- a Vauxhall Cresta parked on display at The English Riviera Classic Car Show, Paignton, England
this lovely car was built in 1965 and still looks fantastic!
thanks for watching :)
Beautiful car. 👌
she certainly is :)
While I prefer the 50s version, with it's bench front seat, this is still a really nice car. Much nicer than today's cars.
i agree :)
Should still be making them now, with 2020 tech.
i agree !!
An interesting little story about one of these, are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin.
I was working at Syd Abrams, a Vauxhall and Bedford main agent in Manchester, around 1966, there was one of these parked on the lube bay adjacent to the forecourt area where a variety of vehicles were parked, along came the auto electricians apprentice who decided to reverse the Cresta " automatic" off the said lube bay, unfortunately somebody had removed the name tags from the pedals, the 3.3 litre automatic Vauxhall Cresta shot out of the aforementioned lube bay in reverse, terminal velocity unknown, until its progress was somewhat reduced due the several new and used vehicles of various types that got in its way and involved in the ensuing carnage. Needless to say the works and general managers took a dim view of the proceedings, the body of mechanics of which I was a lesser member were having a hard time keeping their faces straight. The young offender was told to go home, which he did. I never saw him again and Mr. Barry, the auto electrician, duly ended up with a new lad. This model always recalls that incident. The moral of the story is, " Know thy pedals"
You can see the 64 Impala influence.
she is a beauty :)
