I wish there was a kalimba where it's a little less difficult to do that, because yknow some songs are fast and you cant keep moving back and forth, honestly wish you could lift your fingers on the back instead
Good afternoon, I want to ask you - do you need to learn the full musical notation (also solfeggio) to play the kalimba, is it enough just to study the notes and how they are depicted on the kalimba keys?
Hello. I don't believe you need to learn full musical notation to play kalimba. As long as you have some basic understanding of notes and music, the kalimba is pretty easy to learn.
“Move thumb in and out of main sound hole”
Me: *sighs and checks comments*
*cries in acrylic kalimba*
*muffled cries in upper tine of a hollow kalimba*
Just shake the Kalimba after you play a note
NOTE!!: for those with acrylic or flatboard kalimbas, you need to shake the kalimba up and down.
can confirm this is a valid piece of advice
@@KalimbaCam thank you!
Sounds really great.
👍
My kalimba is acrylic and it doesn’t have any sound holes :(
I always buy wooden body instrument what ever its , both my kalimba and ukulele has Mahagony body
Try shaking it up and down, it will create a vibrato effect
@@vallierina Okay, thanks!
Same:(
Than sake it
Now I know! I had been wobbling my fingers back and forth on the back two holes. Never thought of using the front hole ha ha !!
Glad the video helped you out :)
Sweet! Thank you 😎👍

Wow
Wondering if this would work with quokka tunes kalimba?
I have to use my ring fingers, my thumbs are very short ;_;
My kalimba has a design on the sound whole so I can't do this.. oof . The sound whole is made to look like a planet with a ring around it..
That sucks. Have you tried doing it anyway? I have a kalimba with a reindeer sound hole and it still works with this effect.
@@KalimbaCam yea I have lol, I have back holes on mine so I did it by taking my fingers on and off of those tho
That sounds so cool! What kalimba is it? Like what brand?
for plain flat ones you just rotate the kalimba to you
Everyone with flat board kalimbas: :(
Sad moment :(
me not knowing what a vibrato is: 📝

Ummm my kalimba doesn’t have a hole
I need something better than a beat up coconut kalimba first :[
Dirty mind activated
