This 2012 video, "Flight of the Bumblebee," is the title tune on CANADIAN BRASS' premiere Steinway & Sons label release, and, the first recording with all of the new permanent members of the ensemble: Chuck Daellenbach (tuba), Chris Coletti and Brandon Ridenour (trumpets), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (trombone) and Eric Reed (horn). After 40 years, the BRASS have maintained a remarkable consistency in their style and virtuosity, even as the individual members have gradually changed.
Nominated for a Juno award in 2013, "Canadian Brass Takes Flight" is the first recording featuring the Brass' new, gold-plated Conn-Selmer & Bach instruments. The repertoire includes favourite encores, new arrangements, and world premieres. As with their other recent releases, this disc is an audiophile sonic blockbuster, produced by Dixon Van Winkle and MB Daellenbach.
Brandon was inspired to write this arrangement of "Flight of the Bumblebee" for his colleagues by the trumpet and piano arrangement he and his father Rich Ridenour created for their own duo.
Canadian Brass would like to thank FACTOR (The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent On Recordings) for their assistance on this album.
Chris Coletti & Brandon Ridenour, trumpets
Eric Reed, horn
Achilles Liarmakopoulos, trombone
Chuck Daellenbach, tuba
What's oxygen am I right
Jayu Lawliet umm
All you do for that is buzz your lips
Maxeh, but buzzing does take air does it not? Either way this way amazing
@@alexandergermanelo1146 they use circular breathing technique so they do take in oxygen :)
Alexander Germanelo He is soooo wrong. You do use air, some people say buzz as little as possible because it can make your tone closed. They are definitely using air.
they use valve oil made from Louis Armstrong's tears
red roses too

you're the thrid comment that replies to the first one. and i;m choking

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what child prodigies look like when they grow up and don't lose their powers.
SMERSMER Or normal people who work really hard.
magicmonkey707 Then I got a chance
SMERSMER Heck yeah! Believe in yourself and put in lots of time.
Lol not really, they probably just worked on it really hard, there’s way harder pieces to play than flight of the bumblebee, it’s a scale for those of you who don’t know, and with enough practice and hard work anyone can play it.
So just prodigies?

lol, all i was thinking was "wow the trombone has a really easy part" and then i got to 1:09 and i was like never mind
right?
It's not easy at ALL to play trombone that fast... Because there's a limit on how fast you can move the slides
You should really see the army field band trombone player do the bumble bee its cool
Are you telling me! That lung-lip-arm coordination is unbee-lievable.
Maestro 7 bruh but he's killing some super fast sixteenth notes the WHOLE time. Even before 1:09
damm all shiny golden instruments
they are actually made of brass
They are brass, though they do look pretty golden!

Although I'm a trombonist I have to say, I am strongly rooting for the curly haired trumpet player. Damn
Yaich Aisha Thanks Yaich! -Chris (the curly haired trumpet player)
Yaich Aisha Eh... all five are hot and talented. Shame Brandon and Eric left :( These five were my favorites. Luckily as far as I'm concerned, Chris, Achilles, and of course Chuck are still in it. Chuck has been a part since the beginning and is still going strong! Love you guys!
Same😩

It was super but I swear every time I see a "nobody is talking about x" comment it's always surrounded by people talking about x, lol
I agree!
A solid B5 damn
That is not nearly as impressive as flight of the bumblebee itself especially if it is being played by multiple people at once

Finally the UA-cam recommended is working properly
This has to be the first time I actually enjoyed flight of the bumblebee as a performance, rather than just appreciating technical skill. Thank you for this joyous performance!
we need the slow-mo guys here to record this

Wonderful This was my favourite request at a like band restaurant which had an excellent violin player. I was wondering how this would turnout. It was absolutely classic.
What energy that is a very hard song. It’s unbelievable. I can’t believe that anyone could even play. It much less in a band like this.

not gonna lie, i expected a kickass melody solo from the tuba at the end. though not received, I am damn well pleased.
To all interested in playing this arrangement, the sheet music is now available via the link in the description

I love the camera work. Fantastic job at combining the musical energy with camera movements

@@tylerruhe7998 Why, its flight of the bumblebee
@@tylerruhe7998 1. Its very obvious it's a joke, in fact, its so obvious, its like sarcasm was painted on it's forehead.
2. Its flight of the bumblebee
If I hadn't just heard this, I would have said that it was impossible. There are certainly some extremely talented musicians around, and these guys would have to be at the top end.
I love this and totally wasn't expecting him to sing that note at the end!
Likewise my friend
Castiel walks in:
*I HEARD B E E S*
The random high note at the end had me rolling on the floor 😂😂😂😂
I can never listen to that
The trumpet player at the end there sounded as if something (Jaws?) grabbed his testicular region and bit down REALLY hard. He got about two octaves above what most can generate vocally. How??
Falsetto, men can kinda close half of their vocal chords to hit notes in that register.
+Tom Swinburn That's called falsetto. But it is extremely high for a male voice. He must have a tenor range to begin with -- your average bass/baritone probably couldn't hit that note cold.
Actually Milo, Bass/Baritone singers tend to have higher and easier falsetto ranges. Just a vocal anatomy thing. In fact, men that sing "Castratti" parts in modern vocal performances are usually Baritones using their high falsetto.
Luis that's whistle register
Bro I play the French horn and after I watch this I don't know why I'm even playing it lol
same here
Ohhh your one of them I see
Wei Chem same

I can’t believe the difficulty. Bravo!
Amazing arrangement and absolutely outstanding performance, just cool
For everyone saying that they're not actually playing this, they are playing this,I heard them in person today in my school they're pretty amazing and Caleb and the rest of Canadian Brass was fantastic today. Sucks that I couldn't take a picture with the group but Thanks for coming and performing in our school we appreciate it a lot :)

Such flawless playing and beautiful tones, trumpets playing perfect high notes, the horn with a calming but invigorating tone and melody, and the tuba and trombone with amazing baritone noises and fast playing.
Try watching this video played at X2 speed. so cool.
I'll have to agree with you.
JA JA JA !
HOLY CRAP I need to try to convince my friends that that was legit at 2x. XD
how do you do that
Siascha Brown There should be a button in the settings (the gear)

Why is UA-cam recommending me this only now, 8 years later?
What oil/grease does that trombone player use? i want some

What a wow for that trumpet running notes just got that really unexpected
Canadian brass is really good at playing instruments, I am a tuba player, I have been playing tuba for a while now and I attempted to play that on my tuba and first of all it took to much breath then I could handle and I got a lot of notes wrong
I really loved the trombone in this video especially when he was switching between notes really fast. The trumpet was amazing as well, I am also learning flight of the bumblebee on trumpet too.
Alex Gonzalez did anyone ask if you were learning flight of the bumblebee

Perfection! My bro-Dad and Grandfather could never do this. I quit playing the piano forever when asked to do this in concert followed by Sabre Dance--Bravo to all of you!
Fantastic - Best renditiion of this song that I have heard so far.
That note at the end 😬

Extraordinary! I was holding my breath, in case they ran out! I’ll watch this again and again.
This video is funny is you watch it at 2x speed😂

OMG I so thankful these people go to come to my school and perform! I even got to take a picture with them and get their autographs!
To do this on a French horn is beyond amazing as you need lip muscle control to help create those notes. Wonderful job guys
