Ukrainian refugees find sanctuary in Co Galway castle

  • A number of Ukrainian refugees have been settling into their new surroundings in an unusual setting on the outskirts of Galway.
    The women and children, from various locations in Ukraine, are being accommodated in Ballindooley Castle, a short distance from the city.
    The property was bought in 2016 by Armagh man Barry Haughian. He was moved to offer it to those fleeing the war after seeing the devastation unfolding in eastern Europe on television reports.
