    Hey Jeremiah, I'm a Pennsylvania ex-pat living in SoCal where there's lot's of hills. After watching your video I bought the T42. I wanted at least 750W and definitely hydraulic brakes and this is the best bank for a buck. I got a new front fork delivered yesterday via DHL express from Hong Kong. (My new T42 came with a damaged fork). It was not a difficult install. The Neco collapsing handlebar mechanism is the same one that Lectric uses so there are many videos. I did do some modifications that improved riding comfort. I turned the whole "tree" around so that it tilts toward you instead of away. I also added some swept back moustache handlebars. The handling is so much better and there's less back strain from always leaning forward. And it still folds to fit in my car. I broke it in at the beach yesterday. Thanks!

      Mine also came with damaged fork and front latch mechanism and they had sent both replacement parts via DHL express. I'm interested in the turning the tree around like you did as I thought the way it is out of the factory where it's leaning forward looks...odd. I'd probably do the handlebars too, still learning a lot. I did 11-28 conversion and am able to reach 35mph with no ghost pedaling. Off rode, of course.

      @@1420MHZ I need to do the 11-28 conversion. Good that you got your parts straightened out. I turned my tree back around. With the swept back handlebars it was too close to me. My main problem has been with my longer legs I have to raise the seat post fairly high to get good leg extension. With that when I come to a stop my feet are very far from the ground. I'm beginning to think that the 20" folders are better for people of the shorter heights.

      Hey Joe Black, thanks for sharing the mods you did for the headset. Could you share HOW you did the turning of the “tree”, and what brand or particular model of swept-back “mustache” handlebars you bought to replace the stock handlebars? Any special thing you had to do regarding the re-installation of the grips, brake levers, etc. ? Any re-routing of wires? Would love to know all you could share about your mods experience. Thanks!

      Yes it shows a direct comparison which definitely showed it was more powerful. Sometimes it’s hard to explain it and easier to just show it. I think part of this is because the T 42 uses a 20 amp controller.

    Nice review. Bike looks good. Lots of healthy competition in our developing ebike market is fun to see. New Lectric mid drive and Ariel Kepler. Good deals from plenty of other players like Aventon, Bee Cool, Rad Power, and Juiced. Great to get to see thoughtful reviews of ebikes like this. Thank you.

      Ditto what @jimmy james said! I have the XP Lite - a nice bike for me. But this T42 has 180mm hydraulics and a stronger 750w motor, About the only mods I would do are suggested by Jeremiah: sprung saddle/seatpost, and 11-28t cassette. (I might rig up a 2nd on-line battery connected in parallel, that I can pop on for longer rides.)

    FINALLY GOT A CHANCE TO RIDE MY G-FORCE BIKE.. oh yeah and I bought it because of this video.
    Yes the 22 amp upgraded controller and 80nm makes a difference!!
    I never tried your version but.
    After unlocking the speed. I GOT IT TO 33 MPH THROTTLE ONLY!!! WOW!!
    OH YEAH AND I'M OVER 300 LBS!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
    And yes the. Speedometer was calibrated with GPS next to my phone.
    The thing really takes off!!!
    I had to really adjust the speeds.. I switch from 0 to 3 actually to the option of 0 to 9!!!
    0 to 9 matches the speeds of the pedal better.. for instance the starting spot is like 40% instead of 50.. think I'm going to have to even adjust it more..
    I think there's even a setting in there now that I found the manual for THE DISPLAY ONLY. A lot of hidden settings. You could change the sensitivity of the pedal assist. You could change the pedal assist in terms of ( That you can use the throttle only, So you can separate from peddling only, or just pedal only )

    I got 65 miles on my T42 and let me tell you that it’s a dam beautiful. Bikers looks at my bike. Feels like a rolls Royce. The seat does hurt after a while but I am pretty sure some spandex bike shorts will solve that. I want to make a review about in the future. I just don’t like how confusing the menu system can be especially when changing settings and how they upgrade the ebike every once and while and I forget which version did I buy. As well as “ghost peddling” at 15mph. In bike lanes I have to go 10mph to get a workout in but anything higher and the bike will just do the work for me. I adjusted setting pedal 1 to 10 and it’s just the sweet spot. Mile range is great 30-40 I believe is the one I got. Would recommend anything higher than 50 if you plan to go further.

