again a fantastic planning and how to layout for your castle build. I have a question as to when you used the wool to layout your pattern. Would using cobble or something else work in a survival world situation? I seem to always miss judge or not pick right bioms for we’re I build. Is it better to look for a place in pictures and concept art after finding a spot or the other way around? I seem to sell myself short on space or everything is way to spread out and looks stupid. It is great the way you go thru your thinking process and how you build. Just another great video and can not wait for the next. 😁☕️
Thank you David, in survival using cobblestone or stone would be fine for the layout. I used the color wools more so for the video to indicate different parts of the build. When planning is survival maybe use a few different blocks to indicate different things like walls, buildings and towers and maybe use cobblestone, granite and diorite. It's not essential but just gives a clearer idea of the layout. For the location I would probably look at pictures for ideas first then once you have an idea of the style you want to build you can find a location that would be more fitting for the build. Sometimes finding location first can make it harder because you have to make you builds work with the location and terrain but it would be easier working from the right location and biome so always get your inspiration and build ideas in place first. I think a lot of people often find themselves with too much space between builds, but one thing I find that helps is to think about how wide you want your paths or roads and then think about where to place the house or build so that it fit's closely to to the road. For example I usually use about 3-5 blocks for pathways then i allow for a little grass area between the house and path, so if houses are on both sides of the road I would have about 7-9 blocks gap between the builds and this usually gives me a closer and more compact feel to the village or town. Sometimes I bunch a few builds next to each other like a row of builds this also helps create that closer and more compact feel to the village too. I'll work on another video for planning villages/towns as I think that might be more helpful and give a bit of a better explanation for planning a village and create that closeness between builds. 😀👍
@@BlueNerdMC that sounds fantastic to me. Yea I kind of thought looking at art work first for the builds would be better. Like right now on the server building a fort (cannon fort from the 1700’s and 1800’s with a navel kind of port at one end of an island then transitioning to a town at the other with a governor mansion on this smaller island sitting off the main one. Then build in port and out in the water frigates and one man-of-war on either side. LOL sometimes I think my imagination is way bigger then my building skills. Thank you for your input
In my opinion you should have an idea of what you're looking for (a mountain castle, a white castle, a fantasy castle, a castle in the woods, etc.) and then search for images that fit that. Once you find one that inspires you to build, find a location that fits your vision. And as far as cobblestone, you could always start with that and swap it out later as you get resources, but a castle completely made of cobblestone would be a bit busy. Perhaps if you used polished andesite every 5 layers or so as a leveling block it would work alright. :)
Thank-you for a very clear and useful video. These conceptually oriented videos, like your Landscaping 101 series, are very helpful in identifying and thinking about the principles underlying building and terraforming.
I've once visited a really nice castle that also had a small pamphlet handout with a 3D graphic of what it was layed out like and I've sat around wanting to build it for a while now. Really should get going on that.
the last minute tips ''world tour'' gameplay looked sick and really big. is a series of that complete build coming perhaps or do you have different plans for a serie?
Thanks buddy, my new series is actually something completely new that i've been working on but i have had lots of request for that castle and city so it's definitely being considered to make a tutorial series for it too. =)
Your videos are impressive, thanks to them I have learned too much and my constructions have improved a lot although I hardly understand what you say because of my very basic English, thanks for doing such good tutorials
Planning make a castle in my spawn area, so this video is very helpful, thank you. Actually this is my first map that I will really focus in building my own creations, so, I need sharpen my skills hahah
I've been building for a few years now but one (one of very very many- aha :')) things I could never build, was a caste- and this video has helped so much so thank you :DDD
If I build castle I start small, with the Keep or an tower for example, adding to my first castle yard an second one later on, creating an multilayert defense (big historic castle often have gone an similar way and have been built over centuries). My Inspiration comes often from the Terrain I find and my overal knowledge of historic castle and also the ones I already visited doing my live. One question to your basement you have built doing the video, for what is the second gate Inside your castle yard? Because it didn't protect the keep or Don Jon It was an nice video to watch I also realy like to build castles in minecraft.
Hehe I found a nice mountain village in survival and wanted to build a castle next to it, then realized I needed to plan it out better because of the environment and some lack of space. When I get burn out I go on explorations and farm some materials, and sometimes add or upgrade houses for the villagers
Hey blue. I would love a tutorial for the castle you showed in this video, and can you please show us your shader settings because your game looks amazing
I love your video's so much, they are very clear to follow. I hope you will do more video's like the castle tutorial. Like tutorials for big builds. I hope you will do tutorials for the builds shown in this video as well. :3
If you found time to make a tutorial out of this castle I'd build it in survival and even post a screenshot of it to prove I did it, absolutely beautiful build, as always
Decide grid/modular design your using and test it in creative fully. I use 3 blocks wall then 1 block. This means 3x3 rooms, or 7x7 rooms or 11x11 rooms but this means no double door unless you break symmetry/grid/modular design. Start with extremely low wall and make up basic area then clean it up with your grid then decide towers, entrances etc. In very least walls, towers and entrances through wall should attempt to follow rule.
