Great tent. I own one. Worth every penny. I can also confirm it stays very cool in the summer months even with the fly on do to the mesh doors being on both sides which creates great airflow.
Gotta disagree with you on one point Ben. Its not light weight but packs small and would be a great backpacking tent. Just remember its good for 3+ people, so ideally you split the parts between the team, or have the other two people carry more of the food and gear, and just you carry the tent. Thats what i do with my son and our Scorpion 3. Thanks for another great review.
Just did a weekend in my Scorpion 3 in Jan. Its great, but need a bit more room for winter gear in Michigan, so i picked up a Cave. It will work great pulled out in sled with all the other winter gear.
Nice review, Ben. I bought a Snugpak Scorpian 3 based on your older review videos on the Scorpian and it has been a great tent. Love Snugpak gear. The Cave may need to be added my wish list.
Thanks for the review, I saw the Wiki review of the tent. They rated it the number one for winter season tent this year. Seeing your review has sold me, on the tent. Looks good for a winter tent. Over all I'm still a Eureka and Outbound fan but I'm willing to give this one a go, as a winter camper. I will likely buy it and try it. It's a fine tent for taking in my pickup truck up North in Northern Camping Conditions. As for the air mats, I wouldn't buy one, there are better on the market that this company will have to compete with. The Mat I currently have has individual self inflating air pockets to adjust more or less air in lumbar for us guys with bad back problems from years of carrying in over weighted camping gear from years ago...lol Anyway, hats off, great much needed review! Glad I came across it!
A lot like my Walrus VeloDome, which is a 3-season tent, but I've camped in the snow with it. I think your tent, proper, has a bigger footprint, until you add on the VeloDome's larger front vestibule, where I can easily set up a full-size camp chair and sit comfortably, while I take off my boots, and the footprint is close to the same, I think. The VeloDome has more of a square vestibule. but without the fly (and its front-and-back vestibules), the VeloDome seems significantly smaller than your 3-man. If you've got it well-ventilated, it doesn't take much more than a gas lantern to knock the chill off.
the Snug pak cave is not a four season tent and not warrenty does not cover damage due to snow and ice . i know because my new cave failed due to snow and ice storm. all 5 dac poles bent , contacted snugpak warrenty they said to buy a new cave the poles cost $225.00 to replace .
Thank you for a great review. How warm is the air mattress that you have to inflate yourself. I would think it wouldn't provide much insulation from the snow.
i have had numerous snugpak products (2 softie jackets, 3 sleeping bags, backpack, inflatable sleeping mat) ... all seemed good, but they dont stand up to regular use that much, before seams/stitching perish, or a zip goes.
neil castell... Yes, I have read about poor stitching on the Snugpak Cave in particular. Quite a few comments of this sort on Amazon, including failures during the first few days. Thus far my Ionosphere one-man "tent" and Jungle sleeping bag have held up, but the poor Amazon reviews on the Cave have made me hesitate to buy it. It's unfortunate, for I really like the design, the spaciousness, the gear storage capabilities and the drab, non-circus colors, but feel I just can't pull the trigger on this. Also, no custom footprint, which it should have for the money.
Fantastic video. Very thorough and you know your stuff! Subscribed and liked! I’m sure you have heard this before, but could I please get a link to the jacket/anorak you’re wearing in this video? Thank you!
I own this tent and have camped in the winter with it and it keeps you pretty warm considering. The only thing I can add is that it isn't as big as it implies. At 6'4" tall I barely fit in it, and i would say anything more than 2 adults is pushing it, you may sleep 4 if your all from China....
Erich Diehl by normal do you mean small? I'm 5 10 tall and if Ohiopreparedness can just fit in at 6 4, that leaves me only 6". A 3" space at either end in a tent I wouldn't call big!
Living Survival I didn't know that if I would have known you had one I would have bought some stuff off you I have been using Brian's from Survival on purpose.
Hey Ben, proforce has no checkout and online retailers says nobody carries this product do you have a link where you bought or maybe because Im in the Philippines I just cant buy from them. Happens sometimes. Ok found it at Brownells.
Living Survival still one of the last things I need is a tent was debating on the bunker for water proofing and 1 man set up if cave is really easy 1 man set up I'm prob gna switch to the cave it looks awsome
All these tents are freezing cold until you put a heater in it, you wouldn’t believe how much warmth you will get out of just burning one candle , the chandelier candle burner should wok well in that tent it even has the thing to hook it on in the center of the tent... these tents can’t compete with a good canvas tent , thus I think the price on this tent is a bit to high
Mr Madman1978 it’s a toss up for me when it comes to sleeping pads. The self inflatables are nice because they are quiet and don’t move. Air mattresses can be more comfortable but sometimes noisy and easier to slip off of.
It may not be a great backpacking tent. But if you can hack it pack it. If the weather gets bad you will enjoy the space. Great video.
Great tent. I own one. Worth every penny. I can also confirm it stays very cool in the summer months even with the fly on do to the mesh doors being on both sides which creates great airflow.
I figured as much, can't wait to try it in the Summer. Thanks for the comment.
just ordered mine, cant wait!
Kick ass review. Definitely looks like something I will be taking a closer look at for winter camping trips with my daughter.
Chase Ezell great for the family.
No annoying music soundtrack, just a good review of a product. (which I already own by the way).....good job.
Thanks Tony...you have already completed the tests and answered almost all my questions about the tent and sleeping pads... job well done
I love this tent nice and cozy for 2 people. A full size air mattress will fit inside. Snugpak makes awesome tents.
Snugpak makes good stuff!! I like your videos!! They are always well thought out and practically presented!!!Keep'em comin' brother!!!

