it would be a lot easier to just assemble the gun first and then paint all of it at once... it takes far less taping and you get a much better looking pattern all along your rifle and can even spray over any of your attachments if you plan on keeping them on that rifle. Its also much better to start with your lighter colors first and work your way to darker through the pattern because its always easier to darken something up then make it lighter. If youre using rattle cans then also dont worry about the paint rubbing off in some places, its going to happen and its part of the process and adds to the camouflaging, its not meant to be some beautiful piece of art, your firearm is a tool to save your life at the end of the day. The only real reason to pain a gun is to match it to the environment its going to be used in for lower visibility.

Looks good AF. Captured the feel of brand new BDU’s. I had the sucky ACU’s. (Notice not many paint jobs copying THAT crap!)
I did mine using Walmart camo cans. And the very same clear coat you did. I was inspired by Kryptek, but used a simple fishnet style laundry bag as a stencil.
I just alternated light over dark. Once with just paint in a generic camo pattern with 5 colors. OD GREEN, dark olive green, foliage green, coyote brown, desert tan.
Once the base is in take a pick of both sides, wrap the netting around the build very tightly. Thus distorting the fishnet geometry. Then paint light over dark, and dark over light using the pics as reference.
Use a bit over overspray to spot and add texture during the netted stage. Then remove the net and enjoy the 3D look.

Not talking shit about u or anything but still oily means poor adhesive normally.
Taking a rag and rubbing down your paint job will help with sticking.
While i do think a songle thin layer of clear is ok it also does increase the shine which isnt ideal 3 coats and man the shine on that will stick out.
