Great video thank you. Have been looking for a solution and this looks like it will provide better speeds than MESH. Could I connect the 2 routers via home plugs to achieve the same result?

Hi and thanks, one question though, instead of using a long cable to attach the second router, can I use powerline adapters that I already have? Thanks again.
Powerline adapters don't typically work well enough for this to be effective. I would use a MoCA 2.5 setup to use existing coaxial cables as ethernet alternative. Can get basically the same speed as ethernet, anywhere in your house. Other videos show how to set this up. I'm about to do it myself.
Do we need to make a reserved DHCP pool for primary router and assign an IP address from that pool to the secondary router so the primary router will not assign the same IP address to a different client that may cause IP conflict?
this worked for me. Thank you so much.... earlier i was just connecting 2 routers with lan cable. internet was working but i think they were conflicting too much.... internet was fluctuating...i was not able to watch a full video with out loading... i was so frustrated this helped a lot. thank you.

Missing info about using different channels so that they don't interfere and, separately, I wonder if channel width should be the same similarly to how security settings should match
My wireless doesn't auto switch to the stronger signal, I am wondering if it has something to do with wifi channel and Width. Should wifi channel in Both routers remain the same or different and what about the channel Width?
So is there no way to do this without running an ethernet cable? Is there a way to do this with the secondary router totally wireless other than its power supply?
ok, did i miss something or did you skip a step at about 4:15 ???? At this point I have the secondary router plugged in (power) and attached to pc/laptop. But it's not connected to the internet since you said to only attach it to the "secondary" router, which is not connected to the internet yet. So, how can the laptop be connected to the internet if you just switched off your WiFi on it??? i'm so confused
Last time I only get 10Mbps using other tutorials, now I'm getting full 100Mbps. I missed the manual IP assignment on the second router, got it from this tutorial.
The old router I'm using temporarily for this set up has no NAT settings at all. Just UPnP can be found. I wonder if I should disable that? Or will it even make a difference?
I have two routers from different manufacturers. One assigned as main and the second as access points with DHCP disable, but still not work properly although I changed the IP to static. I setup the SSID and others settings same as the main one
You dont need internet to connect to a wifi router. Key in the IP address of your old router, and you will get to the login page - Login credentials and even the router IP can be found in the back of your router.
Can you connect you PC directly the second router for an ethernet connection? I currently have my PC upstairs hardwired to my downstairs router but might add a second access point in between
@@normalboi1997 to you and anyone else wondering this, the answer is yes. I set my second wireless access point up which I can also directly plug my computer in. Works great

Doesn't that defeat the purpose? The access point is put in the area with weak signal to improve it... so it would only get the weak signal to send....probably making it even weaker? Just my speculation.
It defies the purpose to use a long ethernet cable, most people trying to extend their internet do not have the option to run a long cable hence the reason why they are looking for a this solution. If you can run a long cable between two floors might as well use a switch and hard wire everything.
I was thinking this vs buying a mesh router, but you need a long ethernet cable, sometimes that's not always practical sadly. Especially over walk/doorways.
Ok so iam using a wifi-extender which allows me to boost a Wifi network to the rest of my house. By turning a router into an AP, i will always have to use a network cable? I think in my case i should better use 2 wifi-extender's don't you think?