Do you ever add anything into your builds that give the appearance they’re occupied? Like armor stands with a head…in a room, on a castle wall, etc.. Add in some villagers?
Idk if this will help anyone else, but it might. This is what I do when planning a build. I use graph paper. Kinda silly but if you use one square for block you can plan out builds really well. And then use it as a template later on. As well as being able to erase and whatnot.
I wish I saw this before i started building mine, although its not as big as these ones. I sure with I hadnt thought of it as purely a survival castle and had added decorative rooms like dining halls and kitchens to name a few
I have attempted to Incorporate your building techniques In to my 1st Minecraft world at the start of lockdown (hence my user name) some Successes and fails I am now about to attempt another castle but this time in the skyblock map thanks for the advice think I will approach it better prepared
I had sort of a burnout because of the lack of proper planning. I wanted to build a town, but it was at the time when I had already developed my area quite a bit, and because I placed those buildings without anything in mind for the future, there wasn't much space for roads. It also didn't help that there wasn't a good place to put a harbor in. So, having learned from these mistakes, I have found a new area for a city, got rough plans and eager to build. However, I have decided that I shouldn't make such Napoleonic plans while my base area remains a mess - I literally have a deforested and flattened out island left from the previous project right next to my starter house. So now I've decided to take an "intermediate step" before jumping into the deep end - to build myself a castle on that island first, since it's a perfect spot for it.. And I already got plans for it and eager to start testing them out. However, another issue arose: clashing block palettes. Originally I had intended my base to utilise deepslate as its primary stone block, and so far it worked fine. But it's a different thing with castles - because they are mostly made out of said stone, especially the medieval ones. And deepslate is painful to texturise, with so little block variety. So I'm contemplating if I should opt for regular stone castle, which would not only mean my crashing defeat, but also that I'd probably have to replace all deepslate for stone in most of my current builds, to match the block palette. And as you said in the video yourself, that task would be just as painful.
I believe he will upload more frequently once he finishes all the planning for his new tutorial series. He wants to get it just right so there aren't any changes off camera, or having to move a house 3 blocks to the left. Once he gets the layout and all that done the way he wants he can focus more on tutorials, let's plays, etc.
Thank you Blue for all that you do! I love building in Minecraft (and I absolutely adore you builds in Minecraft!), but my biggest issues is details and scale.. I never know how to detail. I can build big houses and Im no longer afraid to build roofs thanks to you, but details and scale is my nemesis if Im not following a tutorial. Im starting to like the way I do texture variation, but I just dont know what to do to windows etc. I dont have a "portfolio" so to speak of details I can add.. I can see a build and like it, but I cant figure out how its done without tutorials.. Could you possibly make a video or something about detailing and how it can be implemented in a build? Sorry if something sounds off, Im from Sweden :P Lots of love from Josephine!
Thank you so much Josefin, scale and details can definitely be challenging when building. I will work on a video that should hopefully offer some more tips and guidance for scaling builds and maybe share examples of details and how to go about adding them to builds =)
when i make a castle, the basement floor is the prison and the armory, the ground floor is the "palace" kind of space, the first floor is the place where you process documents and get approvement from government officials. on the first floor is also the staff room, where servants sleep. the second floor is the throne room. the throne room is also the meeting room, where cabinet members, counts, and dukes meet up, and talk about future plans for the kingdom. the second floor is also the "balcony" where the king can talk to his people, and next to it is the storage room with a heck ton of open windows to keep them cool and prevent stocks from spoiling. the third floor is the king's bedroom. and there is also located the bedroom of his princes, and guest rooms for important visitors. i modelled my castle from city halls. my father told me about city halls. they are a place where you process documents, get approvement s and so on. and in the basement is a prison to temporarily house criminals. another i do, is i build castles surrounded by mountains, hills, rivers. it doesn't have to be super close, maybe a few hundred or thousand block distant is enough. and then i connect those natural landmass with a wall. so you can think of the castle as something like, a castle surrounded by mountains and rivers which are connected by walls. another thing is i try to put the villages a bit farther away from the castle. i do that to give it a strategic.purpose, so if the first line of defenses (mountains and initial walls are breached) and the castle is sieged, there is not much suburban areas where the enemies can hide. so u can think of castle - some open field - village - some open field - initial defenses yep
I was listening to this video in the background while playing minecraft and I swear the sound you use in your transitions scared the hell out of me because I thought it came from the game and I couldn't figure out what it was and why it was following me everywhere, I'm so dumb LMAO
Also with the desert builds: reference photos! Architecture in deserts are different than westernized/European buildings for a reason. Also: don’t fall into the bland trap, like he said. There are colorful fabrics and spices, desert plants, etc. get creative. Mine craft doesn’t have palm trees/etc. so you have to make your own.
