Mazdaspeed 3 - BNR S5 Turbo - Base Map Pulls (First Drive After Winter Storage)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 чер 2024
- In this video we take the Mazdaspeed 3 out for a spin after it had been sitting in the garage all winter. It's always amazing how rowdy this car feels when I don't drive it for a while, and even though it's just on a base map hitting about 17 psi of boost, it still puts a massive smile on my face. So far the BNR S5 Turbo is absolutely fantastic. It does feel quite a bit more laggy than the S4, but it makes up for it big time in the higher rpm's. Stay tuned as we slowly dial in the tune, and start spraying additional fuel from the 6th port aux fuel injection kit. Enjoy the video! Please like, share, and subscribe :)

You know you look forward to these videos when you like it before it even starts😂😂😂
Oh hell yeah, built engine, bnr s5, hopefully an aggressive tune in the future. Can’t wait to see you take your car to the track
Absolutely dude, I'm pretty excited to start tinkering again!
Soooooooooooo glad to see you fine fellas back!!
She absolutely rips! Love it
Glad to see it up and healthy! Sounds awesome! Glad you're back!
Thanks brother!
Nice video.ur car is always so clean and ur work is always so perfect.u can see there is love for speeds in ur work
Thanks a lot! I've always been obsessed with this car and it's always been good to me
Welcome back, excited to see more content. I'm going to be running the Turbosmart T40 setup that you have on my wifes BNR S3. Thank you for that.
Awesome brother glad to hear :)
Wooh! anotha one🤙 glad to see her on the road again just got mine tuned by freektune :) and boy do these things skoot even with a ko4
Thanks man, yeah a custom tune just wakes these things right up
Bro u crack me up u r soo funny 🤣😅👆
Really excited for you getting it back on the rolls 😆
I'm always learning stuff, and technical stuff from your videos, keep it up it won't blow this time it's well built, go for it, we're all excited to see it all tuned up!
Haha thanks man! I'm super excited also. More to come!
What an awesome build. Glad to see the engine is good
Thanks a lot :)
I was wondering where you guys been. Glad your back! Enjoy the videos
Thanks eh ;)
@@WannabeTuners what tires do you run?
It sounds awesome and angry at the same time.🤘
Welcome Back!
Thanks man :)
The legend has returned
Haha that's hilarious 😆
Dude it sounds nuts! You gotta take me out in it once this lockdown is over!
Absolutely brother!
Great vid as always 🙌good to see her on road again, hopefully you can dial in that Boost by gear if possible for the fwd monster 👹
Thanks man, tuning with boost by gear in the first 2 gears is convenient, but not always consistent in varying ambient temperatures. I actually find it to be more fun and engaging without any load limits in the lower gears lol
Nice! Back at it. I hear you about being nervous 😄 scared as heck driving mine. Now I got two cars that's scary. Seems that I like to live on the edge. Popping and torque steering, 🤣
Wanna see it run at the track.
Lol oh yeah, it's addictive for sure
oh yeah we'll definitely have some of that at some point :)
Hey men really love you channel; always tuned up.... if you lower your timing in 1 & 2 wear to take her take of with more ease and raise timing in oder wears .... she’s going to kill road for sure
Sweet MS3!
Thank you!
Missed it!
Holy hell thats loud!
It's actually not too bad in person tbh. The microphone I had plugged in is what you would call a "hot mic" (super sensitive) lol
30psi and lettr eattttt
What oil breather cap/filter is that? And this is the 2nd gen's valve cover correct? Great work, glad to see her back on the road 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
I originally purchased it from Speed Perf6manc3, but I'm not sure if they still carry them. It looks like they can be purchased here: www.c-f-m.com/performanceparts/pc/CFM-Baffled-Billet-Valve-Cover-Breather-Kit-for-2010-13-MazdaSpeed3-p6532.htm
Hell yea she is a ripper
Yeah not too bad eh! I'm excited to get some sticky tires and turn it up a bit
Amazing man! Glad to see shes back, whats the sensor 2 slow response for? Also, where in the hell did you get your corksport manifold polished? I want to do mine like that!
Haha thanks man! The code pops up once and a while because of the aftermarket downpipe that I've got installed on the car. I actually polished the manifold myself by hand. I started with 180 grit sand paper, worked my way up to 2000 grit, then finalized with Mother's Mag Aluminum Polish. For the grits higher than 180, I recommend wet sanding with soapy water in a bowl, because it pretty much eliminates dust in the air and the job can be done indoors :)
@@WannabeTuners hmmm thats odd i have a downpipe tll and ive never seen that code ever. That sounds like a ton of work lol it looks amazing, i may have to pay someone to do it or powdercoat and call it a day
I guess Corksport no longer sells that manifold?
Awesome! In the process of building my Speed6 currently. Mind if I ask roughly what you've spent for the whole build? (Minus the car)
Well the car went through various parts over the years so I definitely could have spent much less, but I'd say close to $25,000 CAD minus the price of the car lol
i recently blew my motor up... but having graveyard performance built my new motor, with cpe exhaust manifold, 44mm ewg bnrs3 , act 6 puck clutch, and dyno tuned 🤘
That'll be fantastic!
Hey @WannabeTuners Are you taking the oil pressure at the oil filter housing or in line with the turbo feed?
I have the pressure transducer (sensor) installed into a sandwich plate between the oil filter and housing
Michel days shift linkage is the best fs
I love your car and I like hanging out with you on the you tupe. I want what you got minus the aux fuel. Sexy beast though. Tried to do the under pipe but I bought a cst4 and it doesn't clock. What did you take think about the jbr over the top lot bc that's what I have coming now. How far do I have to go before the over the top piping becomes the bottleneck?. So horny for zoom zoom but I want to be kind to my engine.
