Been a mechanic for years, but unfortunately lately every repair is difficult no matter how simple. Seeing the alternative way to get the alternator from the wheel well saved me a lot of time and a lot less stress. Thanks for posting it. Seems like all the Xteras in this age group are in need of a alternator. Mine is a 03 Supercharged version with 127k miles. The original alt just burned up the other day. Thanks again!
@@HangryAngler wow that's a lot of miles. I been lucky and had a second vehicle over the years to take the brunt of the milage. Bought it brand new in 03 and kept it all these years because it was the super charged version. Did a few upgrades, headers, dual exhaust, cat removal. It's a beautiful engine when it's cold. But once it heats up its a dog. Body is still good but more rust underneath being in the north east.
I came by your channel haphazardly and I'm glad I did I found the wire that was off my alternator but I couldn't figure out what it was so I started looking up UA-cam videos as soon as I found yours and I saw what was on the back of yours and what you called it I relooked at mine and it's the same wire thank you so much thank you thank you thank you so much peace
I did mine on my 2003 3.3 Nissan Frontier all from underneath. Disconnect the battery, the 12's for the lower bolt, and the tensioner bolt. Mine actually didn't have a top bolt, so it almost fell on my face. I had a weird 8mm/10mm nut on my ground and a 12mm on my hot wire, I believe. Then, the push pin connector. I had to loosen the bracket by the crank (12mm) to get it to move, and then I wiggled it out. Maybe all in all took me 30 mins to do, I imagine if I had the top bolt, it may have added another 5 mins or so. I wish I had a lift it would've been so much easier! Thanks for your video. I skimmed through it, so see what I was getting myself into!
Didnt show the most important part. How the hell you put bolts back on. You used magic and just said ...so ive got the new one back on. Wow, was i disappointed.

Dang that is good mileage on that. Mine is pushing 325k miles. I think on the way out but hope to get to 400k!

Yeah a lift would make it so easy. That is going to be in my dream garage for sure one day.
Glad the video helped out.
Just changed my alternator on my 04 Xterra the same way pretty much didn't take off the tire though
Awesome

Noted, I will show the install in the future. I try to keep them short and not show the re-install since I show the disassembly.