    Thank you very much for your videos. This one and others have really helped me choose my 1st ebike. I went with the T42 because of your review and bought several accessories that you recommended. I researched a bunch of others and mostly went with your recommendations. I tend to obsess a little on larger purchases, watched ‘em all and your videos were by far the most helpful. Thank you so much.
    You’ve talked a bit about seat changes but I am curious if you have a video showing an installation with the needed shim?
    I’d recommend doing a video on locks and locking techniques. Maybe I am missing it but there is almost nothing on the internet showing specifically how to lock this or similar bikes. Lots of stuff on locks themselves. Maybe it’s mostly common sense but this bike looks like it might have some challenges (I haven’t received the bike yet. That will help). It looks like I’m going to go with 2 locks. A ulock with cable and a folding lock.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому +2

      Well thank you so much I really appreciate that and glad my videos were helpful in your decision to find the right bike. as far as seat installation I’m sure I have it in one of my videos I will probably be making more videos like that in the winter when I can’t ride as much.
      As far as locks go I would definitely not recommend a cable lock unless it’s in addition to something heavier because they can easily be cut and the $18 alarm that I have been recommending is a great added feature to deter possible theft. After you get your bike let me know what you think after your first ride.

    • @sdnnhy8421

      I received the bike and put it together. It rides great and is very quick. I will definitely be changing out the rear cogs as it ghost pedals past 15mph. I am having one pretty major issue though; the chain rubs on the rear tire in the 1st two gears and it can’t be fixed by adjusting. Does yours do this or it something you have any insight on?

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому

      Some of my bikes are very close to the tire. I’ve had a few rich before And fixed it by slightly bending the derailer out on the bottom. Maybe you derailer is bent in slightly?

    • @sdnnhy8421
      @sdnnhy8421 2 роки тому +1

      I think that is the case; they are sending me a new a derailleur. Customer service has been pretty responsive and helpful. I’ll replace the freewheel at the same time. I’ve decided to throw on a dropper post as well. I’ve been riding around quite a bit and I love it. I’ve ridden around town, taken it on a few trails and some super steep hills. It’s an awesome bike. Handles everything I’ve thrown at it. A few quarks here and there but I am super impressed considering the price. I hope it will hold up. Seems super solid and easy enough to work on.

Can't wait to go for a ride on this thing. I'll also be purchasing the 11-28 freewheel, mirrors, tire liners etc. which i think are essential and have a local bike shop install them. @@JeremiahMcintosh They responded the next day stating they will send a replacement fork so that was good, but upon further inspection of the bike I found another problem with the latch that allows bike's handlebars to fold/unfold - the metal rod inside the latch is broken on one end and has a stress fracture on the other end so when the neck/handlebars are in locked position, I can actually move the handlebars front and back, which moves the latch up and down, so the bike is really unsafe to ride, I can totally see the latch unlocking when riding and collapsing. I've emailed customer support, awaiting response. What a pain...

    • @JeremiahMcintosh

      Sounds like it got damaged in shipping. Typically you can tighten the latch with the Allen screw in front but if it is stress fractured that’s a problem.

      @@JeremiahMcintosh It appears so, at any rate, I just wanted to update this thread. The company has been very responsive and had sent both parts via DHL express. I've since replaced them both and can now confirm proper operation. They apologized for the inconvenience and also credited $50 back to my account which was nice of them. The second part, the latch, even though they could have sent just the latch, they opted to send the latch and the neck that that it connected to, which was nice, I just pulled the latch out and replaced that and right now I can say the bike is operating 100%. The 1st day I rode over 20 miles with all the default factory settings and had 30% battery left. When I powered he bike back on the next day it showed 70% so take the battery life accuracy with a grain of salt, otherwise with 11-28 conversion, I was easily reaching 35mph and no ghost pedaling at highest gear which is great.

