"Gege Akutami Wrote The Worst Ending in Shonen"
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 might go down as infamous as the ending of Game of Thrones TV Show. Major plot points deemed irrelevant, characters not given closure, and worst of all it was a waste of time. If these leaks are truly all we get from the upcoming chapter. This is easily one of the worst endings I've seen and probably the worst Shonen Manga ending I've read.

JJK is the epitome of "wasted potential". And Gege actually was cooking with the series. What a letdown
It's safe to say that he doesn't care about the series anymore, as much as it sucks to realize. He seems like the type to throw away his Magnum opus or whatever it's called- just because he's not feeling it. Which, is honestly understandable, but still a huge letdown.

I have no issue with happy endings…if it’s truly earned. This could’ve been a good ending if it didn’t feel so sloppy and abrupt. The Gojo thing I can’t look past. I get Gege doesn’t like Gojo but to completely disregard his death by having nobody mourn him or show some form of a funeral is insane. MHA wasn’t perfect but it actually had an ending that felt like an ending to a story. Forget a satisfying ending, JJK’s final chapter doesn’t even feel like an ending
It's pretty clear Gege doesn't give a crap about JJK, probably hasn't for some time now. That's one of the biggest pitfalls to this industry, you don't know if you're still gonna be interested in making this story many years later. And unfortunately it all rests on one person's shoulders which is taxing. Can't blame him for how he feels, but it sucks.

@@HatsuruHitoYT it is NOT that simple. even oda himself didnt actually planned everything. I think you meant to planned the way you wanted your story to end.
@@salehal4291 Oda also has over 1000 chapters. Gege has 271 chapters. It is fairly simple to think of the beginning, flow, and end of each arc if you have 11 arcs, with a lot of the arcs having less than 15-20 chapters.
@@salehal4291 By the way, it is clear that EVERY Shounen hasn't planned everything. All of the major shounen titles have huge plot holes and massive retcons. It needs to change. @@jasonblack2477 its just people were hating on it and JJK is similar to that ending but with more left unanswered.
Mha ending was slightly disappointing but it was at worst just mid and underwhelming like 5-6/10. Most of the people that were hating on the Mha ending were people that didn’t even read it and genuinely thought that Deku became a McDonald’s worker bcuz of the memes (I’m not even joking people would actually be surprised when told that wasn’t the case). But the jjk ending is straight up just bad

People were clowning on mha ending jokes on who now
Tbf, the MHA Ending was normal, though the jokes were a bit exaggerated (he works at McDonalds and gets cucked, though he never actually lost his career, he was relevant until the end of the manga (8 years and still counting), people respected him, and there were no implications of him being cucked nor that another ship happened).
They were still funny though.
Summary: MHA's ending is memeable, but NOWHERE it is bad ☠️
I feel like a lot of people did not actually read how the fuck the chapter ended up, because while they did leave a lot in mystery (though some of the mysteries were plot irrelevant, haha), they still answered majority of what was kind of vital to its story. Unlike JJK here (though I don't know how they'll fix everything left out within 11 more pages, since only 6 out of 17 pages were out), JJK's final conclusion is kind of hard to fix atp.
MHA ending is not as bad as it is memeable XDD.

Yup. Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball, Jojo, HxH, Sailor Moon, Fairy Tail, Berserk and One Piece have all outlived a lot of the new gen in one way or another.
Maybe the Jujutsu Kaisen was the one we made along the way?
I can't believe what a Jujutsu Kaisen this has all been!
Gege really hit us with the "Nah, i'd end", he was the main villain of jjk all along.
