I like to leave mine up until March. I love the movement they create in the winter garden. I’m currently trying to figure out a way to mulch them. However, I don’t think a wood chipper or leaf mulcher would be right for the job.

I’m cut it down before because the grass and seeds smooshed into my lawn is not fun at all to clean up.

There’s Two kinds of people fall or spring choppers. My wife is a fall chopper and I’m a spring. I bundle them up against winter winds and snow so they look nice but she’s not having it. Best solution is to alternate each year

Fair enough. I chop in the fall so the seeds do not get blown all round my out door patio.

My backyard is not flat otherwise I would. It might not look like it, but there’s a pretty large slope in my backyard. From the back of the house to the back of the yard is 3 1/2 drop. The ground on the sides of the house is also not flat. Garbage can would have just fallen over.

Could just move your bin to the back instead of carrying it all.