That's a tough one. If it is hideous you will hate using it, and if it doesn't work the way you want you will get frustrated using it. They are both equally important, but at the end of the day it's up to your specific needs. Is it more important that it looks good, or that it works? Is it more important that it's realistically accurate, or that it's beautiful to look at? Is there a middle ground where you can have it look pretty decent and still work the way you want? Personally I'd rather something work and ask my friends for ideas on how I can dress it up if I can't come up with something. There's a few channels on his discord that people do that sort of thing in regularly actually. :)

Was watching this thinking the same 👍
Same
Been a year now. How is the progress going? Is it still a work in progress, or is it finished?
You're amazing at building and give me lots of inspiration to keep going when I think my build is bad.
that comment about gathering and building and like breaking up the process is so good!!! thank you that will also help me in real life with all my boring homework
great video earned my sub
edit:
and thanks for the tips about lighting the build up to avoid creepers and all the tool tips!!
scaffolding is a FANTASTIC idea thanks so much.
Love how the fourth castle you are about to make series on looks great
As always so eloquent.
I just discovered this channel and it's been the best thing for my Minecraft experience. Thank you for your service and dedication lol
Planning to try to build a castle for the first time, that video was helpful, thanks. :3
Your builds look amazing! I'm going to use some of these tips in my next castle build for sure!
Your castle builds are the best ones out there. I enjoyed the hell out of following the 28 pt one, and it's one of my favourite builds in my world! You're amazing!
Thank you Mother of Imps, I'm really glad you enjoyed the castle. I had so much fun building that series and considering a new castle series soon. =)
@@BlueNerdMC That's why I call her "Dreymazing." She's talented, smart, funny, upside down, etc.
Thank you. :-)
Such a big help..
Deserving of the like❤
Great job man.. appreciate it
Thank you for this video! I suggested it a while ago in your Discord and I like to think it was your trigger to make this. Especially the planning and location tips will seriously improve my building capabilities.
-Snoflakes
Great advice! The castles you've built are awe inspiring.🤩
I'd love to see an interior one of these it's so helpful
Spilting the big project up into little projects and sections can always help a lot!
Found this for my kids to get castle building done better. Thanks and subbed!
this what is most useful for any builds, guides on how to make a type of build, not how to make a specific build. As you can learn somethings from building things people have already made, but learning how to build your own builds makes it much easier to learn
I’m excited for the new build series!!!! Hurry up I can’t waittttt
Very cool tutorial, love this world ♥️ also what I needed =) thank you my friend
Who doesn’t love building castles, plus blue build a gothic castle with the new favourite block the black one ,!
this helped SO MUCH bro, thanks!
Thank you for this!
with the "biomes o plenty" mod you can get volcanoes in your world, i made a deepslate castle on a huge one i found
you can also use the "macaws bridges" "macaws stairs" "macaws doors" "macaws fences & gates" and "macaws windows" mods to enhance it further
i downloaded some really nice lighting mods that went perfect with my castle, all i needed was the guidance from this video and it looked great
thanks
Great video, really really helpful! 😄
That castle is a beautiful piece of work, inside and out. You have to be my favourite Minecraft builder/UA-camr.
Thank you for your hard work xx
its been 10 seconds and i LOVE the castle at the start
also here in 2 minutes
Thank you UltraMeWe, i'm glad you enjoyed the video. Hopefully it was helpful =)
I'ma make a DND world so I'm so happy I mainly get good ideas from you thx
Im already a good builder with solutions to getting burned out, already built myself quite a castle and yet i still watch these tutorial vids
@@BlueNerdMC you'd have my vote on that too for a series on that one😍
But excited either way for whats coming
Blue… please please please do a tutorial for the new castle, the one labelled top secret! It’s absolutely stunning!! 🥰
Nicely done video mate, helped me plan our spawn a bit better.
Your videos are impressive, thanks to them I have learned too much and my constructions have improved a lot although I hardly understand what you say because of my very basic English, thanks for doing such good tutorials
This is such an inspiring video
We didn't ask for it but we get it.
Thanks 😃
Planning make a castle in my spawn area, so this video is very helpful, thank you. Actually this is my first map that I will really focus in building my own creations, so, I need sharpen my skills hahah
I've been building for a few years now but one (one of very very many- aha :')) things I could never build, was a caste- and this video has helped so much so thank you :DDD
Thanks for this idea!! Can’t wait for the build tutorial series 😊😊
Because it didn't protect the keep or Don Jon
It was an nice video to watch I also realy like to build castles in minecraft.
