- Pampas Grass needs to be trimmed back at the end of every winter to keep it looking nice. In past years we used to burn it down but since Colwood passed the no outdoor burning law we now have to be content to just cutting it back every winter.
This video shows how we go about doing that.
We hope you find some useful ideas for dealing with your own Pampas Grass.
That was one plant that we put in about 20 years ago. We have actually taken chunks out around the edges to keep it contained.
What made I opening in the middle of it.
@@melindamallett2620 The middle has always been like that. Possibly, when we originally moved it to the front yard about 30 years ago, we did it in chunks and made a circle?
Was that only 1 plant? Or did you planted multiple plants?
Wrap duck tape around it then cut it off like a pony tail.wont need a tarp or rake.
That is an interesting 🤔 idea. It could work. It would have to be removed after because our city brush drop off wouldn’t be pleased when trying to shred and compost it.
When is the best time to trim these grass?
When the plant is dormant in winter. Otherwise you will be cutting off the new growth.
When to cut ??? In Autumn??
The plumes look the best in Autumn so don't cut it down then. Depending where you live. Now is a good time for the west coast of British Columbia where I live. I plan to trim ours down in the next week or so before the weather warms up and new grasses start to grow.
I am having trouble finding this plant!!!
What do the garden centres in your area say? Have you tried going online and ordering it from a mail order supplier?
