I'll say it again...Minnie Caldwell is adorable! Elsie is the kind of mate you need. She'll have your back but will tell you the truth.
This episode was shown a month before man landed on the moon. Thats one small sip for a Minnie, one giant gulp for Ena's kind.
Jack Walker was the patriarch of the street who could put Len Fairclough in his place.
8:21 And the Rovers' legend that was Betty Turpin enters behind the bar.
What a legend Jack was. 👍🏻
I actually googled kidney soup. Heinz stopped making it in 1982. I've never heard of it.
I love these black and white episodes. Very atmospheric.
Brilliant acting in the Jack Walker and Len Fairclough scene, brilliant.
I was 6 when this was shown ! Ogdons were my favourites
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz 💓
Now why aren’t there anymore Jack walkers left, his age just evaporates bless him he’s gorgeous the perfect man and best grandfather figure love him
The Classic Soap.
The best soap and still is. This coming from a 20 year old who has watched it for 14 years
Auntie Corrie. You were so badly missed...the fact your uploading again is fantastic!...I look forward to even more episodes.
23:55 Off to Sheffield in style. Love Elsie. A legend. 🤘❤
Where is mr. Walker’s wife at?
@@danrobinson572 Somewhere in Spain by the sound of it. Probably doing a grand tour like Eva Person did.
@@gilgameshofuruk4060 👍
Bloke who challenged Betty must have lunch early! “I’ll be in the Rovers at 1. I’ll have had a light lunch and forty winks first.”
Love the prices in the shop
6:31 Vapours!!!!!! 😕
Jack walker was the best actor on the street old school and he was so very well spoken and was a treasure of coronation street.👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the class Corrie
Was 3 months old when this was shown
I was literally just reading The Times newspaper from the day this aired.
The headline of the day revolved around Harold Wilson and Barbara Castle fighting with the TUC.
Blimey, your paper lad takes his time delivering, doesn't he?
@@gilgameshofuruk4060 Apologies for all the people who haven't commented on this !
@PIPEHEAD It's ok, the comments are being delivered by the OP's paper lad.
@@gilgameshofuruk4060 Nice one!
Arthur Leslie/Jack Walker: the voice of reason, morality, and a lot of other good things. His scene with Len is pitch perfect.
Shocking the violence from Len towards Elsie
He's done that a few times to Elsie..manhandling her, gripping her by the hair, slapping her. Outrageous. But he hit Rita too when she left him.
He did say 'he isn't past thumping her'
@@londonlady227I've still got an image from a later colour episode of a distraught Elsie sitting in front of a mirror and Len shaking her telling her she was "nothing". I probably shouldn't have been watching it but it frightened me as a small kid.
@@martinistakis1825 It was a barometer of the times though.
Ernest Bishop this week!
How many times did Elsie leave Coranation Street?
Was this the first time she left to return the again?
No, I think the first time is when she married Steve Tanner in 1967, she left to go to the US with him.
Ah the famous Cyril
Nice to see him as Betty mentioned him so much.
What did Rita and Elsie ever see in Len?
I have a theory that Elsie and Rita were both very vulnerable people hence their mouthy ways, covering a very insecure persona.
Those types usually are attracted to bastards who give them attention. Narcissist is the term for these blokes.
Len was the Kingpin. Everybody else male/female is attracted to him. Thats what they saw in Len
He was probably considered as a good provider. Garage, Kabin, plus involvement with the Council. That would attract the Rita's, Elsies and Janet's of this world. And women like this tend to like a bad boy. Plus domestic violence was somewhat accepted in the 60s and 70s.
Jack is my hero ❤❤❤
Some of the episodes are blocked can they still be watched
Not if there blockedvin uour country
Thanks for the uploads though I would like to see the ones which are blocked
Esp the 6 April 18 May 1970 episode
Paul Major ..same here!.. It's so disappointing not to be able to see consecutive episodes. Having said that auntie....I'm in no way ungrateful!...everything you load is wonderful! 🙏🏻🙋🏻
10/10
Didn’t know Betty had a sister?,
@ TheBeverlyHillsHaveEyes: Maggie Clegg from the shop was Betty's sister. Maggie's son Gordon was actually Betty's son whom Maggie raised as her own since Betty was unmarried at the time and could not look after him.
@@Agnethatheredhairkid until heckl
It was certainly a different time, showing men hitting women on a soap
Jack died a year later
He aged a lot from previous episodes.
Great actor should have gone on to act for years more behind the Rover's bar.
I'd like to come from behind. 🎯 Can't beat a bit of bully. 😄
doggy :)
You're marked. He's knocked you about hasht he?
