My personal opinion, Pros and Cons Pros Masterpiece of efoils, streamlined, smooth, produced to the highest standards Improved a lot vs old Ultra1, better shape (little bit longer but more narrow) Outstanding MN setup and wings! New small details like Shims etc Cons Little bit noisier than old Ultra, I was expecting more quite motor considering how smooth small and thin it is. MN Remote is excessively over engineered and could be simpler and lighter. I think the old remote did the job just fine. All in all, state of the art machine, perfect for wave riders and those who want to race, ride fast and do rapid turns and carving! Really easy to control and very responsive! Clarification about the noise by Chris "The motor int he MN wave is different. It’s only 40mm which means we had to run a 7:1 titanium gearbox to get the torque. The only way to make it quieter is to remove the gearbox but then you would need a 65mm motor that would cause way more drag. We opted for a little more noise for way less drag "
I’ll never be able to drop the amount of money FliteBoard want for this but two honest reviewers at work here and appreciate the content. Adding chapters to the video would be a nice addition.
Great video. 100% agree its not the efoil for everyone but it is top of the line for the hybrid riders. Just to elaborate on the motor loudness: the short anwser is the efoil was designed to get simliar thrust out of a smaller motor which results in more noise. That being said. The performace aluminum and MN dual drive efoils have the newer conical mount as well. This combined with the new wings and larger motor results in a way quieter ride. Specifically the changes are deeper blade rake, redesigned blade shape, higher ratio gearbox, and redesigned cooling chamber. As a total aside I've ridden on a few wave efoils at this point and I have to say this was the loudest one I've heard. I would get a check up with a service partner
The mic on action cameras also doesn't always record accurate audio. Oftentimes it will make the sound of eFoils or certain pitches and sounds louder than they really are as was noted on the screen during those end video clips... And in some cases even less noticable, but definitely more the prior. Thanks Mike for including those more raw videos clips for us to hear the sound even if it is not true to real life. Good that you added that note. Some people will still not be impressed by the actual sound (me included), pending their ears, preferences, and uses. Some will be ok with hearing the sounds between waves, others it will be a deal breaker, especially if riding primarily flat water like myself... But flat water is obviously not the intended use for the UL2. With the sound of the motor it's not necessary to drop the remote to show that a rider is depowered on a wave. The audio will confirm that unless audio is replaced with music. People will definitely need to try before they buy to weigh the pros of performance vs cons of the sound. I'd still love to try it and any other eFoil though I'm on a lake. There's still opportunity to poach wakesurfing Boat waves and chase down Tour Boats
@@eFoilLakePowell great point! Yes i try to show both with music and without so people can hear all, but i agree the mic of insta360 makes it louder than it is in reality!
@@JetSurfingNation Cheers! Love your review videos. I got my jetboard built this summer and rode it, I have a video on my channel (not the greatest and will have much better ones soon)
It looks awesome but the price is prohibitive... Wouldn't you say it would make more sense to go for foiling drive if it's so ultra focused on surfing? And can you just pump it for a while or do you gradually slow down and drop in? Cheers
Well foil drive is not an efoil so it's not appropriate comparing it, fd is a foil assist for foiling.. While Ultra is super fast and powerful efoil made for races, fast turns and carving!
The true cost of the Foil Drive is over $10K. Max Unit, extra battery, a carbon board, a carbon mast, fuselage, front foil, and stab. So if you want an integrated HM Carbon mast, it’s another $3K. The benefit of FD is the modularity and cross-over with your regular foiling gear which can save money for existing foilers. The Fliteboard is either priced correctly or FD is overpriced.
With Ultra you can do very fast racing, carving, jumping which you cant do with FD. But of course for pumping FD is better because it's lighter and the motor is out of the water. As for wave riding it's probably similar with FD getting slight edge because it has nothing in the water (no props, engines etc)
@@JetSurfingNation how can something that has the drag of the motor (It can be as small as you want but it's always there) and much heavier be 'similar' to FD in waves? It's a matter of fact just because FD is specifically designed for that, and Flite is not (as you said it's good for very fast racing for example, of course you can ride waves with it but you cannot compare them). You should have said that FD is better for pumping AND for wave riding. I understand you don't want to upset anybody but with this kind of statement you can end up loosing your credibility that you built with time and effort, especially after you rode the FD for so much time.

@@JetSurfingNation I appreciate all the good video you make about all type of foiling. I have a Lift 4,2 gen 4 and it's supper quite, I really like my lift I just which it was a lot lighter. Have you try a foil drive with integrated mast in the efoil position ? I'm thinking of a foil drive with integrated mast in the efoil position and the max battery would be half the weigh of the L2, peoples said they get up to hour for surf foiling off power when on a wave so that's even more time out then the L2 with the Nano. What would you said is the down fall? Appreciate your input.
@@steevetremblay1877 well with efoil you will most time efoiling, pushing batteries to the limits on fast speed and carving, you cant really pump a heavy efoil too much.. with foil drive you go slow, it’s not going to be same as ultra but it’s lighter so you can pump more and longer!

top class efoil for sure
Great video Mike, well done. Looks like an interesting bridge product placed between efoils and full custom set up with foil drive yet
Thank you 🙏

It’s not loudest ‘of all’. It’s just little bit louder than old ultra.

Good video, I was disappointed to hear about how noisy it is on power not for me.
it's not really noisy, just little bit more noise than old ultra but different kind of sound, not that high pitch noise but normal low pitch sound!

It’s not very noisy, just little nit louder than old ultra but different kind of noise. Any efoil makes noises

What? Not sure I understood
I just can't get over that you're not surfing so what's the point. Board sports are riding the surface
@Jr-ud5cc why? You can foil this on the waves and we did also.. I didn’t get your point about surface? Foiling sports don’t ride the surface
