The NY police were IGNORING Constitutional and state LAWS (to record in public areas of police stations) in place of their own nonsense policy (clearly NOT above the Constitution and state law). You cannot FIRE the County Clerk. He is an elected official. His only boss(es) are the people. He is not responsible to any other other county official (except maybe the judge, who also can't fire him) and he does not report to the County Manager, either. He has certainly proven that doesn't belong in that office, but only the PEOPLE can force him out on election day. If they want him out sooner, there are legal ways of doing it. But nobody can just fire him.

Citizens of Franklin County, do your duty and check your government daily. It is embarrassing that it takes citizens from other counties to check for you! But it does explain how it was so easy for these unprofessional lawbreakers to leach off of your tax money.

And that is precisely why I think LIA is still incredibly naive, thinking you can work with, educate and train cops better. If the system wanted good cops, who's purpose was to uphold their oaths and the law, we'd already have them. It's not a hard concept or an unattainable goal constantly spoiled by "bad apples" like they try to make it out to be.
They want it this way, from the politicians on down to the police unions, the superior "officers" in charge, to the beat cop on the street. They all benefit in way, shape or form from the corruption and would be at a distinct disadvantage in accordance with their current policies and policing models to give up that advantage of arbitrary force they have against the public at large. The options and solutions are not easy, and it is not a level playing field. So more exposure is always needed to reach a critical mass that results in capitulation of the so-called "authorities". It doesn't matter if that is through peaceable means or otherwise. Until that watershed is reached, you just have to keep pushing ahead, exposing them and their misconduct.
After arguing about brittle pages and no staff to watch people as lame excuses for the signs he finally said "If it makes you feel better. I'll take them down" Sarcastic county clerk didn't learn his lesson.