      I actually changed mine from (0 to 3) to (0 to 9) And then you can change all of the power percentages you want the motor to help you they're all set to high I think out of the box they're set to 20 miles an hour not the 28..
      You definitely going to do some tweaking most people pick 0 to 5 PAS and tweak that. THEY ALL NEED TO BE TURNED DOWN IF YOU WANT TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE ACTUALLY HELPING THE MOTOR..
      This is what the company told me.
      But for the highest gear seven there's nothing you can really do unless you change the sprocket from 14 to 28 to 11 to 28 Then you'll be able to keep up at 28 mph.
      FYI I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT MINE BUT MY TOP SPEED AND I WEIGH OVER 300 LB ( I GOT IT TO 33 MPH AND THAT WAS CALIBRATED CORRECTLY BASED ON GPS!! )
      I think I got the upgraded 22 amp controller and 1,000 watt peak motor. They're always upgrading even if you bought the G-Force bike 6 months ago they sense upgraded they just don't say anything.. they all do this. It's a constant rush to upgrade from the same manufacturers the middleman people we buy the bikes from can't keep up.. there's just so many..
      There's a way to test out the speed Believe it or not.. came across this by an accident.
      Put your bike up on the kickstand Lean it sideways BUT BE VERY CAREFUL!! Make sure it's set to 100 km/h not the 50 I think it comes standard which is about 20 mph. You wanted to go up to 100 km/h which I think is over 30 miles per hour.
      When it's tilted on the kickstand GO TO PS5 MAKE SURE IT IS 100% OR PAS3. PRESS THE THROTTLE BUTTON LOOK AT THE SPEEDOMETER!! MINE RED 33 MPH!!
      I figured there was no resistance so it would be under 28 on the road!!! NOPE THIS THING IS SO POWERFUL THAT IT TOOK MY OVER 300 LB ASS UP TO 33 MPH!! THE EXACT SAME SPEED IT WAS WITH THE WHEEL BEING FREE LEANING ON THE KICKSTAND!!

    Not to mention setting the PAS level to 100 for the last PAS speed and maxing out the kilometers to 50 km/h I'm 300 lb and I'm going 32 or 33 mph with the updated controller THROTTLE ONLY! And that is GPS calibrated!!
    THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS AWESOME!! THAT'S ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WHEN YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE COMPANIES!! BECAUSE THERE'S SO MANY OF THEM!!
    There's a great Facebook G-Force support page user group that is fantastic.
    I had an issue with my back tire and rim not being true!! That means the spokes need work.. no company probably does that in the factory.. It's a hit or miss.
    Mine was a little warped going up and down kind of making a slight hump sound... They told me it was probably the tire I sent them a video that I put on the user group.. THEY'RE SENDING ME A BRAND NEW HUB, RIM, TIRE, ROTOR EVERYTHING AND IT WILL BE HERE WITHIN 7 DAYS!!
    I've noticed on the user group anybody who had an issue this is what they're doing very quickly!!
    It's so comforting to know their support like that from a company you bought a bike from!!
    GO G-FORCE!!
    ;)

    Thanks for a nice review of the T42 it was a bike I had never considered until I saw your video. The other bike I'm looking at is the Engwe Engine Pro (upgrade version). I watched your review of that bike as well. It's more expensive but seems to have a great number of features. What are your thoughts on the two bikes in comparison to one another? I get the impression that the Engwe motor is not as powerful as the T42 or was that a previous model you reviewed?

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому +4

      In my opinion I do feel like the new Updated T42 has more power. The Engwe engine pro is a nice bike but it had something weird about the throttle that I didn’t like and not sure if they have changed it yet. When you’re going uphill as soon as you start to pedal it cuts some of the power to the motor if you let off the pedals and just use throttle it gave you full power but you cannot help assist with the pedals because when you do it limits power for some reason which is kind of backwards from any other bike I’ve tested. I do show an example of it in that video.

      @@JeremiahMcintosh Yes, I remember that issue. The other thing was the 750 watt motor was more like a 500 watt. Past that I’m not familiar with how either company supports their bikes. Engwe seems to be strictly email support. While the T42 price tag is lower, I’m sure I’ll need to upgrade the seat post and seat. Now it starts to approach the Engwe in price. Decisions, decisions. • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому +2

      It’s hard to say but the power does seem about the same as most of my other 750 watt bikes. It has a 20 amp controller so the max wattage when the battery is at 48 V would be 960w and when the battery is full at 54v would be about 1080w but that’s assuming it is actually programmed to put out 20 Amps. Some bikes are programmed for less Than the controller rating and no matter what you change it to it doesn’t matter that’s why I like showing these real comparison test.
      Again ….not actually sure on that Max output.🤷‍♂️

    Thanks for the thorough review!! Based on your video we purchased two (his and hers). Received them yesterday, but have yet to take them out. There's a couple things you may be able to help with due to your experience with many electric bikes. One bike we received has crooked handlebars (skewed right with a straight wheel). Is there any way for us to make this adjustment at home, or will we need to take in for service? Secondly, the LCD Monitor has LOTS of features accessible in the deep menus, but we have nothing with regard to explaining most of what we're seeing. Have you seen a manual for the LCD Monitor that you could provide a link for? G-Force includes a few basic options, but we can't find anything beyond that. Thanks again for the great review!!
    PS: We added the freewheel you recommended to both bikes, and the Cloud-9 seat to the existing seat post. That was a BIG chore (Allen screw WAY overtightened and seat rails a little wider than slots on stock post. Both obstacles took some time to sort out)! Probably should've opted for a different post, but we were trying get by with just the seat.

