Michael Nesmith along side the other members of that TV band were an inspiration to thousands and thousands of young people back in the day. For those of us who were young kids back then they gave us all HOPE, The Monkeys were much bigger than simply a TV show, Together the four of them provided that touch of hope that was so needed back then for many reasons. Mike you did a great job. RIP

I am very sad that he passed away. It just stabs my heart because of the fact that there’s only one member left of The Monkees. It’s just really sad. I’ve only seen him once in Massachusetts, pretty recently. At least I got to experience his presence on the stage and performing. Rest In Peace, Micheal. ❤️

@@drumtwo4seven Both Mike and Davy had albums out before the Monkees. Pete was playing and performing as well. Mike wrote and arranged many of their songs. The band that played on their early albums also played on the Beach Boys songs. Many producers take a singer and pick the band members to play on their albums.

At age 8, they were the first rock band to call me a fan.
Time goes by so fast, it really does seem like yesterday they were kids on the TV show.
Each time one of these guys have passed, always feel like a part of my youth passes with them.
Every fan has their favorite Monkee and mine was Mike.
Micky seemed like the driving force that kept the Monkees going all these years and now he's the only one left.
R.I.P Mike. Thanks for the great music and many laughs.

I was a kid in the 60's and loved watching the Monkees on Saturday morning. It's sad when entertainers of your generation die off, it seem like a little of your life dies with them. Mike is a talent, so was Davy, Mickey and Peter. Not a lot of people know Mike's Mother, Bette Nesmith Graham invented Liquid Paper.
What a sad day he was a great actor and singer I use too watch the monkeys all time and I still play his songs he will be surely missed God bless him and forever R.I.P. and God bless and comfort his family at this sad time
I saw Mike and Mickey in Late October in one of those Farewell Concerts. I saw those 2 in the flesh.

Although I was never a great fan of The Monkees he did did produce the classic cult film Repo Man. Thank you, sir. 😢😢

His mom invented the liquid paper, and her company sold to Gillette shortly before she died in 1979 for 48 million, he was a only child so I would think he inherited quite a bit of it. He always seemed like a nice guy, never heard anything negative about him. may he Rest in peace
I read since I wrote this he inherited 25 million from his Mom in 1980, but he had been raised in the Christian Science Church and didn't see doctors much, he had a heart issue, and had by pass surgery but only went so far with the Doctors and then he was done with it .

Not at all. I was into 1950s music and that was not even my era I listen to any era if it's done well or also at the brings back memories many reasons for music listening and as we look back now past Decades of Music gets better with age better than a lot of music now and this is supposed to be my era of music to listen to in 2021 but it's easy to see the past decade and that came before that and Becky before that excetera was better music better artists so thank God we're able to incorporate that in our lives to still hear that music CD or downloads radio Etc and many people do the same
