@@danilojanicijevic1658 I went to my ISSA training to become a certified trainer. Part of the reason I selected them was the involvement of Dr Fred Hadfield and Tom Platz. I had no idea that Tom was actually helping train the trainers for the ISSA. To my surprise when I showed up Tom Platz was there!!!! He treated me and everyone with respect, kindness, professionalism. I couldn’t have been more impressed. Every interaction with him or question I asked was met with a gentleman’s care. Not once did he brag about himself or share his prowess, accolades, or how great he is. He wore a shirt and tie. Never a show off even at the gym as he instructed us. Best of all he left me with a feeling that I was important.
Back in the 90's I had a bit of a squatting competition of workouts with a fellow gym mate. I had my training partners and he had his. While we never worked out together that I ever remember, we had a good friendship and inspiring rivalry. It spanned over about 4 months during the most intense part of it. Over that period of time we kept an eye on each other watching the others' progress. The goal was to squat 500 pounds comfortably for reps, naturally. At the end of that time, I managed to pyramid up to 515 for a final set sets of 6 reps to parallel. (Warmup with 135, 225, 315, 405, then the 3 sets of 515). I believe he got close to a one rep max of 500. He might have broken 500. But more impressive to me was the fact that he routinely did 10 sets of 10 with 315, and if memory served he bested his own record and di 10 sets of 15 with 315. Oddly enough, appearance-wise, he looked more like he would have been the 515 record and me with the reps of 315. That rivalry was a highlight of and essential to me getting my record. Hardcore gyms are still my favorite places to be.
yeah 20 rep sets do blow your legs up big time. I didnt post huge numbers like you but I started at 225 for sets of 15, and then kept trying to push more and more reps. Eventually I was at 20+ reps per set and my legs were useless between sets. I was begging god for mercy at the end of each set.