Its really my personal clown moment. Was a huge jjk fan after the first anime season. Started reading the manga a while after. Meanwhile friends asked me if i liked chainsaw man, since they're similar. Know what I said? I said "chainsaw man is like jjk, except i dont give a shit about any characters, ni thanks". And then Gege proceeded to mock me by killing every character i liked, and writing himself into a corner, while chainsaw man is cooking these last few chapters. I think I saw the writing on the wall, when they introduced todos mentor, the "what is your type of women" lady with her op cursed technique, only for kenjaku to be like "aha, good thing my new technique can counter that"
i read chainsawman way before i know JJK even exist
i think JJK character interaction is just so much worse than CSM making the character not as fleshed out, CSM doesn't really do much flashback to explain character, but their interaction make it up for you to understand better
Makima is also much more terifying villain than sukuna despite being so stoic
I too think that Gege just wanted to finish the manga and wanted to be done with it. After all, in the editor note it's stated that he's going to work on his next project. It's sad that it's a rushed ending and I would have loved to see and read more since it's my favorite manga (I've only read 3 don't judge me). Throughout the story Gege has proved himself times and times again that he's a competent writer, but the ending, even to me wasn't exactly satisfying. It's a shame, but it is what it is. I'll be on the lookout for his next work though. Hope he learns from this series and comes out with even greater stories.
His writing was awful. I’ve lost any trust that his next projects will be any good.
@@greg9088 thats your opinion which isnt fact.
Can't wait for his new manga. This is still his first ever book and he made it this far.
@@greg9088 I'm just trying to look at it from a positive side. What did we manage to gain and learn from this manga? Quite a lot if you ask me. And even when the ending is this bad, we still have so much to look back on that closed out real nicely. A couple examples that jump to my mind consist of Yuji's development as a whole, Maki's development with the Zenin Clan, Megumi's will to live, Gojo's development (his death to Sukuna and his inner battles with his identity), etc. And that isn't to say that some characters didn't get the short end of it. Kenjaku could have been developed a lot more imo, nobara could have been introduced a lot better, gojo should have gotten a mention in this last chapter, etc.
Excuse me for the long comment, but I do hope my point comes across that, despite the ending being bad, we still have amazing things to look back on. Amazing things where it's clear to see that Gege is a competent writer and anyone who says he isn't is a little disingenuous. But again, I've only read 3 mangas so far so you might not take it seriously, but maybe you do.
@@faith4657his writing is alright, but not good
Remember when they were mocking the Demon Slayer community for their ending? Oh how the tables have turned. Honestly though I think Gege just wanted to get rid of JJK and get onto his next manga. Something tells me he has a personal grudge on this story.
Either way, let's be real, JJK has been a ride. Whether the ending is sh*t or not we can't forget that it has had deep situations and philosophical conflicts. For me that makes it a good story.
Jjk ain’t that deep
@@Sublybubly fr shi aint deep at all
Bro out here acting like it's deep.
I think the breaks that the manga has along with the deadline might have also played a part and might have be part on why the ending is what it is. Again, Gege might have actually sabotage the ending on purpose but then again, we won't know for sure in a while.
I think the best things about jjk were the hype moments
This reminds me of how Togashi abruptly ended Yu Yu Hakusho because he was too exhausted to keep going. I think it's overwhelmingly obvious that that's what happened here. Hopefully, Akutami can work with MAPPA to fix the ending in the anime. That might be cope though.

@@angelgomez7081 I'm not comparing the endings. I'm comparing the circumstances.
@@angelgomez7081not really no...
