Nostalgia at its peak. I remember playing Road of The Dead on my Dad's Laptop, my Dad wouldn't let me download anything on his laptop so all the games that I played were mostly Flash Online Games. Ah, the good old days.
That was the nice part of flash was not having to download a bunch of stuff and having to worry so much about memory space. Nowadays most people can't even play warzone because it requires a Tb+ of space to download and most consoles don't even have that 😂

I think what this game does so well is it manages to cram everything in perfectly. The story's not told through cut scenes (except for the intro and ending) it's told WHILE you're playing, and nothing interrupts your playing. And what you're playing feels fast and hectic but also totally fair and totally within your control if you know what you're doing. There's like, very little I can think of that stops the game from being engaging! The pacing's really good too. Feels like everything they could have thought have to have as a mechanic was introduced at a good pace: spike traps, explosive charge traps, helicopters, military using different tactics, enhanced infected, etc, on top of all the stuff at the beginning. It's a small experience but it feels perfect for what it is.

The logic is that he is somehow thinking forward and planning his route before he actually goes out. I assume this because of what he says after you die.
so, as to why you can upgrade your car after dying. It's because every time you die, it's actually just John's foresight. He starts with a stock mustang and begins to think how long the highway is, how many wreckages he'll encounter, how much he'll be slowed down by running over infected, how many will try to cling onto his car. So after every prediction he upgrades the car, suits up with armor and gets a handgun. That's why when you die he then says "that's not gonna work, gotta do this and that"

That’s a nice game with a very nice story happening with the game. Particularly good, especially for a flash game. IMO, you can play the sequel. It would be fun to watch.

well to be fair, they arent really that prepared for zombie invasions, even full kevlar armor cant stop a zombie bite, medieval armies would make much better anti-zombie armies, plus the speed of the infection is REALLY fast, so officers and generals would be constantly under pressure, tho the military IS still referred as weak in most zombie apocalypse games / movies, and i seriously think they should be more glorified / stronger
The way the stronger ones just stare you down just makes them seem a lot more scary. It's like when they get right in front of your car you stare them down as you approach them.
All zombie types explained: Normal zombies: Normal human beings who have turned into zombies from the disease. Easiest to kill. Brutes:Stronger human beings which shows some types of mutation. Harder to kill and can take more damage. Zombie soldiers:Military personell who have became zombies after they were overrun in the checkpoints. Hardest to kill because of there helmet and bulletproof vest. Ravagers:Named that because of there appearance. People who were murdered, devoured, then turned into zombies. You can see it because there organs are showing. Mutants and alpha mutants:One of the strongest zombies in the road of the dead universe. Unknown how they were created, but a military personnel claimed that he saw a normal zombie tear off there skin, devour it, and thats how they were made. I am not completely sure how they are made, but they have a dark red skull to see the difference between them.

well to be fair, they arent really that prepared for zombie invasions, even full kevlar armor cant stop a zombie bite, medieval armies would make much better anti-zombie armies, plus the speed of the infection is REALLY fast, so officers and generals would be constantly under pressure, tho the military IS still referred as weak in most zombie apocalypse games / movies, and i seriously think they should be more glorified / stronger

define "newgrounds quality", because this is way better than a lot of the stuff I've seen on steam (and it's from 2010)
All zombie types explained:
Normal zombies: Normal human beings who have turned into zombies from the disease. Easiest to kill.
Brutes:Stronger human beings which shows some types of mutation. Harder to kill and can take more damage.
Zombie soldiers:Military personell who have became zombies after they were overrun in the checkpoints. Hardest to kill because of there helmet and bulletproof vest.
Ravagers:Named that because of there appearance. People who were murdered, devoured, then turned into zombies. You can see it because there organs are showing.
Mutants and alpha mutants:One of the strongest zombies in the road of the dead universe. Unknown how they were created, but a military personnel claimed that he saw a normal zombie tear off there skin, devour it, and thats how they were made.

Edit:I forgot to mention the alpha mutants. I am not completely sure how they are made, but they have a dark red skull to see the difference between them.
