This is very inspiring version of this amazing tune Jim! Thanks for sharing. And, bflat elevates this tune to something amazing In my opinion! Love to play it in bb.
Some great technique here. You seem to be taming the highest notes with throat (?) vibrato so that they are not too piercing. I have a generation in b flat which i have tweaked with blue tack stuck in below the fipple (i was told that this might improve the sound?) I shall now try to reproduce the tune from your own fingering. Many thanks for your video.
Andy Moss Glad you enjoyed the video. About high notes ; Try to think of playing them by blowing faster rather than blowing harder. It also helps a lot I find to slightly round your mouth ( as if about to whistle ) when playing high notes. This allows for a faster / smoother breath flow. I hope this helps. P.S. Find a music shop that allows you to try a whistle before you buy. This Generation bflat was chosen by me from a whole box for it’s nice tone. They are not all the same. P.P.S. The blue tack thing is a good idea though I never used it on this whistle. Thanks for the comment and keep playing matey 🙂
Brilliant playing Jim, I tried playing this on a high d but the second octave noted were too piercing so I gave it a miss, will try again now on a Bb or lower!!
I like the videos best where it is solo whistle , not mixed with other stuff. It is so refreshing
Beautiful😊
This just popped up. You play beautifully!
Thanks. It’s a really beautiful tune to play.

+Ian White Thanks Ian.
7 years later, same. as long as the whistle i ordered from aliexpress arrive on time, 15 days passed, another 15 to go
Get a tunable high D. Or don't blow too hard on the second octave I've a high D Killarney and it has the best of both worlds
Bravissimo!
Thank you.