@@angelgomez7081the anime did
I don’t think the ending was bad for the reason most people think, it’s not great but it’s not the ending the series deserved. We honestly didn’t need to see Megumi’s full potential because I feel like Meguna was that example. Fr we really didn’t need Sukuna’s backstory, we know what we needed to about him, he’s a curse(not a literal cursed spirit) he was rotten since birth. We didn’t need all these funerals and we didn’t need everyone crying over Gojo. That being said here’s my problem with the ending. Tsumiki getting an on screen grave/burrial was just unnecessary, like if you had to give ANYONE a burial it could’ve been something the readers actually care about like Nanami(or what’s left of him), Choso, or even Gojo and Geto, if we’re gonna give funerals and final send offs, it should be for RELEVANT characters. Yuji’s half assed domain. We don’t know what the name of his domain is, we don’t know what it does, we don’t know how strong it is, just disappointing. Nobara, I truly hate her comeback because it cheapens the story, it takes away from Mahito’s threat level because he couldn’t even kill Nobara💀. Like she WOULD have died but she wasn’t 100% confirmed dead. Lastly and mainly Kenjaku/Geto. I feel like the whole body/soul thing with Kenjaku and Geto was a less necessary thing to be introduced but could’ve been interesting to see. Like imagine if Geto’s body tried to choke or resist Kenny when Gojo got unsealed? What if instead of Todo using Boogie Woogie to help Yuta, Geto’s body fought back one last time to help Yuta end him, after all Geto has no grudge against Yuta, he loves sorcerers like family and would absolutely despise Kenny. Then there’s Kenny’s pointless America plot line and him and Yuki’s yap session about optimization cursed energy that went nowhere. But to me the 2 biggest let downs of Kenny are 1. Yuji never learning their connection and 2. The merger. I’ll go over 1 first cuz it’s shorter but Yuji never learned about Kenny being his mom. We never learned anything more about his creation and why HE’S Sukuna’s perfect prison. The most we got is Sukuna saying Kenny is sick and twisted even by his standards. That doesn’t explain what he did to make Yuji so strong. Couldn’t be the same thing he did to the other death paintings, he’s basically got a heavenly restriction without the restriction💀. On to 2, it just really sucks that we never got to see anything with the Merger. Kenny’s last words were literally “My will shall be inherited” 💀 We literally see Sukuna get authority over the merger and he just never does anything with it. Apparently him and Kenny had some kinda agreement or binding vow but that’s never explained. The merger had the potential to be this generational tragedy, something that would shatter the status quo of the jjk world. I feel like Gege wasn’t confident in his idea or execution and so he chickened out and let it die. And honestly “Kenjaku” being “Alive” with Takaba was pretty funny to me and a good ending for Takaba’s character (even though it wasn’t needed because he already had a good conclusion) but would be shitty for Kenny. I say would because I’m 90% sure it’s not Kenny and is just a character that convienetly looks like him. You might say this is crazy or cope but it’s genuinely in character for Takaba to do something like this especially to the reader because we know his technique transcends the manga itself by him pointing out “I’m on the final page” in an earlier chapter. So I think this Geto lookalike is just that, a look alike. All that Kenjaku level yap if I had to rate JJK as a whole I’d still give it a 6.5 or 7/10 because I still enjoy and love this series. And before any MHA fans try to get funny, Yuji is NOT putting the fries in the bag 💀
i think what describes it the best is "pointless" a lot of plot points were hyped up, several chapters of build up just to end up leading to nothing, prime example being kenjaku's plan
I think the first half of JJK is a 9/10, it rises in quality and peaks at the end of the Shibuya arc. The whole Culling Games thing was really dumb. 1/10 and not that interesting. Gojo vs Sukuna fight was peak 8/10 and I honestly thought killing Gojo was really interesting, but then the rest of the entire manga is basically just one long battle between all the existing characters and Sukuna with these tacked-on flashbacks of Gojo for fan service. Not that interesting 2/10 material. I was also really disappointed in the way Sukuna lost. Toji had such a cool death it would've been nice to see something at that level, but he just gets punched really hard and turns into cursed spirit slime. Like what? Such a lame way to go. And then the manga just abruptly ends after loads of exposition explaining the plot holes in the Sukuna fight. It's a bad ending in my opinion, but I'll never forget how good it was up until the end of the Shibuya arc.
I know that many shonen endings are divisive, and the first ones that come to mind are AoT and MHA. But I've always thought that AoT's ending made sense, even in the manga. And all the anime did was to change the aesthetics of buildings in the end to make it very clear that a lot of time has passed, and most people who saw the anime were satisfied with the ending. MHA's ending was cheesy and mid, but it also still made sense with the theme of the manga and it didn't leave as much plot threads as JJK, there were a lot of wasted potential, but not any jarring plot threads tat was just yeeted out the window. In AoT and MHA's cases, the ending may not be satisfying to many readers, but it cannot be said that it felt like the authors just gave up on the series and wanted it to end. JJK feels very much like GeGe gave up on the manga and just wanted it to wrap up. I've read a lot of mid manga before, but this is the first time that I legitimately felt like I wasted my time being invested in the series because I feel like the author was just trolling me by the end.
