    Iowa was an interesting experience to say the least. Seeing what happens when the track gets that wet and all the effort that goes into making the events happen was very cool and a lot of fun.

    Ed it was awesome to meet you on the grid right before the race!! Glad you enjoyed it! The one weird thing about Iowa is that when we race there, there are no infield seats, so everyone sits on the outside. Every other race we go to, thousands of people are in the paddock each weekend. I’m suprised you noticed that!

    Glad you git to experience the behind scenes stuff at a race Ed. Sometime try going to a road race like Road America, Mid-Ohio
    And feel the relaxed chill . As a spectator there are no fixed seats you can sit anywhere, watch anywhere on the track.
    At R. America you ticket includes parking and free access to the paddock where all the teams are, watch the cars get set up, have the drivers, team owners and celebs just walking around, talk to crew members and the food is the best in racing. It’s a 400 acre wooded park with a 4 mile racetrack winding thru it.
    Great video

    Ed, Arie Luyendyk Jr. is much more than "The Bachelor". He is an accomplished race car and off-road truck driver, a heck of a nice guy and the son of 2-time Indianapolis 500 Winner and Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame inductee Arie Luyendyk, aka "The Flying Dutchman". My son and I had the pleasure of sitting next to Arie Luyendyck Jr. and his teammates at Texas Motor Speedway during a TORC race and he could not have been more cordial with us, even posing with us for selfies. In a world where kids of famous people turn out to be real losers, Arie Jr. deserves RESPECT for how he handles himself and what he has accomplished. It can't be easy following in the footsteps of a father like his, but he is doing a wonderful job be his own man! Enjoyed this video, just like most Ed videos!

    People should probably thumbs up this. If only so vinwiki can show it's value to Honda/other manufacturers and get more experiences.Ed did a good job of advocating for the sponsor while staying within the actual point of a vinwiki video. Honda does do a lot to support racing so it's not as if they don't deserve a little good press or vinwiki good sponsorship/manufacturer relationships. Not good for every video but the occasional well done advert seems fine.

    Hello Ed, I need your help with something. Being so very well spoken as you are, I think if you lead others will follow or at least finally listen?!
    Motor - Anything that provides motive force.
    Engine - Internal combustion "only" to provide a motive force.
    The world has this all mixed up and it half drives me nuts, so it's time to 'fix' the next generation, since this one will do nothing but argue!

    • @kevintucker3354
      @kevintucker3354 5 років тому +1

      External combustion engines were always called engines as well though so it’s not perfectly cut and dried. Old steam locomotives were considered external combustion once the internal combustion engines came on the scene.

    • @Finite-Tuning
      @Finite-Tuning 5 років тому +1

      @@kevintucker3354 That's a good point, I should have said combustion only. Typically, motors are electrical and engines are all about fire and combustion. The world seems to have this all backwards for some reason. No you did not just rebuild your internal cumbustion motor, just as you did not replace your starter engine last week. People have learned a bad habit in this regard, just like concrete and cement, two totally different things but most folks get all backwards.

    Honda is one of the few manufacturers that couldn't give a crap about their old cars. like no longer selling rod bearings, balljoints, ignition coils for the original NSX. they have no problem using it in advertising, but look at you like you have two heads if you try to keep a 25 year old Honda. some manufacturers have dedicated programs to keep vintage cars alive. Porsche has an entire department just for the 959. and don't get me started on their involvement with the import drag-racing community in the late 90s into the 2000s. Having worked as a Honda technician for over 10 years, i do appreciate their quality control. when they fail, they all fail the same. but their lack of support for old cars is why i had 3 BMWs when working at Honda

    I was a fan of Champ Cars or CART growing up, the IRL split from them in 1996, only for both to re-merge in 2008.
    Neither were the original sanctioning body of the Indianapolis 500, and it counted as a points race for Formula 1 in the 50s.
    Legends like Rick Mears, Mario Andretti, Al Unser jr. made their names here. Even Nigel Mansell and Jacques Villeneuve won championships in the 90s.
    CART engines were NOT as heavily regulated, and R&D could progress throughout the season. Which was bad news for poorer organizations.
    1999 was the most dangerous (and exciting) season, as the cars got _too_ _fast_ and caused deaths & injuries, two races on the schedule had an *average* *speed* (!!!!) of over 230MPH, and drivers were struggling with the G-forces at some tracks.
    It remains the high water mark of American open-wheel racing in my eyes.

Cause except civic type r they got nothing but trim packages even for Acura, which used to be more sporty now become like Lexus. Does Honda make decent vehicles, yes . Is it the racing commitment reflected in the product ? Not at all.
