If you have footage of The Mars Volta sitting on an old hard drive and would like to see it properly archived and released contact us at themarbleshrine@gmail.com. Even if the audio isn’t the best we’d love to see it. We may have audio from another source that we can sync it with.
Jesus. Juan and D are straight killing it.
Trinkets Pale Of Moon sounds so good live

How crazy is that you literally called it lol how was the show?
@@jonathanwoks9505 they were amazing, played a really good set list!
Im so glad the marble shrine exists. Thanks a million
They ushered in the new millennium musically
Hell yeah! I had audio of this years ago. This show was killer, but I’m glad this wasn’t my last “Volta” show.
thanks a lot!
Deantoni Parks
Techno Fuckin Self
I thought it was pridgen at first!
Omar has done a lot with both of them, hard for me to pick a favorite.
Awesome I have credit for my footage!
Thank you for filming!
U rock!
cedric sounded great on this tour
Awesome!
Por alguna razón me recordó a los shows del 2005
shame that this jacob was so well documented and not the vastly superior versions from earlier in the tour
Just curious on several of these videos the sort of loose jams are usually called "Jacob jams" just wondering where that originated?
The main riff is from Omar's song "Jacob Van Lennepkade"
Or more precise: the head melody (played by Omar here @ 01:30). It first appeared as „Jacob Van Lennepkade“ on Omar‘s 2005 self-titled album. A version with a slightly different bass riff (same as Viscera Eyes) was performed by his solo group in 2005 and 2009. A live recording from a 2005 performance appeared on the album „The Apocalypse Inside Of An Orange“ as „Jacob Van Lennepkade II“. In 2006 it was performed by The Mars Volta during the short time when Deantoni Parks was their drummer for the first time as part of a long, hour long track titled „Today‘s Song“. This version had the characteristic syncopated riff you are hearing here. It was never officially released. In 2008 they introduced that jam with Thomas Pridgen on drums. It finally returned in 2011 during the secret TMV tour this video is from.
@@n.senada they also played it in 2010 as ORLG at the shows without ximena. check the russia shows. also, while simmilar, the OG jacob riff is not the same as vicera eyes. jacob starts on the downbeat and viecera is displaced by one 16th note, which is also true of the walkup at the end of the second bar
do you have any insight into why they did these secret volta shows under omar's name?
They originally planned to do an El Grupo Nuevo tour with Zach Hill on drums. But he broke his foot / started Death Grips in early 2011 and cancelled. The dates in smaller venues were already booked and Noctourniquet almost finished, so they decided to play it live as a secret TMV tour.
@n.senada oh cool i wish we couldve seen those el grupo neuvo shows but these were all so cool aswell
scientology era cedric aint that bad
😑🤟🏾
El "interceptions" siguiente a "The Malkin Jewel" es la canción cover 'Broken English' de Marianne Faithfull, genial el trabajo de audio y vídeo.
