@The Lich's Laboratory On your spear conversion, you mention your concerns for your spiky bitz. I've noticed something fun that may help with heavily converted weapons! Whenever I'm cutting weapon shafts and blades I look for places Purity Seals could go. They help hide my sins and poorly carved plastic can be covered by sprue-goo. The plastic glue bond of the purity seal crossing the cut components has worked well for plastic kits. The next level of this is strips of metal, or greenstuff as purity seals in cases where resin, metal or random bitz are used in kitbashing. You may be surprised how effective a cut soda can wrinkles up and layered with liquid greenstuff can be painted up as a purity seal!
I've seen people use tin or copper strips for purity seals but I never considered soda cans 🤯 With how much Coke Zero I drink just to stay awake daily you figured I'd have had that revelation by now lmao
Adamantine was a magical super metal that Plato claimed Atlantis used and was the source of their military power. Sometime later, Adamantium was coined as a fun little reference to that, and everyone's been too lazy to come up with something else since.
I think that was Orichalcum actually. (which may have just been bronze) I might be wrong, but I think in ancient Greek Adamant is sort of an archaic word for Diamond. Latin sort of dropped the 'A' at the beginning and the 'T' at the end and used 'diamas', then french put the 't' back on the end for their 'diamant' and by the time it made it into English we just capped both sides with a D for Diamond. I mean, we even spell it with an O but still pronounce it with the 'a'. History and linguistic drift is a bitch like that sometimes. ...Somewhere along the way the old word got confused for lodestone and then brought back by WWII and marvel comics. For real, Let me know if im wrong though, always up to learn new history facts.
i really like to see obscure chapters getting fleshed out like that. Would you also considering a video or two on homebrew chapters? maybe even turn it into a community thing like pete used to do.

Until you got to the Ashen Claws part, I thought that was a model from Tortuga. Excellent work! As for Tortuga Bays, they do still send out models, even with the war. Theyre the size of primaris, while their terminators are even bigger, and this is for every mark of armor. I highly recommend their stuff
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to doing more of these for sure, just gotta clear the video schedule a little before the holidays lol
Thank you! I definitely need to try the proper mixture one day. As for the straps I think pure green stuff wasn't the right move there as you can see some portions where the line imprints are a bit rounded. I think a green stuff+Milliput combo and a sharper knife would've gotten me cleaner edges. Or waiting till it was harder/using a harder epoxy then carving the lines in when it was cured, maybe filing them in with a triangle file even. It's a minor issues but it's worth passing on the knowledge to whoever happens to read this who it helps
Just started watching, I never realized how messed up the perspective was on the picture at 3:19. Fulgrim and Manus are like 5 or 6 storeys tall (like, the land speeder is about the length of Manus' wrench…)
"...using this recast mark 3 I have. Wait, where did I get this from, wtf?" WOW that whole part was almost exactly what I said when I found a mark 3 and converted it into a chaoter master a few years back lmao.

Wow, bro! What an amazing vid! Thanks for bringing some of the successor chapters to life! Now that I’m 40, I’m making a comeback into Warhammer since first edition. A lot has changed, but I’m still really identifying with chaos space marines, space, marine successor chapters (you know, the eclectic, lesser known badasses of the galaxy) and Eldar. I’m looking at a lot of conversion and painting videos since I’m still a total noob, and I really appreciate the time and depth you brought into this video. I’m a new subscriber to the channel, but I would love to see a video if you have different space marine squadrons, representing all of the different armor mark/types! Or any other videos exploring the lesser known Eldar craft worlds!
Howdy! Welcome back to the hobby and thank you for subbing! Sounds like your tastes line up with mine lol. Obscure Eldar factions (that aren't Exodites) are something I definitely want to crack into more but material on them is a bit more scarce. I'm working on it though! 😁