AoT's ending was mid and had a lot of missing plot threads too, but I agree. I don't believe the author intentionally gave up on the manga. I do feel that it was rather rushed though. MHA was better. Not the greatest, but I believe it is definitely above AoT's.
Isayama and horikoshi care more about their fans
@@beige_projection i agree with you. So many plotholes in jjk and left unexplained. Mha's ending has its issues but at least all plotlines had a closure, in which todoroki family's plotline was the most satisfactory. It also felt like a closure unlike jjk. Meanwhile for jjk, what is yuji's domain about? Why is sukuna the fallen, what happened to the merger? What happened to gojo's body, not even a funeral? What happened to kenjaku? Gege doesnt care at all.
The last few chapters of jjk was terrible and didnt feel like a closure as well. Why are you wasting pages explaining the power system, focusing on irrelevant characters and unnecessary setups in the last 5 chapters? No one seemed to care about gojo too except for that one page flashback from yuji.
My only one problem with aot ending was, how eren was handled. I don't even mind him destroying the world. He just didn't feel like character but plot armor. People still debate how much of the rumbling happened because eren wanted and how much it happened because ymir (godess) wanted. And Eren's mother part is worst, and i mean worst plot twist ever. No doubt. Still how almost everyone else was handled was amazing. I loved mikasa armin especially. But i didn't like eren.
@@meraj5393 Yeah this is what I mean. Many people may have had disagreements with how certain characters reacted or their motivations at the end of AoT, but I've never seen any criticism saying that it felt like Iseyama just gave up on AoT and wanted it to end. It was never like that. Same with MHA, Naruto, etc. So many mid shonen endings, but JJK's situation is actually kinda rare because the criticism is that it really feels like he just gave up on the story and wanted it to end. There's so many unresolved stuff so I personally felt like I wasted my time being invested.

I think killing Gojo was really interesting, but yeah after that it's just one long fight between Sukuna and the whole cast which goes downhill quickly. Also the Culling Games arc was awful.
Gojo was never gonna win. Him ending the story would've been anti-climactic as fuck. Why even have Yuji be the MC then?
The REAL issue is the cycle of people popping up dramatically only to be beat up in the next chapter, because Sukuna "iS bArEly TrYinG." Kashimo was utterly wasted, Miguel did literally nothing, Yuta coming back as Gojo was literally useless, and don't even get me started on Jacob's-fucking-Ladder

Please stfu. Please, enough with that meme.
Seriously, what a let down. I have never read a manga fall so high from grace so fast. Okay, maybe not so fast, the Culling Games were good but a comparison would be like Game of Thrones.
Everything from the beginning up to Shinbuya is Game of Thrones Seasons 1-4 levels of quality. The Culling Games and most of the Final Arc are Seasons 5-6, flawed and the decline obvious but still decent. Final 5-10 Chapters pretty much Seasons 7-8. Just bad, rushed, nothing resolved and a bad ending that puts a damper on everything that came before.
As far as other Manga Endings go, I much preferred AOTs Ending. Demon Slayer even and now Boku No Hero.
This reminds me of Prison School where by the end the Creator absolutely started hating his own work and purposely sabotaged it. Gege just did the same thing here. The last few chapters were just garbage that went out of their way to not tie up the loose ends and for Gege to just piss on Gojo among other character for some reason. You can just feel and tell Gege stopped loving his work which is a shame because JJK had so much potential that now feels wasted.
Maybe the Anime will expand and fix certain things but for now, the manga is gonna be remembered for having an amazing premise that never quite lived up to its potential.
