I remember when a pickup truck was a practical work vehicle. These newer generation are a full size five seater, with a small load area on the back. I mean they look great, only the original purpose of a pickup has been completely lost.

I enjoyed watching the Video Review. One of the best New Pickup Trucks 😊

Wonder do they have airbags in back row of seats now. That was an issue raised on the Amorak before. No side, curtain airbags fitted for back seat passengers?

I think its more of a Posing Wagon than a Work Wagon very good review though

Hi Nobby, another great review. Unless you really need one of these I can't see the point. They are just a workhorse really. The ford has coil springs in some variants so the VW with its leaf springs will bounce around a fair bit I'd think. I used to have an L200 twin cab used mainly as a car and there are pros and cons to these vehicles. Great view of the road and in snowy weather but vague handling and don't try and stop too quickly. Thirsty on diesel and every year it needed something for the test.

All Ford ranger models and VW amaroks have leaf springs as standard.

@@chandamusonda6883 That's not the case. The Ranger Raptor has coil springs fitted. Like I said some variants have coil springs. Have a look at the car wow test between Ford ,VW and Toyota pickup.

If it can't be commercially taxed, can it be privately insured? I remember trying and failing to privately insure a Fiesta van years ago, I ended up having to sell it.

    Did I hear correctly? Between 5 and 6 l/100km?

3 litre V6 from Land Rover ( Make of that what you will ) not VW's own V6.

Its a 3.0 Ford Powerstroke engine mated with a 10 speed Ford/GM gearbox nothing to do with JLR

Nice looking truck but will it last like a Hilux, I have a new invincible x and would not change it for anything

Mark. Love it! Absolutely! However, as you say now a 'lifestyle' choice', not for the real 'tradies'! Leave that to a 'low spec' Ranger. The Ford DNA is obvious. Will it be enough to convince the Defender 'Commercial' buyers? The VW badge will help. The new Ranger looks a little front heavy to me and a mate. This not so. As you say even in UK will have to be careful how spec'd. Let's face it sell by the bucket load. Re-sale values will be rock solid. More so than the Ranger. Form an orderly queue.
PS. Could fit my VW Up! in the back! Ha ha ha!
