This beautiful and unusual rare plant is currently in high demand. Like most other variegated rare plants, it is also a slow grower and takes us years to grow it into a nice plant in a 5” pot. White Variegated Monstera has leaves 13-18” wide with large holes resembling Swiss cheese (some people call it Swiss Cheese Plant). Each leaf is unique with no two the same.
The irregular cream-and-green variegation creates some leaves that are nearly fully white with green markings and other leaves are green with white marbling. Aerial roots anchor it to a trellis, moss pole or wall. In its native habitat, it’s an understory plant that climbs up tropical trees. Mature plants produce breadfruit, an 8-10” long cone, that takes a year to mature into an edible fruit.

My mom always had one or two Monsteras in our living room. Only the stick was a wooden broomstick wrapt in moss. They were always very large. Never seen one flower though. Easy plant too. When you go on holiday just put a 10-liter bucket of water next to it and stick two of the aerial roots in the bucket. Always kept them alive. Good memories.
flowers need open air to bloom. indoor plants usually won't bloom.

If you watch old movies, monsteras were actually one of the most prevalent plants in 50s films.

This is such a great video. My sister bought four for $60, I kid you not. She had no idea what she was buying and neither did the cashier at the gardening center. They charged her the price of a regular monstera.

Totally agree! - He's teaching things that are completely different from what I've heard from other UA-cam plant channels...He uses soil that isn't terribly chunky, says they are fairly resistant to root rot and he also says not to worry about "rooting" a cutting that has an aerial root b/c they adapt to soil.... I've always heard the complete opposite on all these things - I feel better now! I've been scared to death to pot my M deliciosa Aurea....

In forced air heating spider mites cAn be a reel issue even with a humidifier. Don’t get lax just because people say inspection aren’t a major issue on any plant!

I’m so confused!! All other videos say not to treat aerial roots like that and he just plops it right in some soil and waters it! What’s the correct way to root an albo monstera with aerial nodes??
Some of those air roots will die off in the soil, some will turn into feeding roots. Is there a "correct" way to root something? Nope. Root whatever method works best for you, bottom line. Some folks can't root in soil to save their life while others are the opposite.
How do you prevent the tip of the leaves for thai consellations for burning?

Before they became so popular I remember seeing a video where they were growing them from seed and I think I even saw a video on Planterina it was a couple years ago maybe where she visited a greenhouse that was growing up from seed just the plain green ones

@@felago5311 I cut back my regular monstera because the two I had outside for the summer were too big to put back in place. They all have aerial roots and are in water but the weather would have to get warmer to ship if you're interested... I guess I could do a video I'm show the cuttings on my UA-cam channel if you're interested... What are the % of the soil mix?
I just placed an order for one of this cutting variegated monstera ( from etsy) . I dont know if it acutally have any ariel root or not..... i just wonder if i can soak them in water for rooting or just plant it directly into the soil. I dont to kill it before it even grow lol.

wouldn't watering right after cutting cause rot? how do you prevent that?
Any plant needs to be watered right after transplanting. If the soil is well draining, the water will come out the bottom of the pot.

That was hysterical how he planted it. Then why do people root them in water especially when they grow only water roots. And no need to let it form a callous either. Wow, I've been being way too careful!
That’s what I’m concerned over! I just got mine today and I’m sweating over here trying to figure out the proper way to pot my cutting!
I used to be super soft-handed. Then I got the nerve to work at a nursery. Being slow and too soft would get you fired, haha! You just have to know what you're doing, at the end of the day.
He's going off large and very healthy plants so the cuttings can take a bit more directedness. The cuts are thick with large leaves which means they can store more energy to make roots and new growth.