And I get this isn't the full chapter but a few extra pages isn't gonna save the rest of the bad to mediocre chapters we've gotten the past few weeks. A Tragic Shame. Maybe we'll get a Light Novel or movie sequel to tie things up if the anime doesn't do it but that's just copium at this point from me.
The full ending isn't even out. it's just 6 pages. Chill.
Maybe wait until the chapter is fully out before being a sniveling roach about it?

Only thing I was thinking was… let’s see where this leads. Lead to nowhere. Trash writing
It seems Gege thought the story was over the moment Sukuna was beaten. That was the only thing that mattered and just forget about the rest. However, that ignores A LOT of lore, story threads, characters and themes he included. His attempts to include depth and make the world and events feel big are hollow. He ignores Tengen and much about him, like that "old friend" remark. He says nothing about Yuji and Kenjaku. Really, Kenjaku is built up and then goes flat in the end. His "my will inherited" becoming nothing. You don't even know if he planned anything sneaky against Sukuna or he was really on his side. What was his goal there? That bit of showing Geto/Kenjaku's face covered by the speech bubble being more of a troll and not making sense more than anything. He ignores a lot of the ramifications or positives for cursed users in a world now being aware of cursed energy and how it's affecting Japan and the world. Especially after the USA military invading thing. He ignores the dueling ideologies of cursed users at the top versus eradicating it completely. Yuku and Geto's dreams going nowhere, much like whatever Kenjaku was up to. Megumi's potential is wasted and he's reduced to a princess in a tower plot device for Yuji. Nobara is relegated to a deus ex machina to finish Sukuna at the last minute. There was more of a lasting emotional impact on Yuji at the death of Junpei than Gojo or Choso (no mention of the latter other than an explanation of why he couldn't be saved). Heck, characters are killed off and rarely referenced (outside of Ino keeping Nanami alive). The simple domain thing being singled out as worthy of an entire chapter devoted to it at the end... Pointless in the grand scheme of things. Hyped up Kinji vs Uraume was forgotten till the last minute. So many other things just feel incomplete and tossed aside.
Sukuna was barely a character. He was basically a 2 dimensional big bad. A copy and paste pure evil demon lord for the characters to fight at the end. Everything that felt interesting about him was never expanded on. It's cool if you like him. Even just for the superficial "he's so awesome" because of his design, his evil swagger, and strength, but he's barely a character.
Even the stuff Gege actually tries to pull off with Yuji and the "having people around at the time of death" that was brought in from the first chapter thanks to the grandfather. Pulling that card out with Sukuna and Yuji feeling pity and sympathy for him... That just falls flat with me. Maybe if a backstory had been included with Sukuna. Even if they were horrible, you could still feel a little connection to Hanami and Jogo. They were trying to accomplish something you can understand. Sukuna had ZERO goals other than existing. He had no motives. His "king of curses" was already accomplished when he entered the story. Why did he want to be the king of curses? Eff if I know. He just did it. He was never even that concerned about becoming whole again and was whatever when presented with more fingers. Heck, even him being able to use Fuga, which could out-match Jogo, was another mystery tossed onto Sukuna back in the Shinjuku arc and that goes no where. We don't even learn how Sukuna could out-class a special grade curse based on a fear of the molten destructive power of volcanoes other than "he's super strong".
Heck, would have been nice if we were to understand just how bad it would be if the good guys lost and Sukuna had no one left to stop him. Help me understand the stakes aside from Yuji and a few others just really concerned about saving Megumi more than anything. What would a world with Sukuna at the top of the food chain have been like? I don't really know. I've just been told it would be bad. I've been told that the time when he was at his most powerful was really bad. But I've never been shown. A real problem for a visual format. I get he's malicious, but it also feels like he just keeps to himself for the most part and you only have to worry if you cross paths with him. Again, what was Sukuna's goal? How bad would he have been? At least with a demon lord you are generally told he'll cast the world in darkness, enslave humanity, and/or destroy the world, reducing it to nothingness.
