Nice work guys! I just painted my track frame too a week ago. I hung it upside down on a tree in my garden, the string going through the little crank tube. Worked good, could turn it however I needed it
Hey Jackson! Really loved the way this paint job has turned up. I am planning to have a same pattern on my bike. Where can I find the line drawings for vinyl cutting? Hope to hear from you.
same here. if you would let us use your file that'd be amazing! What I want to do is apply the vinyl, let my frame rust and then remove them and have it epoxy clear-coated :)

Most auto parts stores have duplicolor spray paint, and duplicolor is great for that sort of thing. The best clear coat you can get in spray cans is called 2K epoxy clear coat. It has two parts that you blend by pushing in a little button on the bottom of the can, and then you have 48 hours to use it before the can stops working correctly.
metal wire or like steel thread or whatever the stuff is called in English is the best way to hold the frame imo. i usually hang It from a tree and that also allows you to move the frame around while you are painting it.
@Chris Slingerland wow, thanks a lot, man. nice to hear that. I haven't studied anywhere, these are years of practice. And it's because I really love it
Hey, great work, and very entertaining video. I too had the same idea of masking topographic features on my gravel bike frame, what artwork did you use for your cutter? If you could please share that file? Thx!
Etched primed and ready to go. Waiting for temps to drop to 70F to start painting with Montana cans. Plan is random pattern of gold and baby blue as the undercoat. Mask off some tiger stripes, then top coat with pink to purple fade. Remove tape. Clear coat x2, wet sand with 1000 grit, clearcoat x2. Buff with polishing compound.
@@johnsprague1678 Fades were ok but not satisfied with the masks. Didn’t peel them off at the right time so they were messy. Sanded it all down and started over by respraying to a single color pink, applied logo stickers then clearcoated. Final product looked good but disappointed I didn’t get what I initially wanted.
Hi Jackson! I was wondering, for a road bike frame 52 cm. how many oz of paint would it take to cover the frame. I'm going to use a spray gun/compressor, and was wondering how much paint I will need. It would be just the base coat. Thank you in advance.
I've been looking at getting one of these for about a year now. But I'm not sure on size for a bike to learn to do tricks on. Any advice? Should I size down or up or true to size as possible?
Hi Jackson Really love the video and your paintjob, keep it up! I'd also really love to have the files, I'd like to do it with raw steel against rust. Hope to hear back xx
hey Foad gang, just spent a month fixing up an old bike only to have it stolen last night. any tips on how to not just give up? or where to buy junk bikes? I can't afford a new one
Rory Fisher don’t give up! We’ve had several bikes get stolen, which have later been recovered. Even months later! Keep your eyes peeled, check stolen bike hot spots, and inform you local community. Always good to register your bike, but that’s not always an option. Don’t give up!
This frames look so good, I just don’t understand why the rear spacing is 135mm and the crank compatibility is so whack. Mash frames have the same tyre clearance and all cranks are compatible 🧐
It's a little challenging find hubs to make it work, but the added tire clearance is very nice! Check out Level Hubs, you can switch out the spacers to accommodate 120 and 135 spacing. Pretty rad and will work with different frames!
You all regret not sanding the frames, but you don't say why. How much of a difference would it have made, considering the frames all came out pretty good looking? Is it a longevity thing, or a "it would've made painting it easier" sorta thing? Or both?
Sanding is a drag but essential. The paint doesn't stick well without a good cleaning and sanding. It'll look cool until it starts flaking and peeling too soon after all the finishing details. I've been there😅 Make sure you get all the nooks and crannies.👌
@@jp93309 Good call on this! The paint is pretty dry so it can come out rough. Wetsanding will definitely knock down the roughness, be careful that you don't take off too much though!
Everything functions properly ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of UA-cam. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!

What colors were used on the dark grey/ black frame? I am thinking around the same look with the gloss black design and matte top coat. Process?
It’s a Eddie Van Halen’s frankenstrat paint job, isn’t it?

If its a new bike, do you still need to sand the paint off ?
how did you make the topography lines using a cricut machine?
Where can I find the same vinyl decal stencils as the black and silver bike please be sure to let me know it’s freaking sick
jackson, what vinyl cutter did u use/ design name for ur bike
Lauryn Ledesma the cricut maker!
I've done some stencils year ago and would be tempted to cut my own vinyl - what should like for in vinyl for this purpose?
What kind of stickers they used? Could you please tell us . :)
Temporary vinyl is ideal so it doesn’t peel up the paint.

Re-up what Another One commented. It doesn't matter too much in the application, but in the long run the paint will stick better.
Has anyone used spraybike paint and the end product is really rough? Almost feels like sand paper. How do I prevent that issue?
Maybe 2 light layers of clearcoat, wetsand with 1000-1200 grit, then 2 more coats of clear. At least that’s my plan.
