- There are so many Duskmourn cards I didn't get to talk about in the Top 50, and I just had to discuss them somewhere. A lot of these cards were brought up in the comments section of the top 50, and I wanted to address those folks, because I largely agree with them - so many cool cards are in this set, and they all deserve some attention!

I prefer you doing it exactly how you do it already, where most of your focus is on standard. Standard has new decks. Pet decks in more eternal generally don't need CC help/advice because they're looking for very specific cards to be printed(easier to determine the playability of a new card)

Dev I support your opinions on rollercrusher ride, i think it's going to be great.
Even with X = 0, it doubles non combat damage to players too for 3 mana

In my experience at the prerelease, admittedly the slowest format, Rollercrusher Ride was insane.
This is wild, the new set is so OP that we need to list out the top 100+ cards now. Has that ever happened before?

Grievous wound also works good against pain lands. Seen a few games where some one got wrecked 😂

I think Split-Up might work well in a Convoke deck, or something that taps creatures for resources. Honestly it's not even really all that bad as a simple card advantage piece. You kill 2 creatures for 1. Not too bad. It's going to be way too tempting to use it in a way that also affects your creatures too though.
Hmmm, I wonder what the best way to play flash cards is... from your graveyard. Is there another way besides the back-end of Tarrian's Journal?
For Split Up, it could be good against fast decks like mono red on curve. Any aggro deck that's entire strategy is "turn creature sideways" might get fucked by this. Later in the game, it might not be as effective.
Honestly I find M:tG debates to be completely the opposite of productive. Any time you believe literally anything, everybody out there now has a reason to take you personally.
People fail to read the rollercrushers ride delsrium trigger, it doubles ALL your noncombat damage to permanents and players. Lightning bolts for 6.
Dev, not everyone assumes you won't put a card on both the Sleeper and Top 50 Lists
sometimes you are more or less clear about explaining that, and the videos have a long runtime for that to get missed or forgotten in
Sleeper cards should be on a top list again, I think. I would like to see the best cards of a set in a toplist, and not 'the best cards except check out all other lists'. good work anyway

Why would it going into a sleeper list mean it can't be too 50? Just because no one is talking about it doesn't mean it's not one of the best in the set.
Oko and Goyf were certainly sleepers and also the best cards of their set.

I think split up is very good. especially in a deck that can force taps.
Poll players to see what they think will be some of the most played cards. Then check each week to see which cards are.
I wish we had seen more people playing the red leyline. Alot of people bashing on it and I think alot of people are about to hate that card
Modern/standard sounds exhausting when cards are either busted or trash if it doesnt get you the win by turn 1 😅

Rollercrusher ride did work for me in pre release
Unstoppable Slasher doesn't need +1+1 counters. It always wins in combat, technically, and does half their life when it hits them. +1+1 Counters are superflous. Mostly.
I think he meant you might have situations you have to avoid counters. Like the maps a get lost gave you most people will just use them if they have nothing else to do but if he is your only creature you might not do that

I gotta say, I completely disagree with your take on slasher. It’s an important card in a combo deck in standard that wins on turn four. Play slasher, play bloodletter, swing and win. If it gets in (which it will a lot thanks to deathtouch), it can hit for ten, then five. How is a three mana 10/3 deathtouch bad? I don’t even care if the card comes back at all. That’s gravy on the card imo.
So the Slasher and the Bloodletter have to not be removed and your opponent has to have no blockers on turn four?

Naah the coming back is the selling point, forcing 2-for-1s in your favour. The damage potential is the gravy.
I think the big problem with Leyline of Mutation (and this applies to Fist of Suns somewhat, too), is that 5 mana ends up not being *that* much of a discount/is still a relatively high number to reach (ie, you already want to be ramping if you want to consistently hit 5 on turn 5 or earlier). So while it *can* have good lines, the difference in paying 5 vs 7 often isn't worth the inclusion of a card. You have to go even bigger than 7 to make it worthwhile.
Then, on the other side of things, WUBRG isn't trivial to get. Even in standard with triomes, getting full domain was easier than specifically WUBRG. Not an impossible barrier, and older formats make it easier, though 5 mana is also a lot more outside of standard. So it's the intersection of these two factors that make Fist/Mutation a lot more sketchy overall. Typical ramp cards have the upside of being interchangable. You can play your 2 cost ramp when you have 5 mana and still be at 7 (with and land drop) the next turn. Leyline only goes from 5->bigger, and doesn't also help you get to that initial 5.
I'm not saying it's unplayable. Especially in Nykthos formats, its potentially 2 free green pips and can let you use conversion lands to cast things for 5 nykthos mana. Open leyline, t1 elf, t2 something with 2 pips and a conversion land, t3 play nykthos, add GGGGG, convert to WUBRG, play anything. This sort of line will be possible in pioneer/explorer, and its possible it'll slot mono G back into a position like it was with Leyline of Abundance (though obviously the deck will be different). But I would be really surprised if we see it over the stellar ramp options for standard, especially since its in a set with hauntwoods. So its not like it'll exist in a standard without good ramp.
Broodspinner seems like a very good roleplayer, that has a lot of avenues. That's a good card.

The best argument in favor of roller crusher ride is that any of the blood artisty types who deal damage turn from 1 damage procs to 2 damage procs and can easily turn on delirium.
Mayhem devil pinging for 2 with a treasure pop is very strong for pioneer/explorer. That would mean playing more 3s in a deck that doesn't always want them, but even if it doesn't make the cut there, the same principle could apply to a standard sac deck if enough of the cards are dealing damage instead of life loss.
2 vs 3 for the initial permanent *is* a big comparative downside compared to meathook, which I think is the biggest knock against it. That and the difficulty of hitting/maintaining delirium in standard are going to be the big questions (ie, we have a lot of incidental gy hate floating around, which might make it extra hard to hit delirium, but we'll see).