Aside from knowing he's insanely strong and too dangerous to leave alone, I know jack about Sukuna. Nothing about his goals, character, reasons, what made him who he is, how he became so powerful. Why he became powerful. Maybe if we got a glimpse of anything to give Sukuna more depth I might feel differently about this ending, but Gege doesn't appear to. Either he didn't want to spend the time or effort writing and drawing that backstory and just wanted it done, or he didn't want Sukuna to have anything redeemable about him and it's all about Yuji's character (probably a little of both) feeling pity for even the irredeemable, but it just doesn't feel earned or satisfying.
The death of Mahito was more satisfying and he's just as bad as Sukuna. No sympathy there. Yuji would have killed him if Kenjaku hadn't shown up. Hell, they don't even really show Yuji feeling much of anything learning he killed his cursed womb siblings. He just killed them and then met Choso and life moved on. We don't see him feeling anything like remorse or conflict in any significant way. Yuji just feels like showing Sukuna (who he also knows NOTHING about) some pity all of a sudden because they were body-buddies for a few months. In that time Sukuna made his body do HORRIBLE THINGS and then laughs about it as he deliberately makes Yuji behold the destruction.
Shinjuku ring a bell?
Sigh...
Ultimately, there is no real reason for me to re-read or even recommend JJK. You'd get more enjoyment just watching the amazing animated fights from the anime on UA-cam and save yourself hours of time and money picking up the manga or anime to read as a whole. I feel sorry for any Gojo fan, too.
The only part I liked about the leak was the gojo part, I don’t think it’s meant to necessarily be a dis on his character but actually the opposite, simply him being self aware of how others seen him, and it’s obvious how everyone thought he was a tool as after his death everyone we thought he was on good terms with kinda bad mouths him despite how much effort he put into the killing of the strongest curse ever. He really was just seen as a disposable tool even with his great strength(arguably it made him be seen even more as a tool) and when he failed to do the job he just got tossed aside with no regard. I feel like it was a great little side plot that they hinted at when Yuta took over gojos body, Yuta even admits Gojo is seen as a monster, something that’s not human. Gojos character really is super tragic when you think about it and put his personality aside
@@weeabooproductions2196 Maybe. I guess we'll see when the official translation comes out.
I hate the ending so much but 3/10 on the WHOLE story is kinda crazy and I’m gonna assume it’s just partially a reactionary and emotional rating.
Personally I’d give jjk a 5-6/10 in the end because there were some truly peak, unforgettable shounen moments and great art throughout the manga. The fact that the ending was botched that badly is really sad because this series should have ended as an 8/10 overall in most peoples’ eyes.
It’s not terrible, it’s meh. If it was hilariously bad to point it wasn’t taking itself seriously anymore that would probably be a better way to end JJK. That would just shows JJK was evolving with its fanbase. JJK started off with potential but all it became was a sad carcass of untapped greatness.

And people trying to make the argument that the New Gen is better than the old Gen when somebody trying to say to me bleach had a bad and then the author was sick and Shonen Jump was trying to make the story ending because the low sales at least Naruto the end I can give it at list 6/10 and the majority of the story is 8 or 9 jjk literally 5 or 3/10 one piece is still going and will literally after 1,000 chapter we have 10 out of 10 chapters and Demon Slayer is literally carried by the anime Demon Slayer is literally a 6 or five story with 10 out of 10 anime
Let's be honest. Mangakas of Big 3 are crazy. Can't really blame people for not being able to carry the same weight for too long. They should rethink the whole process somehow for it to work.
theres still CSM, which is the same lvl, in terms of writing at least superior to naruto and bleach, and is unique. in terms of writing its one of the greatest of all time, but the sensibility is less open than the big 3. AOT, idk if its new gen or old gen, or both. OPM same thing,
@@madzaisayou are only looking at a few popular ones.
Chainsaw man, dandandan and many other new gens are more innovative, unique and has the same writing level if not better.
AOT is also new gen and it neg old gen shounens in writing lol. 😂
