This was officially the definitive final episode - Thieves Like Us was to be have been shown during the run but ITV only scheduled 13 episodes. Michael Elphick (RIP) wanted to finish the series whilst it was still doing well in the ratings (12million at the time) & the retrospective opening titles reflect this as well as the full intro theme playing at the end. Some argue about the series not having a proper send off - but I genuinely think that the final scene is a natural conclusion (for what it's worth, I think Harry tells Ken that he's getting married & asks him to be best man).
Michael bit of all sorts channel 1 Dave Daker was fine actor who knew how to act fine hunk of man loved him in coronation street in 1981/1984 as guest role landlord as Gordon Lewis.
Does anyone know the definitive reason why Thieves Like Us (which has a Series 7 title sequence) was shown in 1995 and not in 1992 like the rest of the series. I've read one theory that it was the first episode of an aborted Series 8, but if that is the case, why are the two big events at the end of Shot in the Dark (Harry's engagement and Ken and Alex's interrupted kiss) not referred to? The fact that they aren't suggests that Thieves Like Us is part of Series 7, set before Shot in the Dark, but was withheld from the 1992 transmission run for some reason. If Ken and Alex *did* get together, I'm trying to imagine their children: blonde with craggy faces, and with cultured but gruff voices ;-)
Is that the episode that many believed would have been the first episode of an eighth season had Michael Elphick not left for the BBC series Harry, resulting in the show being cancelled?
I believe it was recorded as the final episode of Series 7 around the same time as all the other episodes from series 7 but was shown for over 12 months
@@robjameson3159 I'd say that Thieves Like Us was set *before* Shot in the Dark because it doesn't contain any reference to the two big events at the end of Shot in the Dark: Harry's engagement, and Ken and Alex's interrupted snog with the implication that they might become a couple. I wonder why transmission was delayed from 1992 to 1995. Was Michael Elphick right to leave Boon and move to Harry? I'm probably biased in saying that I'd have preferred another series of Boon, maybe developing Rocky's character a bit more so he became less of a figure of fun.
A pleasure to see Mr. Kitchen.
i loved this show, great memories, great tv back in the day....but i hate that they did not give this great show a proper send off

The ending was like the ending for casablanca I thought that was what they wanted it to be like
Can you please upload other episodes of this season 7

2 videos - calls it "The Boon Channel". Where's the rest?
Thanks for sharing 👍
Was this episode filmed in 1992 and then held back until 1995? Seems odd to broadcast one episode on its own nearly three years later.
