I personally think that maybe the old man in the camper is actually the boy who survived from the very first Visitor game! That would explain how he was so quick in killing the alien, and how he looked so concerned. He's just waiting for another attack. That might also explain why he's so depressed and (more or less) alone.

It's possible that alien used spider venom instead of scorpion venom since weaker spider venom paralizes the victim like flies so spider can get it into cocoone and consume it later or that scorpion have nonlethal venom like strip tailed ones.
We can see that it kills the lady but we don't know whether the venoms from poisonous fart and sting are lethal separately or not.
So what I am saying is the dog could be still alive, yes the dog would probably die of hunger or bleed out because of cocoone but it is healthy and strong dog , therefore this dog could possibly free itself from cocoone and heal up back , then possibly be eaten by alien.
But still , dog could run off and set alien on fire since alien could chase after the dog.
Fire wouldn't do much other than distract the alien enough for dog to escape.
Alien itself would die.
Why?
( _Cause it hurt the doggo_ ) Cause if you look at the apperance of the guy there you can see he is the guy that killed the first alien.
He is depressed since all his family died and always ready for next attack , that's why he has a knife always near.
And so he probably had a back up plan like a ( _woman with a gun since he killed last one with a gun_ ) nuclear bomb ready to be used.

One thing I find interesting about this series is that, in the later games, it becomes apparent that the reason you can manipulate objects is because the Death Slug has telekinesis. So, the good ending in the first game is effectively the Visitor committing suicide.

the visitor, as I found out, comes from a different game series called the several journeys of reemus, a mideval point and click adventure style game, in that game, the visitors are called Death slugs and are the cause of a plague that has left a good portion of the land abandoned. you assume the role of Reemus, an expert exterminator with his friend... I forgot his name tbh. anyways, the series, as near as I can tell, has not been finished, but it seems eventually, it will

Either way, this horror game is a new idea and I find the creatures to be kind of interesting and a would be tough adversary in a more evolved state like the final one in the second game.
