    Thanks for this one Adrian.
In the early '90s, I purchased a well used '67 Galaxy XL hardtop with a 390 4bbl automatic in Riverdale Illinois.
It was red with a black bucket seat/consol interior.
Although the door jams and underside of the trunklid & hood were painted red, the original lime gold paint was visible in spots.
After seeing those two hard tops in your video, gleaming in the sun, wow what a great color.
    In around '96 I traded her for a '79 F-150.
(needed a truck for my sign business)
The best one in your video was that tasty Custom 500 with the 390 4 speed.
Great memories but I long for the quiet ride and smooth power delivery of that XL...

@nealsidor1323, you are most welcome! I honestly thought "The History of Lime Gold / FoMoCo Color Code "I"" was going to be a pretty straight forward video to make, then I remembered the big availability change partway through the 1967 model year, followed later by the discovery of Aspen Green on the '68 Lincoln Continental and Lime Gold on the early 1970 Ford Mavericks.
I'm working on video #14 now and it's going to cause a bit of a stir, me thinks!

Years back one of my uncle’s drove their new 67 or 68 T-bird from CA to our house in IL. I was around 9 years old, first car I ever saw with power seats. I remember playing with the driver’s seat so long the seat motor shut off from high temperature. I hid in my room thinking I broke something. Later when they left our house the seat was functioning again, uncle Mike never knew anything about it. I can not remember the color of that car though, just the seats. 😂

First congratulations to hitting 1K subscribers! Secondly, another great video. FYI, as a long time Cougar, guy, I can tell you that this color was the most popular one on '67, '68 and '69 Cougars. Not my favorite color -- and I've had two Cougars (a '67 and a '68) painted this color! At least the second one had a fresh paint job, which did help it "pop" a bit. Another interesting, well researched video, Adrian. My '68 Mustang Fastback 289 was originally painted in Lime Gold. I only found this out when I got the Marti report which showed the door data tag was fake to reflect its colour change to Acapulco Blue code D. I just had my 67 Mustang Lime Gold repainted.
But today's Ford lime gold color "2041A" is "too yellow and gold" compared to the original Lime gold paint on the car. So I chose to repaint it with a Land Rover color which is closer to the Lime Gold of the time.

I looked at so many Dallas-area 67 Cougars, and you are right about it being the most popular color of 67, because most of the Cougars were in Lime Frost, usually with matching interior. My 65 Lincoln has exterior paint color code "C", labeled as "Med. Ivy Gold Met." in the shop manual. Interior trim code is "88" labeled "Lt. Ivy Gold Met. Leather". Both of these colors are more light green than gold. I'm sure there must be a good story behind these as well.

    • @adrianclements8916
      @adrianclements8916  10 місяців тому

@mec7568, many of the 1960s FoMoCo shop manuals have a generic description for the paint colour associated with each COLOR code, which is why your 1965 Lincoln Shop Manual shows that COLOR Code "C" is "Med. Ivy Gold Met." while the actual Lincoln marketing name for this paint code is actually "Persian Sand". COLOR Code "C" was called "Honey Gold" when applied to a Ford and "Ivy Gold" when applied to a Mercury.
The "1965/72 Lincoln-Mercury Master Parts and Accessories Catalog" lists 1965 Lincoln TRIM Code "88" as light ivy gold "Crinkle" grain leather and light ivy gold "Crinkle" grain vinyl. It isn't listed, but I would expect that the cushions are leather while the bolsters are vinyl.

@hunkydorian, I have looked through many 1961-63 paint chip charts, and cannot come up with a clear answer here. Corinthian White was used until the 1963 model year and was COLOR Code "M", and then Wimbledon White debuted with the 1964 model year, also COLOR Code "M" but with a different mix code because it was a different colour. I have a 1967 ford galaxie 500. The color looks like lime-gold. Checking on the drivers door, it says color Z, which I found to be sauterne gold. Do you think this is correct? Oh-- I just subscribed to your channel.

@gened7756, you are 100% correct that COLOR Code "Z" is called Sauterne Gold. It's a medium gold-green metallic paint colour, while Lime Gold is medium green metallic colour. Please be sure to check out video #12 which features a Sauterne Gold 1967 Ford Country Squire DFRS (Dual-Facing Rear Seats) 4-door station wagon:
