- Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271 is making the rounds in the Manga Community with it being labeled one of the worst endings in Shonen Jump. However with the full chapter being out and not just leaks. It changed some opinions, but it didn't fix the main issues with the ending. Sukuna the King of Curses got a great conclusion and Gojo in turn got a great moment expanded upon. Anyways there's definitely sequel bait going on with the last page.

Now that the chapter is fully out. It did give Sukuna a great conclusion, but it didn't fix the main problems.

I've seen too many complaints all over social media about this. It's not perfect but this last chapter didn't ruin the series like some people say. And there are some who are being overly aggressive about how much they hate it and honestly it's hilarious. Personally, this is an 8/10 for me. I don't go buy what the "community" says. Those are just folks farming for engagement. Hate me all yall want. I stand by it 🤷🏾♂️
Sorry brother, but I have to disagree on this one. Sukuna had been one way the entire manga, and the author decided to talk no jutsu him into a grey character due to the mc yapping his ears off. This manga has so much potential,and it went down in flames.

To be honest, he was the main premise of this story being a thing. He has two/three arcs with him being the main focus, he was the final boss, and he’s literally technically related to the MC (still think it’s Gojo but I’m coping), Yuji.
1st chapter was called "Ryomen Sukuna" for a reason

I like this new Sukuna stuff, but it would hit better with a backstory. The defense that he was pure evil and didn't need it is now worthless. Especially when Gege wasted an entire chapter with useless lore that no one asked for.
Gege chose to end his series by just adding more extra shit. The Sukuna scene in isolation is cool but it doesn't work when we don't know his context.
Hell, we know nothing about Uraume and now all of this sudden she's this big person in Sukuna's life. Where was this love when Gojo punched her in the gut and he didn't react? It's all so weird.

There will NOT be a JJK sequel if you think that last finger is the indicator you’re wrong
1. This chapter confirms that the last finger is useless it’s like a Christmas decoration, it has no tie to sukunas soul, if you read 268 Megumi stated that if sukuna is defeated by Yuji with the 19 fingers he has already consumed his last finger won’t have enough “pull” to connect his soul to it. Which is what happened
2. This chapter implies sukuna chose a different path reincarnation into a different person so his reincarnated soul will not have no tie to that finger
3. Gege has said how he lost interest in the story, wanted to wrap it up asap and wanted to start his new manga (which is supposed to be an idol manga). Remember how he said JJk was supposed to end last year? Shonen likely saw the boom in popularity and extended his deadline.
If he thinks it's okay to rush a story and then also give us a horrible ending then he better be prepared for his next story to be canceled because no one's watching that garbage.
And also I thought that his health was so bad that he couldn't even continue making the manga now all suddenly he's got the strength to start a whole new manga series. smh.
My friends and I won't be touching anything that is Gege related again.

for 3.Point i agree, for 1.Point you can always throw logic out the window, since unless sukuna himself says that it is like you described (and even then it isnt fixed), there can always be some aspull to make him come back (if needed for a part2). For your 2.Point you can literally make any kind of plot to still revolve around the finger (like this one): he reincarnates and lives differently, BUT somehow gets to the finger and gets his cursed technique and past memories back (just an example).

Honestly I liked the Gojo and Sukuna scenes the most. Sukuna scene was grata cause Mahito came back and pretty much confirmed that Yuji and Gojo won.
Plus the Yuji and Gojo scene was moving cause I think Gojo just knew that Yuji would be the one to beat Sukuna. While also having Yuji and the students carry his legacy.
There parts were the best part but man I think Tengen and Kenjaku were pretty much the Kaguya of the series. As in unimportant and forgettable characters. Pretty much makes there purpose pointless now.