      If you fold the handlebars down there will be a bolt directly in the center you should be able to loosen that up straighten your stem then re-tighten the bolt.

      This is the spare tube I carry around for my 20x4 fat bikes but haven’t had to use it yet so can’t comment on durability. amzn.to/3R8C3FE
      That battery is expensive but It is 20Ah. Usually a 10ah battery from other companies are around $300 so double that would be $600 for 20Ah.
      Unfortunately I don’t know any alternatives my bike actually has a slightly different frame design with the 10 AH battery. Since I have reviewed the bike they upgraded the frame to a little bit bigger frame to accommodate the bigger batteries.

    Thanks for the great review and tips! We just purchased two of these and are looking to buy suspension posts. We are confused about the size of the shim we need. Your suggestions say a 31.6 to 33.9 for a 31.6 post. When looking at the item on Amazon, there is not one for the 31.6 to 33.9 size. Which do we choose?

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому

      You need 33. 9 mm outside diameter(to match the bike seat post tube) on the shim and then the inside diameter has to match whatever seat post you purchase. If you get the zoom suspension post I recommend the 31. 6 mm one because you get 10mm more travel with it compared to the 7. 2 mm post. When I posted the link to the shim it was available but may have sold out.

    Hi JM! New subscriber here, and new to e-bikes but I've been watching a bunch of videos and yours are great. I've narrowed it down to the T42 and the Lectric XP 2.0. I think the stats and performance favors the T42 as you have demonstrated, but not sure on the durability and support. Both vendor sites show 5/5 reviews (of course), but Amazon shows 4.1/5 (pretty low) for the T42 (but most before the recent upgrades). I haven't found anything "independent" for XP 2.0 reviews. I'm not looking for any fix-it projects (in my 70's). Should I go with the crowd (XP), or take the better specs withthe T42? Thx!

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you so much Mark! I’m glad you’re enjoying my videos. That’s ultimately going to be your choice. The T 42 does seem like a solid bike with more power than the 2.0 and in my opinion a great deal with the hydraulic brakes but I cannot speak for their customer support. They both have Facebook forums with Lectric having more members and Lectric does have the US-based support.
      If you do decide to order make sure you use the link in the description to their official webpage because I think the Amazon models are the old version.
      Overall though you’re going to have to decide for yourself as far as your needs.

In your review you mention the lowest the seat goes to the ground is 31.75 inches. However on their web site (canada) it says that the minimum seat height from the ground is 35 inches. This is a very big difference. Can someone please measure from the ground to the lowest the seat will go and tell me the inches? I am wondering if the manufacture has the dimensions wrong. Thanks a lot.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh

      I physically always measure the seat height when I’m reviewing a bike because companies often have the wrong specifications on their website when it comes to size, weight and measurements.

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  2 роки тому

      The chain is not actually under much stress because it’s a hub motor bike so it would be like a regular bicycle as far as the chain goes. The brakes are going to depend whether you do a lot of hill riding and fast riding but brake pads are typically cheap and the battery should last many years if well taken care of and should last around 300 to 500 charge cycles.

    Another thing that's confusing with all of these e-bikes.
    For instance the G-Force bike that you have right there well the new upgraded model so weird to say they upgrade so quickly.
    Has a 22 amp controller, ( and the NM is 80 )
    But yet another bike that you recently reviewed the VITILAN which now has an upgraded controller from 22 amps to 25 ( yep things change that quick!!) ONLY HAS AN NM OF 75!!
    I know this has something to do with the torque But all the numbers don't add up. How can The G-Force with only a 750-watt motor 1,000 w peak have a higher 80NM then the NOW UPGRADED VITILAN 750 watt motor 1200 watt peak only 75NM
    ( these are the new specs of those bikes as of right now! )!
    This is also confusing 🤣
    Maybe you can shed some light on the subject.
