I think maybe there are some Japanese staying in Taman Desa ... mostly due to there are Japanese language learning institutions nearby in Seputeh (Institut Teikyo and Japan Club KL) and also a bit further at UM (AAJ) since decades ago. And also nowadays, maybe there are some BPO offices in The Gardens that serve Japan market.
Long before that, the Japanese School was situated in Seputeh before it was moved to the Saujana area. The OBD condo in Taman Desa was even developed by a Japanese developer. It was only later the Japanese community in KL moved to Mont Kiara area and later to KLCC, Bangsar South and etc. Just shows you are very youthful or you are not from the area. 😁😁😁

On the flipside, it could be argued that this area have been an outer heaven for automotive enthusiast. Located in the center of Klang Valley, with access to the best driving roads KL could offer at your fingertips, not to mention the decommissioned airfield KL BASE right behind Desa Green's backwater vicinity. Might be my own head-canon but I've always pictured this neighbourhood as the San Fernando Valley of KL. That is if private equity developers and Real Estate Grifters stop hustling in to this area, exacerbating the already congested traffic volume this residents here are currently experiencing......
Dylan, you have only walked, at most, half of Taman Desa. You didn't cover the bomba and hospital side as well as the koi fish shop. There are Rumah WIP at the other end of the lake as well as an upcoming project for DBKL personnel
