We got to Hemsby One a bit late after an awful journey, NOT helped by spending ages cruising Hemsby without finding the camp.... Spent all that night in the old (small) Norfolk Bar without bothering to go into the main ballroom, just catching-up with old friends over some brown ales. Happy days, until we were woken-up early Monday morning by the over-keen security in our bedroom checking the tv etc was still there, remember how we "had" to donate into their bucket to escape a full car strip-search on leaving the site. Ah well.

I remember the having to donate into the bucket thing, was so much better when me and my mates started staying on Hemsby Beach site instead.

Thanks Rockin Red Rover, yes those early Hemsbys were pretty wild, in those days I remember having to step over bodies to get to the bar, a lot tamer now. The red Capri belonged to my mate Darrin, he is the one in the black shirt at the end of the film. He spent over £4000 on that car, him and his dad did most of the work on it. It was sold to a guy in Birmingham in 1990. According to DVLA records, the car was last on the road in 2012.

No prob Rusty, yes it's rather tamer nowadays (thank God!). Must admit in those days I was too "scared" to do the Norfolk bar very often, despite my having a good grounding at the Brum Powerhouse dos in the mid 80s. Sounds like the Capri work was worthwhile then, if it was still going so much later, well done to Darrin and his dad, hope they made a profit when they sold it. I was waiting for a sting in the tale, glad there wasn't one. My dad and I spent a heckuva lot of time and ££ on a Mk 2 Cortina 1600E, bit "modern" I know but a beaut. Eventually gave-in and sold it to a "carefull" neighbour who's son soon wrote it off, broke our hearts to see it upside down... Great tune BTW, one of my favourites.. atb J