Hehe I found a nice mountain village in survival and wanted to build a castle next to it, then realized I needed to plan it out better because of the environment and some lack of space.
When I get burn out I go on explorations and farm some materials, and sometimes add or upgrade houses for the villagers
These castle projects will be best for the new montains
Hey blue. I would love a tutorial for the castle you showed in this video, and can you please show us your shader settings because your game looks amazing
As always, great tips! Thanks
YES! This is excactly what i need TYSM! plus keep up the amazing work and content keep it up! :)
Your an incredible builder, I love your style… These tips were so helpful
Decide grid/modular design your using and test it in creative fully. I use 3 blocks wall then 1 block. This means 3x3 rooms, or 7x7 rooms or 11x11 rooms but this means no double door unless you break symmetry/grid/modular design. Start with extremely low wall and make up basic area then clean it up with your grid then decide towers, entrances etc. In very least walls, towers and entrances through wall should attempt to follow rule.
most underrated channel on youtube.
Do you ever add anything into your builds that give the appearance they’re occupied? Like armor stands with a head…in a room, on a castle wall, etc.. Add in some villagers?
Thank you so much this will help my at my mega base project. I love your tutorials you are amazing builder.
Idk if this will help anyone else, but it might. This is what I do when planning a build. I use graph paper. Kinda silly but if you use one square for block you can plan out builds really well. And then use it as a template later on. As well as being able to erase and whatnot.
This really helped my survival world thank you so much!!!! 😁
And as you said in the video yourself, that task would be just as painful.
thanks for the amazing video! I am currently transforming a pillager outpost into a gigantic castle and make it some sort of pillager hogwarts.
Desperately waiting for your survival series video 😚🤗please upload frequently
I believe he will upload more frequently once he finishes all the planning for his new tutorial series. He wants to get it just right so there aren't any changes off camera, or having to move a house 3 blocks to the left. Once he gets the layout and all that done the way he wants he can focus more on tutorials, let's plays, etc.
As always late but as aways a amazing video keeps it up bro❤
Your videos are so perfect and organized 🥰🥰
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing!
This will help me alot , thx for the last tip!
I will work on a video that should hopefully offer some more tips and guidance for scaling builds and maybe share examples of details and how to go about adding them to builds =)
now i can make my own castle thanks for such a vid
I saw your Nordic gate tutorial and love the design!! Think you’ll make more Nordic buildings?
when i make a castle, the basement floor is the prison and the armory, the ground floor is the "palace" kind of space, the first floor is the place where you process documents and get approvement from government officials. on the first floor is also the staff room, where servants sleep. the second floor is the throne room. the throne room is also the meeting room, where cabinet members, counts, and dukes meet up, and talk about future plans for the kingdom. the second floor is also the "balcony" where the king can talk to his people, and next to it is the storage room with a heck ton of open windows to keep them cool and prevent stocks from spoiling.
the third floor is the king's bedroom.
and there is also located the bedroom of his princes, and guest rooms for important visitors.
i modelled my castle from city halls. my father told me about city halls. they are a place where you process documents, get approvement s and so on. and in the basement is a prison to temporarily house criminals.
another i do, is i build castles surrounded by mountains, hills, rivers. it doesn't have to be super close, maybe a few hundred or thousand block distant is enough. and then i connect those natural landmass with a wall.
so you can think of the castle as something like, a castle surrounded by mountains and rivers which are connected by walls.
another thing is i try to put the villages a bit farther away from the castle.
i do that to give it a strategic.purpose, so if the first line of defenses (mountains and initial walls are breached) and the castle is sieged, there is not much suburban areas where the enemies can hide.
so u can think of
castle - some open field - village - some open field - initial defenses
yep
10:04 Will there be a tutorial on this "Top Secret Build"? I'd love to see one
The tips are very helpful, just wondering what is the minecraft seed at 7:00? ( It looks perfect for building castes )
Bro, I like your video. Can you make 100 days series?
I was listening to this video in the background while playing minecraft and I swear the sound you use in your transitions scared the hell out of me because I thought it came from the game and I couldn't figure out what it was and why it was following me everywhere, I'm so dumb LMAO
Thanks dude you just gave me inspiration
WoW your videos are so perfect and helpful!!
Do you have a video explaining the colors you use for your blueprint? It seems like a good system
I love all the builds that you showed in this video
Also with the desert builds: reference photos! Architecture in deserts are different than westernized/European buildings for a reason. Also: don’t fall into the bland trap, like he said. There are colorful fabrics and spices, desert plants, etc. get creative. Mine craft doesn’t have palm trees/etc. so you have to make your own.
Any tips for form vs function? I'd love to make a grand base for a survival world and still have convenient storage and farms