• megumi having no character development because he ended the story exactly the same as he began
• never seeing megumi’s full potential that gojo talked about
• never seeing megumi’s complete domain
• nobara being gone for the majority of the story just to come back at the end when she could’ve been there all along (i get it’s for shock value but it’s a waste of her character)
• random plot lines introduced in the last chapters to make it seem like gege was building up to something
• not one person talking about gojo’s death, no one acting like they cared, no burial shown
• not getting a sukuna backstory whatsoever (and yall “he doesn’t need a backstory” mfs need to stop dickriding bc when have you ever seen a villain not get a backstory)
• wasting the last chapters on culling games characters instead of the students
• no evidence of the cycle being broken because the students are still going on missions anyways
• no real ending to the “optimize vs. eradicate cursed energy” plotline
• kenjaku’s meeting with other countries going nowhere when gege could’ve cooked so hard with that
He legitimately did say Sukuna was his favorite character before Nanami. Then after Nanami been gone for awhile, his love seem to return more to Sukuna.

- it was just used to accelerate the culling game from 2 months to 3 days

I mean it def made it better. It’s not great but the main issue people have with the ending is that it doesn’t wrap up the story nearly. Which is fair, but to me the ending is quite good in what it does wrap up. Which is the defeat of sukuna.
I probably won’t like it if we don’t get a continuation, but for now I’ll wait till we get confirmation of what the next manga will be

My personal one: Maki having infinite plot armour.
Gojo off screened -> He admired and respected by Sukuna.
No gojo body/funeral -> Gojo wanted to be left behind in the past and forgotten, burying his body risks another Kenjaku situation.
Nothing about the Goho/Kamo clans - Literally the only living members of those clans are pretty much the main cast and Kamo's family.
Gojo's final scene is him entrusting his dream and beating Sukuna onto his students, ties his character perfectly up. Being surrounded by his students that love and admire him, and motivating Yuji to change Jujutsu society and the cycle of curses.
No Sukuna Backstory/Heian era. -> Sukuna is an imaginary demon, one of the driving factors of his character is how overwhelming strength, we already know he demolished the heian era and transcended the eons to fight in the present. Which is why the story revolves around him fighting in THIS era. Against Gojo and the others. A flashback would be completely redundant, there not being one doesnt mean the story isnt good.
Merger plot rushed and forgotten -> The Merger didnt happen because the conditions weren't met and Tengen's remnants were being used along side Sukuna's remains to uphold the barriers, meaning that the Merger cannot happen anyway. Kenjaku wanted chaos he could not control after living for 1000 years, and got that chaos he sought after his fight with Takaba.
Kenjaku's end was trash - The tried to plan against him in a fair fight and lost against him. Yuta declared he would kill Kenjaku and went ahead and blizted him, Kenjaku got outplayed simple as that. It's a shame yeah, but he was amazing while in the story.
Multiple characters were treated badly -> Just because a character's end didnt meet YOUR expectations doesnt mean they were wasted, Did you really think Kashimo without a domain could beat Sukuna? Be for fucking real. The author literally plans these characters conclusions out years in advance, Kashimo was always going to die against Sukuna, and he died feeling satisfied. It's the same with Yuki, she lost because tengen fucked up and assumed that Kenjaku's domain wasnt open. An honest mistake, the entire season, Jujustu fights are compared to a conman and not revealing their hand, theres bound to be a major fight where they mess up. Plus Kenjaku had 1000 years experience and multiple techniques. Of course he was always going to win that fight. To say they were wasted would be a disservice to their amazing characters and emotional conclusions.
Nobara coming back -> Was literally foreshadowed. You don't say anything about the Sukuna plot armour, surviving TWO jacob labbers in a single fight. But the one time the heroes get a single bone thrown their way it's "Bad writing."
I can't be arsed responding to all of these fucking comments, but i thought this was a good list of nitpicks that can be easily explained. I reccomend now that the series is finished, reread it all. It'll really do wonders for your opinions and you'll be able to see things clearly. We know theres potential for panel redraws and extra pages in the volume releases, so give it a shot. JJk had a tremendous run and a wonderful human ending.