Awesome thanks man. I don't think it will be a bottle neck per say because the piping is 2.5 inches all around if I'm not mistaken. However it is a pretty tight fit in between the rad support and engine from what I remember.
Also, I just blew up my speed3. Waiting for my long block to come in tomorrow and then I'm sending it down to speed performance to get a stage 1 built block, then I'm going fbo, cst4! Should be fun 😬
Awesome man! Speed Perf6manc3 does great work
What fueling system are you going with?
@@greatwhitenorth3717 probably just gonna max out the stock fueling on 93
@@NewDemons666 have you gotten it back and dynod ? I’d be interested in your numbers as I will have the same set up by the end of this month: cst4, Sp63 stg1, fbo, and tune by Nishan.
@@rodrigosuarez586 nah I havent sent the motor to SP63 to be built yet but I'm hoping for around 400whp on 93. And Nishan doesnt tune anymore. I'd suggest Freektune or PurpleDrank
Doing a lot of.. Interesting driving, here. 😂 Amazing way of putting it. I'm still rocking the ko4, but I bought a bnr s4, going to install in the spring.
I am interested in tuning boost by gear, ad well. I'll have to ask Justin if he could do that for me.
It's definitely doable, but one thing with the BNR S3's and S4's is that they tend to boost creep in cold weather, which is why an external wastegate is a good idea. When I had the S4, I limited peak throttle opening and ran 0 WGDC in the higher RPM range to limit boost creep in colder temps. In the summer there was no boost creep at all so I was able to run the throttle fully open and add WGDC.
@@WannabeTuners thanks for that! I love in NY and it's very cold in winter, as well. I run my 93 tune with snow tires, so I have no problem running either A) a different map for winter months, or B) not going into boost. I hardly ever go WOT when the roads are salty and I have snow tires on, anyway.
So, it's possible to tune each gear differently without some form of electronic controller? I don't really know how that works. I know the stock map limits boost in 1st and 2nd, so I'm assuming the Guru, Justin Brasil can manage heh
@@sonofnothing Oh yes I am sure he will know how to help you with that. I've always just limited throttle and load targets for 1st and 2nd gear which has helped a lot with traction.
@@WannabeTuners yep! 93 fuel, ko4, I had traction problems in 3rd with Goodyear eagle f1 summer tires. Re71s helped A LOT. I can hook 2nd now. But the throttle feathering is tough for launching. Like you said, once boost take off, you almost have to back off yo maintain traction. (I love your humbleness in your driving abilities, and how scary your car is, even just 400hp. I agree 100%!!)
Have you thought about replacing the factory pump with a hellcat pump?
I certainly have but the Aeromotive Stealth 325 LPH in tank pump has been working flawlessly with the 6th port aux fuel setup
Have you removed the balance of the crankshaft shafts?
Yes balance shaft assembly is removed, and I'm running the Corksport balance shaft delete kit and baffle :)
Do you notice more vibration with the BALANCE SHAFT delete?
Yes quite a bit more, but nothing unbearable. On top of the engine having less parasitic loss, it just adds more character to the car.
I hear Reys mazda parts makes good shifter cables for our cars
I heard this also..I recently bought the controversial slave cylinder upgrade for the gen1. Some people say it doesn’t work with the act clutch but I don’t use that so hopefully no issues when I decide to install
Thanks man good to know, I'll look into it :)
did you already break in the motor or are you in the process of doing so? also its Noah :)
Hey buddy, the engine is now fully broken in and ready for some more power :)
@@WannabeTuners awesome dude let me know when you're going to the track next, I want to take my car as well
How do you get those smooth cold starts with the vtcs gone? I have a cs manifold also and will does my tuning and he said its normal but mine pops and bangs like crazy...
I'm not sure actually, I've never had an issue running the Corksport intake manifold. That being said, maybe it may also be because I have an upgraded exhaust manifold. Are u running a stock exhaust manifold?
@@WannabeTuners all cs. Built motor. On 33psi e30 blend right now. Its got everything. Some people say hold throttle pedal about 25% when you start it and let off and it bypasses it. I honestly haven't tried yet.
@@gimmethecarkeys Interesting I'm not sure what would cause all the pops and bangs, but if Will says it's normal and you've got no issues on road, maybe it's not a big deal lol
@@WannabeTuners I don't mind it. But this car is all catless cpe turboback. Its ridiculous to say the least... 😆 shakes my house and my building at my work!
@@gimmethecarkeys Haha oh yeah I hear ya! Does your catback have any resonators?
Lol its seems like the battery has been there since day one.
Stock valve springs?
Supertech 55 lbs valve springs, otherwise stock head.
Hey who did you get your base map from?
I tuned it myself based off an OTS map
@@WannabeTuners ah ok sweet
What's your daily driver? Obviously not the speed 😊
A solid reliable completely stock corolla! Lol
@@WannabeTuners noice! I don't know how you guys make it all look so easy, but I just cleaned my valves and had the injectors serviced and it was not fun...haha, broken injector harness (zip-tied), stuck injectors, baked on manifold gasket...sigh
What are your wheels specs
Can u message me on Instagram? I'll find out this weekend
Get a whitezilla water pump pulley
Oh yeah those are pretty sweet
@@WannabeTuners they definitely work, cruising temps for me are normally 183-187 and I live in Southern California. Before I got it cruising temps were 198ish
@@nickgarcia4951 Awesome good to know, I imagine it works by speeding up the rotational speed of the water pump
