Chevy gets STUCK under a trailer - up close rotator recovery

- Car wedged under trailer - up close rotator recovery - This one looks like an outtake from the Fast and the Furious movies! I used my 50ton rotator, Hulk, operated by Dom to get the trailer off of the car. Originally, a local company tried to winch out the car and was unable to due to how stuck it was under the trailer frame. That is why I was called for a lift and swing.
Once fully airborne, the trailer was "pulled" back towards my truck to get it fully away from the car so the flatbed can complete its job and take the car. Luckily, the driver of the car sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Great work Dom. And Josh, great guidance as well. another phenomenal job by Pepe's.
Looks like Dom is going to be a good operator. He's got a good teacher so things will work out great. Good job you two.
That car hit the truck at a pretty high speed to go under as far as it did. The A pillar on the drivers side hit with pretty good force. The driver of the car must have had quick reflexes & laid onto the passenger side.
Good job guys, looks like you will have another rotator operator eventually.
Quick reflexes? Lol. That semi didn't just jump in front of him.
@@skliros9235 I'm very well aware of that. I've been driving a truck myself for over 30 years, i think i know a little about how they move.
In case you can't figure it out, the car is traveling at a fairly high speed, just like i said in my original comment! They would have to have quick reflexes to move into a position, so the only injury was their nose!
It is astonishing how , upon arrival at the crash scene, it takes you literally a split second to elaborate a plan of attack and to start implement that plan straight away. The orientation of Hulk, the distance from Hulk to the trailer, how to lift the trailer, everything is taken into account! Great!
Josh, really impressed that you mentored Dom on the lift. You did a great job guiding him and Dom seemed really at ease. Very cool to see people advancing in a company with the help of the senior guys. Well done!
Thats quite alot of damage on that trailer- Wouldn't have expected that- I think Dom did a fine job, & think your guidance was spot-on- Can't wait for the next one Mr Josh- ALL OF YOU GUYS PLEASE BE SAFE!!!
Perfect training scenario for you to give Dom the controls and teach him how the rotator works. VERY cool short video!!
You guys did a great job . Dom needs a nickname now. Dominator !
LOL that's a good one
"Crackhead fast", damn I'm lucky I wasn't drinking anything when you said that...I gotta remember that one...
Dang that driver had a guardian angel watching over him/her! I know just how hard that part of the trailer is to do that kind of damage. It's a structural part of the trailer.
Saw an accident like that one time. Truck made an illegal left turn across lanes of traffic going 50 mph. Fortunately, the driver sustained no injuries. Had he had a passenger… You did a good job disentangling this wreck!
Dom you did a great job. Josh you are a great teacher and did quite well!!
Kudos Dom, great work. Josh you are a thoughtful teacher. So glad no one was hurt, well the car didn't look too good tho.
Cars can be replaced, lives can't.
@@gorillaau Are you actually getting my remark?
10/10 for Dom! And first class tuition from Josh! 🤩
Hulk said lightweight with the first lift-off 😤. Good job Dom. Filming and guidance was on point!
Hulk wanted a challenge lol
Unbelievable that there were no serious injuries. Your coaching was calm and cool.... video informative..good job Dom
You are a very good teacher. You know your subject, and give clear instructions with reasons why.
Man... that sure was messed up... and that person is one lucky dude... Nice work guys...!
Your very respectful to your workers and customers. I am your fan. Awesome job.
Very good precise direction without the need for please and thank you all the time.......well done man.
Thanks Vince!
Dom did a Outstanding job y'all did a Outstanding job visiting & training Outstanding job gentlemen
Great idea to train by doing. Explain each step and then hands on. Good quick job.
I like how you train your people, much better than others I have seen.
You both did good Josh...ya cant beat OJT:-) its amazing the driver of the car was only slightly injured...good reflexes to duck it appears. Good job by all.
Superb teamwork guys. Many, many thanks Pepe's!
WOWZERS! That driver was LUCKY 2 walk away from this one. A few more MPH faster & this could have ended very badly!
Dom you did great on your rotator rigging and operation. Josh was smooth and clear on his instructions to the rookie op. At the end of the day it was another win for Pepe’s
He did a good job!
Hi Josh watched the video of the chevy stuck under the trailer nice easy job buddy and been a good teacher on this
good coordinating tutorial = capable instructor + cooperative trainee
Trailer is just aluminum, it's really SOFT! But Pepe, you make everything look so easy Homes! Cause you have ALL the tools!
That 4 wheeler was hauling butt...!!!!
Great work guys
Don did a great job and you are a good trainer.