I really love what you're doing here, the informative format of your videos is awesome. Genuinely learned about some chapters I had no clue about (albeit I have a filthy xenos playing mind)
Love that you do Successor chapters, I've been looking into to doing Atlantian Spears for my BA army, I fell in love with with the brief lore they have and their colors.
I very much enjoyed painting Atlantian Spears for my "Tyrannic War Veterans" video! They have a very aesthetic color scheme that looks nice and classy😎
Agreed, glad I saw that vid of yours, I was just shocked you said they were a BA successor chapter and I immediately looked them up and I love their colors for their ranks, either gold helmets, or black, or black and gold, it's just so nice compared to the constant red, black, and white I use for my BA. @@TheLichsLaboratory
I love what you did with the spear's blade, I've been getting back into painting after years of not doing it, so I'll be thinking about that when it's time to paint a power weapon.
Adamantium is derived from the word Adamant, which in addition to its modern linguistic usage was used in history to refer to a mythical unbreakable rock (or lodestones for some reason), and may have been used to refer to diamonds. Adamantium is just taking the word and adding the -ium suffix to it to denote a metal (like aluminium, potassium, lithium, beryllium, uranium, plutonium, etc.), which was coined by Marvel writers. Note that the original writers of Rogue Trader were nerds who liked Marvel comics, and a smattering of other fiction. I believe D&D used to use the term Adamantium as well before copyright got in the way, then needed to rename it to 'Adamantine', which does have more historical and mythological usage--I could be mistaken about that one.
Enjoyable vid, I like the conversions. Oh something that might help, when you mentioned Marine Juice! A while ago I started making a medium like that of Contrast Medium but, far cheaper in the long run. Its an 80% distilled water to 20% Satin Glazing Liquid (I got the golden one), in my local area most of the hobby shops closed down while the initial buy might be slightly more expensive you'll be able to make tons of the stuff. Hopefully that proves useful to anyone doing the hobby on a budget.
I intentionally like to be vague on paint names specifically so people don't feel constrained to one brand or shade of paint. That way if I say "red" for example, people can just pick out their favorite red or a red they already have. If it helps, most of my painting uses the Vallejo range, although I use some GW paints and various brands of washes, but I can give you specifics for what I used on a particular model?
@TheLichsLaboratory well just saying dark grey isn't great cause there's a million different dark greys of various shades and it just feels better when you say the kind you used in case I ever wanted to buy the same kind
For the dragonspears, you nailed the colour scheme - I've managed to find the same one when I was painting - and for sourcing spears, I have found the Vindictors from Age of Sigmar to be a good source (and currently plentiful as they're in all the starter kits)
@@TheLichsLaboratory I've ended up trimming down the spikes and symbols on them, and I used them for custom bladeguard and it's worked out really well!
Where are we going? Do I have time to grab a snack before we go? Should I pack a bag? Are we driving or flying? What's the weather like where we land? Are we renting a car or is someone picking us up? How long are we gonna be gone? What's there to do in the area? Are we meeting family? But really, glad you're excited lol
I KNOW man, I really like it! Blue is not one of my preferred colors these days as I usually jump straight to very saturated blues, but I forgot how nice the desaturated blues can really be! It's nice to reintroduce yourself to a color and grow a new appreciation for it 😁
If I ever get to redoing some of these models over this series in a "second chance" sort of video, the Necropolis Hawk is definitely first on the chopping block lmao
Love me some cannibalistic loyalists! The mortifactors are my favorite chapter, though I think they tend to just eat regular folks instead of their own battle brothers. Thats gotta be good eats though!
adamantium in 4Ok is a metal alloy, a substance that combines more than one metal or mixes a metal with other non-metallic elements, it has a colour like metal has but by adding certain elements into the alloy you can basically make it all sorts of metallic colours, the are is simply incorrect and thats just a bone there because of the rule of looking cool. ceramiteis like a ceramic material ( hence the name ceramite ) much like modern ablative armour plates on a tank just way better. hence why it looks like marble or stone when it chips and cracks, its forged in a furnace in a mould like normal modern ceramic's , this also means armour artificers 1st have to make a armour design in something like clay to make the mould 1st to cast the ceramite.
16:26 I can't remember the name of this anime, but I loved it as a kid. The Astartes fan film reminded me a lot of it, and I'd love to see more manga &anime influences in Warhammer media. the dragon spears really reminded me of the squad in that fan film as well, that steely color