People in the anime/manga community (especially with shonen) follow the pattern of overhyping something prematurely to crap on other series, the series gets more popular, and if it falls short can turn on it for getting too popular and not living up to expectations. Constant cycle.
@dragonmaster3207 is a partially great story. He missed an epic ending, spent too much time in specific arcs, and created a complicated system of curses that took a lot of time and energy for the readers to stay engaged. He needs to have a fulfilling ending that ties the whole story. He botched it. I think he decided to end the series recently and ignored all the other subplots and unfinished business with all the characters he created. In other words, he was too ambitious mid-series and made a lot of work for himself to end the series. He decided on an easy out on finishing the series. It's Game of Thrones all over again. The same exact thing happened-lazy writing.
I don’t want to say he completely copied other mangaka but he took a *lot* of inspiration clearly from other shounen and put his own nice spin on some of it. Like Sukuna not being another Kurama or Yuji not completely following Talk no Jutsu was cool. But yeah it was still a pretty basic shounen without anything too special
What disappoints me the most about this ending is that Kenjaku and his entire grand plan was completely abandoned after he got defeated in one round with an irrelevant side character. I was fully expecting the final fight to be a team up of Sukuna, Urahime, and Kenjaku vs our heroes. But no, the whole merging humanity with curses plotline just vanished before it concluded.
Kenjaku as a whole was so disappointing. He was a main bad guy, 1 of the two main villains, and his character never went anywhere. There was no arc or development, not even a real conclusion. He concocted a 1000-year plan, just to get killed right before its completion and that's it. Like he moved the story forward, but all he ever did was plan, and then explain said plans to good guys. He's basically a walking plot device lol. Actually, there were a lot of characters like that, like Tengen, literal plot device that never did anything and only existed to explain how certain things in JJK worked.
I'm sure Kenjaku once said that his passion would be inherited and even stated that he was very grateful for being able to fight with the comedian... Isn't this a plot that could be very promising? I mean the comedian still really survives and Kenjaku's dream may still not be completely finished, after all Tengen can still 'rise' through the object of Sukuna's curse!
Man as much as I wanted to see sukuna and uraume's teamwork after gojo's death, adding anyone to sukuna's team is an instant loss for the sorcerers lol. Hell, even by himself he still had multiple ways he could've killed the cast, but well the villain has to die.
But yeah I agree it would've been very cool to see them team up. But gege really wanted to emphasize sukuna as the end all be all. Kenjaku was definitely wasted potential.

Definitely. Kenjaku been defeated. Sukuna lost and changed his way. Mahito probably the only curse coming back but still at this point it will be a spin off instead. Overall the stories done since Gege never gave a crap about Tengen.

Watching your video I realised something to actually be more pissed of because of that ending, Gege until the very end showed how bias he was towards Sukuna giving him a closure way better than Gojo, with Gojo it was "Nah, forget about him", so disrespectful to one of the pillars of the whole serie. If I recall correctly, in the last page says something "look forward for the next work", I say fuck that.
if sukuna was gunna be a good guy/misunderstood character at the end, i wouldve needed to see a flashback showing that sukuna wasnt born evil but was made evil by something or other.
sukuna was stubborn and stuck in his ways until his last breath. he never bent so all he could do was break... yet he never did. it was wrote in last second because gege wanted to make his favourite character look better at the end.

He never break off from his ways at all lol even after in death. All the scene indicated was that he's open to change when he gets his second chance which is why it parallels to Gojo going South(wanting to go back to his past) while Sukuna going North(embracing a new path)

and on the flip side Gojo got blamed for everything by nearly all the surviving cast, even though he trained everyone, fought the hardest for everyone, died for everyone and he didnt even get a funeral.

I mean i think jjk is dogshit but i can't see Gege writing setups at the end for no reason. He probably has zero intrest writing it himself but a different author can get the series as a hand me down. Hell, in the case of Solo Leveling, the sequel not being written by the original author was a huge improvment... it might be the optimal outcome for everyone involved.

Sukuna’s mentally is basically whoever is the strongest earns the right to the correct ideology. Sukuna lost to Yuji so he accepted Yuji’s ideology as the right one since he was the victor. If Sukuna won he would still have the mentality that he should be able to live unrestricted and be able to do whatever he wants.

I absolutely loved the portion between Sukuna and Mahito. I hope we get a light novel about Sukunas past and the hein era, that would be awesome.
A LN Trilogy would be great maybe a quintology like the Bokurano one (the best piece of alternate fiction ever , 80% is the same as the manga and goes more in depth with the same characters and world and 20% is changed but it s mostly about the fights and new characters , fuck the anime though that shit was garbage)

Nah GoT was actually well written in the beginning so it's downfall was painful to watch. This is exactly the kind of lack luster ending I expected from jjk so it's definitely not worse.

