Great idea! I wish I watched your video before I cut mine. You are right... they're sharp!

I have a neighbor who has three mounds of those up against her garage she did a little research and they say the best way to trim them once you cut them you burn them to create new growth. You did an awesome job, couple things I noticed when the center of it starts to die it means you need to dig and divide up the clump otherwise the center of it will completely die out. Also I was curious as to what you do with the plumes they make great ornamental focal point inside if you have a large enough container

Thanks Steve! Mine came back great and looks better than every this summer and fall without burning. Gasoline and most plants don't mix well so I've never used it but I have seen people do this. Wouldn't recommend it if the plant is close to a garage.

One of these was in our backyard when we bought the house. It is the ugliest thing I have ever seen and have tried everything except renting a mule and pulling the thing out by its roots! Seems like I'm always trimming it as it just grows and grows and refuses to NOT grow. How do people find these weedy things attractive??? Yike!

Have you tried cutting it off short like in the video and then spraying it with something like Roundup? If that doesn't work, you will probably have to dig it out. Mine does put nice looking flowers out in the fall and as the leaves are very sharp it's a deterrent to anyone climbing the fence in that area.

RTU or Roundup would easily kill it.
