I recently converted my old NETGEAR Wireless Router model WGR614 v6 to an Access Point. It took me sometime, but this video certainly was a great help. Thanks. The three main points that came out of the Video were configuring your old Wireless Router with a Static IP address and a Domain Name Server Address, along with disabling the DNS (Dynamic Name Service) and configuring the Wireless Network. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for this video. I had trouble extending my Internet service. So I bought a new router TP link with Telephony to replace my 1-year old TP link MR500 which couldn't work with my landline. I followed the instructions in your video, including TP link AV1000 extender. Perfect! Absolutely fantastic! I'm more than happy. I'll recommend your video for anyone who needs. And I'll like your video over and over.
You guys knew that he was being sarcastic when he used that "advance" tool, right? Well, he got me too. I mean when he pushed that "gadget" up, I thought it was a new device that literally identifies which router to reset. But look who's laughing now. Hats off for his humour. He'd make a great teacher/professor. I'm sure his lectures won't be dry and boring.
Greetings from Sri Lanka.!!!. I followed your instructions to extend my home internet using a D-Link router, and it worked successfully. My internet had been weakened due to a broken antenna. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and providing clear instructions. I greatly appreciate it.
You're the best! Should've checked your videos first before anywhere else. Watched this and was finally able to set up my old DLink 880L as an AP, with an Asus AX88U Pro as the main router. Very clear instructions as always! Thank you again! 👊🏻
Very helpful video. I'm extending between 2 buildings using a TP-LInk CPE605 and this has enabled me to create the extended router in the other building. Thank you 👍
Thank you for this video, I was using router than you but everything still worked. I had a little trouble with the ethernet adapter but got it working after a few tries.
I haven't had great luck with powerline Ethernet, but if it's your only option it's okay. If your home has coaxial cables run to convenient locations MOCA adapters are much faster and much more reliable and consistent and not affected by things like vacuums and microwaves. I've got that same Asus RT-AX58U. It's a great router for the money. I was using one, then got a great deal on an RT-AX82U, so now I'm running them in an Aimesh configuration as access points using MOCA Ethernet as the backhaul and it's pretty awesome, I must say. You also get the benefit of better latency if you want to plug a computer or console into the Ethernet ports on the remote access point. I can't say I'm a fan of D-Link. My previous setup was by them. The hardware was very good, but they basically abandoned it completely after less than two years and they brought out very few updates in that time. Asus seems to get security patches out within a few months of disclosure. For me, a commitment to regular security updates for many years has become a major factor in purchasing any tech. At this point, I'll only buy a Samsung, Google, or Apple phone because nobody else will commit to multiple years of security updates.
This is hands down the best way to extend your wifi in your home, forget about mesh, been there done that, a cabled AP will always be better, and you get solid speeds too.
Clearly explained and by using a powerline adapter it was just what I was looking for, many thanks for the great video and for the explanation of high tech reset tool that was used LOL.

Usually, these smart devices use the 2.4GHz band, if you didn't enable it on the Access Point, then they cannot connect to it. Another issue might be the WPA3 security. If enabled on the Access Point, some older devices are not compatible with it
It's not the toothpick that made me laugh, but the naughty smile after you made the joke. ;) Oh and I never realized that powerline ethernet adapters existed. I assumed they worked with a wireless signal!

THAT is what I was wondering as well! Why can't you use the same wifi network name that you have on your main router? I think this is my issue in setting mine up. Both similar model routers, too.
@@robinvanasten3840 So, I changed the SSIDs on the AP router to differ from the main one and everything just worked. I verified that I am joining the SSID on the AP but I am still getting my DHCP from the main router. Works good so far!