I just read the final chapter. Sukuna admitting he became soft because he lost, pretty much wastes what his sidekick said about Sukuna not really losing but more of a product of the era and him having to use a different body. I thought that was actually a pretty cool line or thought to leave us with because it makes us wonder how much of a problem Sukuna could have been in his peak and his own body, but yep it just ruined now.
Gege kept teasing this “peak” jujutsu society just to never show us 🥲

Yuji did not defeat Sukuna by himself, Nobara gave him the opportunity. with the pacing of the story, i dont think you can have an epilogue arc after such a climatic battle. in story writing you typically dont want the ending to drag on too long after the climax of the story, where all the tension is highest. traditionally you would have begun wrapping up loose ends in the build-up to the final battle, ie. the month of training, but gege likely wanted to keep the hype going, so he skipped it.
probably an unpopular opinion but i actually do think the story wrapped up alright. the flashbacks to gojo throughout the final battle, the whole meimei simple domain tangent, was gege essentially saying that battle while battle with curses was inevitable, the rising death rate was due to negligence and bad leadership of the higher ups who sought power struggle via sacrificing the younger gen instead of helping them.
While there were other stuff gege could have spent time going into, it would ultimately drag out the story considerably, but that would mean he would need to work up to another climax to properly send the story off. While a berserk Tengen could have addressed some of the issues like giving megumi a chance to shine, and pay off other story beats, i ultimately dont think it could have built up as much of a hype to the whole Sukuna gauntlet.
Gintama was able to do it by engineering a short revival of the big bad, but in JJK, both Gojo and Sukuna are already "dead" dead.
the other message with gojo was that he and sukuna are the result of relying on unbeatable power, whereas him telling yuji "we dont need another Gojo" was him directing them to rely on other aspects, like empathy. the whole last mission was showing a return to norm, with yuji now relying on empathy and the other teachings of gojo, instead of the power he was known for.
in terms of pacing and ending a story where it needed to end, Gege knocked it out of the park. but in terms of closing off loose ends and bringing closure, there's still a bit more to do (hell, the whole kenjaku silhouette doesnt help with this). but hey, maybe the jjk world isnt supposed to have a fairytale end, with how often things just go wrong.
Sukuna did say to Yarozu that if he loses he would give her everything so even though he didn't out right say it to Yuji I'm pretty sure the same applies. He lost so he's giving in to Yujis mentality and way of life.

At the end of the chapter, there’s a small grave/shrine with one of Sukuna’s fingers. Whatever happened to the rest of the 19 of Sukuna’s fingers? I don’t know if I missed something but did they just vanish after Yuji and company finally defeated and killed Sukuna? That doesn’t make sense because I thought Sukuna’s fingers were indestructible unable to be destroyed through physical force or cursed energy attacks. Sure I understand the fingers can be damaged by a soul-based attack from Nobara’s Soul Resonance attack but not other physical attacks. Or are the 19 fingers sealed somewhere else?

I don't understand why people think Kenjaku is back? That scene in the last chapter was clearly cutting to little bits from different Culling Games players and what's happening to them, and Takaba's Cursed Technique literally shapes reality to his will. The text boxes covering "Kenjaku"'s face are a gag. In literally any story that wasn't a Shonen, people would have no problem with this, but I guess because Gege went into so much detail about some things, people assume he must go into that much detail about everything in the story?
Perhaps if JJK was in a different magazine or even a seinen, then Gege would've been allowed to have Sukuna win. Almost every shounen I know of the last 40 years in Weekly Shounen Jump has to have the MC or protagonist group win. The only time the MC loses is if they become the antagonist, like in Death Note or they pass on their will to the next generation/the fight continues beyond the MC, like on Jojos.

