Hi there...my first time watching you. Of course subscribed. I was surprised that you didnt go into the history of Uranium glass, with the Kellogs green measuring cup. I only, a few years ago, discovered that this common green depression glass contained uranium and glows under a black light. I now have many pieces and display them with a black light. I understand they quit making this glass, because the uranium was needed for the war effort. Do you know anymore about this beautiful glass?
I can tell you more about your specific pieces. You can show them to me during a video call or send me photos. All details on my website. Of course at events like in this video, I only have so much time on stage :)
Dr. Lori, I am with you on the skim milk. I have found I can drink 2% and it doesn't taste like skim. When I was a kid, sometimes when the whole milk wasn't so cold, my mother put ice cubes in it. I figured years later when I tried skim milk, that ice cubes tasted pretty much the same. I will never have any ice cubes in any milk at my house. Years ago, they interviewed Joan Collins. She said that she drinks regular sodas and not diet. Her reason? She had never seen anyone skinny drink diet soda, and so she went with the regular, lol! I love that someone found the Roman glass. What a miracle that it survived all that time. The $1,000 price tag was a surprise, but what a miracle that piece of glass is, and how wonderful that you know what it is. I have a very heavy punch bowl that is similar to the punch bowl you appraised, but I don't know if it's real crystal. Like I've heard you say, the punch bowls have fallen out of favor. It's okay if the one you appraised sits around looking pretty anyway. Punch bowls are so under-valued right now.I belong to a glass group on Facebook, and people seem to avoid buying the punch bowls. I know I'm going to come ot one of your shows. I just haven't decided what to bring with me yet. I am still planning on a painting that I have. It will be a teaching moment when that time comes.
@@DrLoriV that sounds promising! On eBay, punch bowls listed go page and page and the prices have been outright depressing. The ones that do best are from the major glass makers, and special treatments with the glass (carnival, different colors).

When I was in my early 20's I got a Pyrex green measuring cup of an unusually small size; I wanna say 3/4 cup or maybe only 1/2 cup, and the most beauuuutiful shade of green. Then like an idiot I tried to warm some pancake syrup in it, on the stove top. I guess I thought ALL Pyrex was impervious to heat, and I had the fire down really low, but in a matter of seconds it just exploded! I was standing right over it but luckily must have blinked that very second because my upper eyelid caught a shard.

Roman???? And I was impressed when I seen in Germany at a museum. This is why glass & ceramics so fascinate me - how something that is so breakable survives by chance and it somehow makes the people of the distant past seem more real - in that they needed to store oil & that they used glass for well I was going to say ordinary but I doubt it was the ordinary foot soldier who had that olive oil with him.

I’m ready to let go of many of them but even if I learn a valuation for a given piece, I have no idea where to try to sell it. Not sure who’s buying vintage and antique pieces these days. Anyone?
Welcome! Thanks for watching. Have you watched my videos yet that focus on reselling? Have you read my articles yet on my website at www.DrLoriV.com where I talk about reselling? I also offer classes on reselling.
I would love to find some carnival glass.
You're sooo awesome Dr. LOri. TFS!
Happy to hear you enjoy the vid
👏
Thanks for sharing. I'm seeing a lot of action with punch bowls.
@@DrLoriV that sounds promising! On eBay, punch bowls listed go page and page and the prices have been outright depressing. The ones that do best are from the major glass makers, and special treatments with the glass (carnival, different colors).
@@Laurieb2851 Bargains can be found on eBay just like at a thrift store. Have you watched my video about the $60,000 bottle mistake on eBay? Check it out at ua-cam.com/video/EJDKFU2m_hw/v-deo.html

.. wow!!
I've become obsessed with china. Thanks for the tips!
Could you talk about the difference in swung vases and the makers? I know they're not always worth a lot but I think they're cool.
Thanks for the suggestion. We are always working on new videos.

Love you and your pod casts. You are delightful.
Thank you so much!
I just got 8 Longchanp 24% lead crystal 1-1/2 ounce for $4. Thanks Doc Lori I got it at the Good will I should make $40. I'm hopeful
Plus. I got a mug Capricorn for 50 cent. It sells for 14$ you just told me this earlier in your show.im learning.
Great! I help a lot of people make money.
Dr. Lori, your UA-cam channel is the best! 👍👍 Your video are awesome! I’m always learning something new! ❤️ And I’m always laughing as well 😁😄 My friend is going to see your Antiques appraisal comedy show next month. The location is Indianapolis, IN. She is lucky, because I have to wait a few extra months, until your show will be in my city! Can’t wait to see you there! Thank you! 🙏
Thanks and happy to hear you are learning!! Hope to see you soon. Which city will I see you?
Dr. Lori Thank you for your answer! It’s not going to be exactly in my city, I apologize, I wanted say a state, not a city. We have to drive to the small town called Humble, it’s in the TX. There will take a place your antique show. I hope we will be able to attend this event! 🙂🙂
@@the-scorpio Yes, hope to see you in March just outside of Houston. Please say hi and we'll take pic together :)
Dr. Lori Yay! 😀😀 Thank you!

Welcome! Keep checking my schedule for new dates in Southern CA! Thanks for watching!
Dr Lori is savage love the attitude 😎
I'd call her a bully? But ok ? I feel most people laugh when she says something mostly due to because she makes them feel uncomfortable or nervous
Thank you Dr Laurie. Hope I spelt your name correctly. Love you channel.
Gid bless
I like whole milk too, with a big glop of heavy cream added! Lol!
Are you near a hospital when you do that? :)