For the first time operating Hulk the instructions were adequate. What you need to start including is the why of doing something. Bring light tension onto the cables one at a time so that when you go for the lift you are starting with even tension. Continue to lift the trailer so the car is visibly free from it. Move the trailer away from the car to provide additional clearance between it and the trailer. I'm setting up here because I'm providing a place for the flatbed to winch the car. Explain your thought process of each step you take. You make multiple decisions based on your experience and now in training a new person you need to impart the knowledge that is the basis of your decision making so they can make the same good decisions. Once they have started to absorb the knowledge, then you move on to asking open ended questions. "So we have a car stuck under the trailer, where do we set up and why there?" Then wait until they answer and always make sure that they know "I don't know" is an acceptable response. Also in training, patience is a virtue.
Hi from Australia good job by both of you
👍👍👍👍 all around performance!
EZPZ ! Dom did a great job. Very professional.
Good thing they don't build cars like they used to. Great video guys, entertaining and insightful. All the best from Holland!
Thank you for letting me see this video.
Wow lucky they survived Dom get a great job 👍👍👍
Thought Dom did well. Very much enjoyed your narrative always enjoy the why.
Always Josh you have good video with Hulk always the job done all the time
be safe,God bless, from nova scotia ,canada
Good job Dom on your first-time operating remote and other things!
You both done great
Precise instruction, Josh. 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
He did a good job doing the job done
I just watched you recovering the Mclaren. In LA it cost $ 25,00.00 per shot of antivenom. Snake boots, long pants and shirt maybe $400.00 max. Bro buy some and keep them on Hulk.
Just subed from lreland great skills and videos 👍👍👍respect making dangerous jobs look easy, twisting the chemical trailer in mid air was amazing video from last year
Good job Ron
Great job guy's !
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
The driver has an angel watching over them! That’s scary. Y’all do amazing!
Thank you for the video I thought you did an OK job instructing Dom I thought it would have been a fatal accident but thankfully it wasn't y'all be safe
Great job Happy Valentines
How? What? Did they think it would fit under the trailer? Great job!!
You both did pretty good, good communication.
Thanks!
Love those shackles easy to do hulk u beast
In europe we've had side rails on trailers to stop this kind of accident happening for something like 30 years, perhaps time the USA got with the safety programme.
Hi from uk guys👋 bit different of a recovery but hope everyone was ok just wonder how this happened? Looks like good vision all round so either truck was not looking or car was driving fast 🤔 pleased all was well tho and great job on with your training as your very detailed guy and dom goin to learn from the best pretty smooth operating and seems keen to learn 👍 just be safe guys and see you soon 👍
A similar type crash killed actress Jane Mansfield in 1967. An insect fog machine obscured the view of a tractor trailer. They plowed into it. All 3 adults in the front seat were killed. Her 3 sleeping kids in the backseat survived. One of them is Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson on Law and Order.
Awesome awesome job u did training him and he is going to be a good one to keep and let him have his on truck to run cause u can tell he is going to be a good one cause he was listening to u and paying attention what u was telling him what to do and was running Hulk smooth from all of them I was saying he was doing that shows he is going to be a good at running his on truck nice nice job
Yeah, Chevy forgot to put *that* warning on the sun visor.
Good job Dom
This was amazing. Thanks for the wisdom and insight
i was so surprised that there was no deaths
I am so happy that we have protection in the Netherlands (EU?) that prevents accidents like this. I'm kind off amazed things like that aren't required in the US. It's forced by law since 1998 here. This accident looks pretty gnarly.
Computers that slam on the brakes don't always work. There are cars in the US market with such collision avoidance systems, but they aren't required by any laws. (It's not like that truck appeared out of thin air. The driver of the car was _not_ paying attention. Their guardian angel thankfully was.)
I cannot believe the driver of that car lived! 😳
great job...how much weight was lifted? what is wll of the straps? just curious
Did the sling do damage to the trailer lights on the right side? Left grabbed the Dot bar, but the right looks like it slid up and bent the light bracket
U guys have diecast? Id love to grab some....im a collector...saw a Pepes Peter on the 5 in Central Cal the other day, felt star struck
Did a good job 👍
Josh good informatiom dom did good. Also josh you are a good teacher
Dom did very good and you josh did amazing like always say hi to papi JOE💜🌹💙🌹💚🌹❤🌹happy Valentine's day to you guy's
As nasty as this collision looked..just glad the driver of the Chevy is alright for the most part...that's the biggest and most important thing here.
Very good 👍
Everyone has to start somewhere. Thought Dom did pretty good with your guidance.
Cars are crap these days but they are made to be crap for a reason so they collape in a crash absorbing the energy of the collision, instead of being rigid and transferign all the energy to the fleshbags inside the car. Survivabilty in a crash being the design criteria. destroy the car but save the people. A driver in a car from the 60/70s likely would have had severe injuries at the very least from this crash. He might even have been killed.