MkII Beetle borgs helment with something out of the bits box for a horn might be a slightly easier conversion, but Im probably just gonna have to nut up and green stuff out the bug eyes and mandible for a mkVII conversion + a scarf.
Thanks for the feed back, I appreciate it.
@@blackwolf671 Any time chief. I'm glad I could help out at least a little 😁
“I didn’t film that, so get fd nerds” instantly hit subscribe hahahahaha
Now you make me want to make MacGyver marines because I don't know who Guyver is but I know who MacGyver is.
I highly reccommend reading/watching some Guyver 👀 If you don't you'll just have Mac Marines to fight against the dreaded Windows Dynasty and Hive Fleet Linux 😏
Alternatively McMarines, defenders of the Golden Arches 😂
Wow great video. Great sense of humour, nice mix of painting and lore, no boring monologuing into a camera. Awesome, subscribed.
Thank you very much friend! 😁
@The Lich's Laboratory
On your spear conversion, you mention your concerns for your spiky bitz.
I've seen people use tin or copper strips for purity seals but I never considered soda cans 🤯
With how much Coke Zero I drink just to stay awake daily you figured I'd have had that revelation by now lmao
These videos are so much effort! I love you work so much, it doubles both as a lore video and a hobby vid
Greatly appreciated friend! I'm thankful for your kind words and support 😎
Adamantine was a magical super metal that Plato claimed Atlantis used and was the source of their military power. Sometime later, Adamantium was coined as a fun little reference to that, and everyone's been too lazy to come up with something else since.
Interesting! Wonder why he didn't go with Atlantium or something. Maybe a bit too on the nose? lol 🤔
I think that was Orichalcum actually. (which may have just been bronze)
I might be wrong, but I think in ancient Greek Adamant is sort of an archaic word for Diamond.
I've definitely got community plans in mind, but sadly I am but one man. My fleshy fat sausage fingers can regrettably only work on one or two things at a time but don't worry! Something will come of it 👀
I'd fucking kill for some Doc Oc robo arms or something. Or to be Goro, that shit'd be awesome
I, an ork player, went down any absolute rabbit hole with custom space marine chapters over the past few days.
I made my marine successors of the Iron Lord specifically. They popped up while I was taking a break from putting together my over the top lore doco
BIG RED PANTS GANG RISE UP
@@TheLichsLaboratory Is both chapters sharing pants worth the blue jeans jokes though 🤔
Being mistaken for an actual kit is very high praise 🥰 Thank you friend. Been meaning to order from them but I never got around to it 😅
That Mk2 scultping looks freaking insane! Awesome work, deffo given me a reason to bust out the milliput/green stuff.
Loved the video!
Glad you liked it man!
I love the Dragonspears mini!
the color you used looks very nice, and it is easy on the eye if a whole army was made of them.
Thank you! And I'd agree, I'd love to see a whole army in a soft color like this 😁
The Death Of Antagonis was the first 40k book I ever read, glad to see the Black Dragons get some love.
Hope I did them justice mate 😎
@@TheLichsLaboratory you most certainly did!
This was an awesome video, been a long while since i enjoyed a video this much. Obscure cool lore, great conversion and painting, 10/10.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to doing more of these for sure, just gotta clear the video schedule a little before the holidays lol
big lesson of the day: study up on marine juice
But I love the sculpted on straps for the jump pack that you pulled off.
Picture ruined forever irreparably. I was content to live in ignorance but the burden of truth has been thrust upon me 😔
I love the format and attention to lesser known chapters. Keep up the good work
Thanks chief! And don't worry, I may do other things occasionally but I've got enough material to last me till next Christmas. Stay tuned 😁
They look frickin awesome! Very difficult to pick a favourite! Great work
Thank you very much!
Honestly don't understand how you don't have more recognition by now. This is beautiful work! Instant sub! :)
Thank you! Just waiting patiently for the algorithm to bless me 🙏
You’re on the way! Soon!
👍👍 these are awesome! I love the crafting that went into these, the very cool research and interpretation of the references, and the lore 😃👌!
Glad you liked it man, thank you! 😁
Love the video. Just the perfect amount of hobby and wise assery.
Thank you! I like being a wise ass online so I cant get slapped 😏

"...using this recast mark 3 I have. Wait, where did I get this from, wtf?"
WOW that whole part was almost exactly what I said when I found a mark 3 and converted it into a chaoter master a few years back lmao.
Maybe it's a universal phenomenon, random Mk3 bits just materializing from the warp 😅
Hornium should be fashioned into a polearm....Something with a longer "Shaft"
👀
Bro.. Nice video!! Lore + kitbashing!! This is what we need!! Thanks!!
Glad you like it man! 😎👍
Idk when I subbed but crazy to see your past few vids have such good success! Glad the machine spirit of the algorithm is with you
I'm very happy as well! Being able to meet and entertain a bigger audience is very satisfying, even if answering comments is taking longer and longer 😅
I hope the next few videos don't throw the groove off too much but they're projects that have been scheduled and postponed for way too long. I'd feel much better actually getting them out to the ones who have been so patient before doing another obscure lore video
YESSS I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS
edit: amazing work on that mark 2 sculpting, it totally looks like an actual model!
Thanks a ton man! The Mk2 seems to be popular and I'm glad lol. It definitely was the most time consuming part of what was SUPPOSED to be a fast project 😅
@@TheLichsLaboratory yeah, getting carried away is a big issue for me too! The other day I spent a couple hours converting a primaris bolt rifle into a shotgun by carefully scraping around the grip to make it a pump grip and sculpted in the track for it... Super tedious
This was really neat man I really like the optimas prime marine 😂
Oh shit he do look kinda like Optimus 😂
@@TheLichsLaboratory 🤣 that color scheme really works though 👍
You had me completely fooled with the thumbnail, I really thought it was a forgeworld MKII you used on the ashen claws, amazing conversion job holy hell!
Thank you friend! I'm quite proud of that sculpting job 😁
Your videos are really great, I got good tips this week, gonna buy myself the first army and paint them as Lamenters. Gonna buy a recast
Great choice! Lamenters are my official BA successors of choice to a ride-or-die degree 😁
If you're not gonna use a straight yellow spray can, prime them white, then use that Bad Moon Yellow or Imperial Fist to get a really nice and bright yellow. Drybrush them with a tan and give them a diluted brown wash and you've got some quick and easy yellow power armor mate! Best of luck to you! 😎👍
@@TheLichsLaboratory Thanks for the response, never thought to use a spray can. Do not wanna easy ways
@@TheLichsLaboratory edited the above post to make it actually comprehendable…(f ing iPhone talk to text sucks donkey ballz)