It's clear gege focused on Sukuna for the finale. So he concluded the vilan Sukuna and the Heroes. The thing is, we never had really much context on kenjaku's plan. Kenjaku started his plan 1000 years ago, when Sukuna was alive. If we're correct Sukuna divided himself to wait 1000 years cause he was bored, he had beaten everyone, in that way, he could be writen as the only true vilan of the story, and the ending makes sense. But we didnt get to see that... we saw too much kenjaku that we tought of him as a mastermind, but the fact the modern sorceres beat the strongest curse from the past defeats his plan also of bringing everyone in the present to get rid of non-sorceres humans and evolve cursed energy. I think its a good ending because leaving just this for interpretation can leave an opening for a sequeal without making it necessary. I was talking about this with my friend, and he noted that we saw little interaction between sukuna and kenjaku to really know the relation and they were soon cooperating.
Maybe people are forgetting that Ryomen Sukuna is actually a Mythological character in Japan. So, the last finger being inside the shrine is actually the place where it belongs. Also, prior to this Sukuna's fingers were not made to public as it was considered as a special grade object but now that only one finger is left and the room for Sukuna's return is slim, I think his finger being placed inside the shrine sends a better message to his character.
After reading the scan of the final chapter 7/10 ending. Decent ending. My main goober trio loves, gojo passes the torch to Yuji to guide the new age of sorcerers, and sakuna decides to not become a curse again if he reincarnates. Mildly satisfying if you ask me. The leaks did the finale dirty
However, what is unique is that Gege still seems to give hope if a cliffhanger ending like this actually implies his own personal desire because... you know the potentials and opportunities of JJK is actually more than this!

I find it funny how on one side you have the Gege Glazers insisting that the ending is perfect and on the other the Gege Haters who say that this is the worst ending in shounen history.
I personally am right in the middle, there were a lot of things that I liked and a lot of things that I didn't like in this ending and for me it's a 5/10 that could have been a 7/10 if it weren't for the amount of filler that these last 5 chapters had.

I didn’t really see this as Sukuna changing his ways to be honest. He’s stayed pretty consistent. I don’t associate this with Yuji getting through to him either as a lot of people are saying. Sukuna as a person has always taken his life as pretty chill. He’s said himself on multiple occasions that he knows what loves is and even with this one he knew there were other paths to take he simply didn’t and couldn’t take them as he was because he hadn’t lost yet, he hadn’t been proven wrong yet. Now that he has he can choose one of the two paths that was presented to him the whole time, which was Uraume. Took his loss in stride and decided to go North. Makes me take Gojo’s words to Geto differently. Still makes me pissed off it was Sukuna, the VILLAIN showed more regard and respect to Gojo than the characters themselves and the damn author 😭 but anyways I enjoyed his ending as a character if nothing else about this series

Imma cut Gege some slack. Even though there are many plot holes in the series, he might not have intended to wrap it up like this (even if his writing decisions are 50/50). I'm not saying it was a great ending (like I said, poor writing decisions), but I'm not gonna hold it against him if he makes another series.
Overall, I'd give this series a 6 or 7/10, some of Gege's writing skills are pretty decent (particularly Hidden Inventory and Shibuya Incident), even if they can get iffy at times and the ending being a leaving some stuff out. For his first manga published weekly, he did pretty okay for a bit.
My feelings towards the ending are similar towards Yu Yu Hakusho's ending (granted, not as many plot holes as JJK). Other than a little tweaking to the ending, the main issue I have about the endings was what led up to them rather than the endings themselves. With a few adjustments to the final arc, the endings wouldn't be criticized as much with a little tweaking (ok, a bit more for JJK, but you get the comparison).
Those are my thoughts. I'm ngl, I'm gonna miss catching up weekly and the Lobotomy Kaisen memes, definitely a fun experience.

There’s not gonna be a part 2. Based on what Sukuna said to Mahito he’s officially done, the finger is confirmed to no longer hold a piece of Sukunas soul it’s basically a paperweight. Also Gege is definitely done with JJK based on how he’s been writing it up to this point post Gojo dying. The finger in the shrine is more so a memento and call back to the beginning of JJK it’s nothing deeper. Let it go y’all. There will be other series you can latch onto in your lifetime. No need to cope anymore.