Awesome Job Dom. You Needed Someone Like Josh To Look Up To On This One.
Judging by its rear end that trailer's led a hard life. And its license plate is almost comically decrepit!
He did good 🇨🇦🇺🇸
My vote is that Dom did well for not having a lot of operational experience. Seemed to figure out getting things to work evenly.
Hope the trucker thanked you for removing that parisite from his trailer.
Car driver must have been chimping on the phone, not to notice the truck and trailer turning.
where are you going on vacation or are you thinking to ecspand with a new rotator?
How badass would a old ladder fire truck being converted to a Heavy duty rotator
It would have been cool to see you pick up that wreck & fling it over the fence at the wrecking yard.
Nice job Josh. I hope Dom knows how lucky he is having you teach him the tow business. And learning using Hulk. Wow he is really roughing it. LOL 😳 I know there's alot of people that would love to be in his spot. He's a lucky guy. You always make it look easy Josh. Stay safe. Love ya, Debra your #1 Fan in Wilmington.🙋🇺🇲🇺🇲💪💥
Thank you!!!
Your choice to use "please" and "thank you" is appreciated by the people you are talking to.
Any injuries?
The problem with some camera's, is that they only record in 24-FPS to 30-FPS, and when you pan too quickly, the video gets choppy, as can be seen here. This is the reason why GoPro action camera's became huge, the 60-FPS really makes a difference to smooth video, while panning. I think that Dom did an excellent job for his first time operating a rotator, he listened to instructions, and did it. I did notice however, you weren't explaining to him, why you told him to do certain things. He will need to understand the physics and everything. You did a good job filming, its just that the camera's FPS didn't help matters. Image clarity is good though in 4K.
Good eye! I dropped the ball on recording on this a few ways. First, the camera I'm using is a Sony FX3, from their cinema line. It's an amazing, incredible camera. The problem is the internal stabilization (active steady shot) sucks lol, I was too fidgety with my hands and told myself I'll just use Warp Stabilizer in post, but was in a hurry and did it sloppy. That's the problem with pumping these out so quick to have a video ready for each Monday. That's why you can see certain scenes where the exposure and white balance is all over the place too, I wasn't on my A-game. I will never go back to a GoPro, shooting in 10 bit 4:2:2 is amazing, the things you can do with the footage is Hollywood level compared to a GoPro. I can shoot 60fps, all the way up to 240fps in full HD. But you loose that "motion blur" and 60fps looks too unnatural. I've since bought the DJI RS 2 gimbal which is a game changer and I feel will take my videos to the next level. You have a good eye for video, are you in the industry?
@@PepesTowingService I am an amateur photographer and film maker. I've used both Canon dedicated camera's, as well as GoPro action camera's, each have their benefits. And while phone camera's are getting better, most don't have optical zoom or stabilization, except for flagship models. I used to make video's for UA-cam, but after their last policy changes, I lost interest in the platform, especially since I couldn't get a leg up on the platform to begin with. You and I seem to share the same passions regarding filming, happy to speak with you on photography and film making. Part of the reason why the clarity of your Sony camera is superb, is not just because its in 4K resolution, it is also because that Sony is using a next generation sensor, with a combination of its size letting in more light and visual detail, but the improved camera's AI, to adjust the scene for best picture. Excellent!
Agree on that, up until this year all my videos were shot on a Gopro. They're great, but can't compare to a professional setup. The more I learn how to use this Sony and perfect it, the better my videos will be. The biggest difference is at night, this full frame sensor with an f1.8 lens is practically magic lol. Hopefully by summer I'll have this camera mastered down to a science and my videos will be even better
In cases like this, who pays you? The Semi, the car, or the City?
Good show Josh
Thank you :)
Awesome job scale from 1 to 10 I give him a 10 . Two thumbs up 👍 Josh how can I get one of those caps man Awesome design. I collect hat's so far I have 23
Thank you! I'm not sure if we have any left for sale, but if we do, they'll be on the website at www.pepestowLA.com/shop
@@PepesTowingService ok thank you
I wouldn’t let that trailer get too far down the road without loading it onto the back of a lowboy trailer. With the damage to that trailer, all it would take is just the right bump in the road and the trailer folds up in the middle.
so did you guys end up putting the trailer on a another trailer? seems like enough damage DOT would shut down that trailer
I was finished at the end, nothing further done.
Did you slide the tandems back or did the truck not set before they pulled out on to the road?
I didn't touch anything on the trailer, it was the way it was as I pulled up. All I did was lift and swing
@@PepesTowingService Not a smart move by the truck driver.
Good job. Josh just be patient. You didn't learn everything the first time.
If you stay in your teaching as cool as you were now, Dorn will turn out good!
you would thought that the trailer had a side fence to stop cars from going under the side of said trailer