Thank you very much! I'd love to be able to entertain a larger audience but I certainly don't take my current watchers for granted. And I'm glad you enjoy my narration! I'm certainly nowhere near as articulate in casual conversation so I'll take what I can get 😅
Fantastic Black Dragon build! Ive been meaning to revamp mine with bone blades myself.

Thanks chief, glad you like it 😎👍 Thanks for the support
Love the videos man, keep them coming
Glad you like them! 😊

Necropolis Hawks looked like Optimus Prime till the yellow was added.
Love seeing the Salamanders successors get some attention! I'm working on some Black Vipers myself 😄
Very nice! Would love to cover them myself someday
@TheLichsLaboratory I'd love it if there's more lore for them this edition but I'm not holding my breath 😕
Still one of my favourite videos ever
Thanks 😳👉👈
Enjoyable vid, I like the conversions. Oh something that might help, when you mentioned Marine Juice! A while ago I started making a medium like that of Contrast Medium but, far cheaper in the long run. Its an 80% distilled water to 20% Satin Glazing Liquid (I got the golden one), in my local area most of the hobby shops closed down while the initial buy might be slightly more expensive you'll be able to make tons of the stuff. Hopefully that proves useful to anyone doing the hobby on a budget.
Can you tell us what Paints you use instead of just saying the color, it helps more when figuring out how to paint them are selves
Ah yeah they do look to be some pretty solid spears to use. Interesting but not super ornamental for rank-and-file guys. Good to know, thanks chief 👍
@@TheLichsLaboratory I've ended up trimming down the spikes and symbols on them, and I used them for custom bladeguard and it's worked out really well!

Dragonspears looking good in that shade!
I KNOW man, I really like it! Blue is not one of my preferred colors these days as I usually jump straight to very saturated blues, but I forgot how nice the desaturated blues can really be! It's nice to reintroduce yourself to a color and grow a new appreciation for it 😁
On the necropolis hawk I think if you had added a bit of purple to your blue you would have hit the nail on the head with the color.
If I ever get to redoing some of these models over this series in a "second chance" sort of video, the Necropolis Hawk is definitely first on the chopping block lmao
I love this format!
Thank you! It seems to be pretty popular 😅
Dope work all around man, I wish I could sculpt anything yet alone half the stuff you did. Looks really dope!
Thank you friend! Sculpting can be intimidating but it's very rewarding. Practice makes perfect!

Love me some cannibalistic loyalists! The mortifactors are my favorite chapter, though I think they tend to just eat regular folks instead of their own battle brothers. Thats gotta be good eats though!
Human meat tastes like gamey pork. That's what I've heard at least 😶
I love watching someone paint obscure marines

adamantium in 4Ok is a metal alloy, a substance that combines more than one metal or mixes a metal with other non-metallic elements, it has a colour like metal has but by adding certain elements into the alloy you can basically make it all sorts of metallic colours, the are is simply incorrect and thats just a bone there because of the rule of looking cool.
ceramiteis like a ceramic material ( hence the name ceramite ) much like modern ablative armour plates on a tank just way better. hence why it looks like marble or stone when it chips and cracks, its forged in a furnace in a mould like normal modern ceramic's , this also means armour artificers 1st have to make a armour design in something like clay to make the mould 1st to cast the ceramite.
Very insightful! Thank you for that 👀