Ive turned so many people on to Snugpak. This stuff is great. I swear by their products.
Nice review, Ben. I bought a Snugpak Scorpian 3 based on your older review videos on the Scorpian and it has been a great tent. Love Snugpak gear. The Cave may need to be added my wish list.
Yeah, Scorpion 3 it amazing.
I have the snugpak lightspeed, sleeping pad.
Awesome piece of gear.
I liked the tent.
Thank you for sharing....
i love watching reviews of snugpak products. thanks for this one!! snugpak are the daddy!!
That's really nice, I've been wanting one of these for some time now.

The Snugpak Cave & Snugpak Bergen 70 + 30L Combo; Quite handy when SHTF 👍

Looks very solid, I’d buy one, sleeping mat looks good, Thanks. Tony
Tony Patey thanks for watching.

Good review. Man People forget to open mote ventililation in the winter so good that you talked about that.
Thank you for a great review. How warm is the air mattress that you have to inflate yourself. I would think it wouldn't provide much insulation from the snow.
Awesome video love this tent will be buying one later when i get the funds
Great video ! I’ve been looking at this tent great to see one set up. Thanks for the great video. Gotta love this Michigan weather.

Great for hauling in on a 4 wheeler or snow machine.
Great Tent ! Love mine
.I like how tough it is and TWO different vestibules = awesome !
And yes up here🇨🇦 heavy winds & snow is a possibility !
Good review.
thanks brother.
Sounds like a great tent
Remember to get the snow away from the sides. Snow drifts can crush in your tent and even make it impossible to dig out. Just saying.
Thank you Blake :)
Looks nice.. might be the ticket for carrying on my mule.. thanks!
Fantastic video. Very thorough and you know your stuff! Subscribed and liked! I’m sure you have heard this before, but could I please get a link to the jacket/anorak you’re wearing in this video? Thank you!
Very nice tent. Thanks Ben!
Cool gear, great review Ben. Thanks!
How much does it cost and are there any chance that you could actually let snow build-up for insulation
just bought myself one!! Thanks Ben always good reviews!
ENjoy.

Erich Diehl I thought I was an average American LOL
Erich Diehl
Its not our fault you're veritcally challenged!
😂😂😂😂
Erich Diehl by normal do you mean small? I'm 5 10 tall and if Ohiopreparedness can just fit in at 6 4, that leaves me only 6". A 3" space at either end in a tent I wouldn't call big!
Dam, so I'm 6'5" and I guess I'm out of luck.
So two adults and two kids
I have one too. Good review! Also....just got my son those Mucks-how do you like yours?
can i fit a standard military cot in there?
Ur narration is great
$671 Canadian includes shipping. Think I will give it a miss no matter how good it is
David Dirom , yikes. Yup, me too. Lots of inexpensive options these days.
Buy once cry once...
That’s like $4.95 American $, right?😎

If you are spending this much on a tent you need to get one with a opening for a stove, so you can heat it.
Where’d you get that cool as beenie man?
Hey Ben. Cant find the mattress on Amazon. Found it on Snugpak site but no way to pay for it.
Never mind. Found it at proforce equipment.
proforce ;)
Living Survival
Nope they had no checkout but had distributors still cant find it. Have a link to proforce?
Snugpak makes great stuff. Great review as always! You should set up a Amazon Canada hyperlink. Thanks for sharing!
i had one but not enough people purchased through it
Living Survival I didn't know that if I would have known you had one I would have bought some stuff off you I have been using Brian's from Survival on purpose.
So its a four person tent but only fits 2?
great review thanks for showing it in the snow
Really like your videos, Ben!
thank you!
I wonder if it has a vestibule? Did he say?
LOL
Lmao
The doctor will give you some cream for that
take a drink every time smashed lol
A very nice review of a very nice tent.
Interesting & Informative thanx
could you tie two of them togheter on using the 'round' zipper?
kinda 'back-to-back'...
Rafael Ramos da Cost
👍🏻 I like this tent
Hey Ben, proforce has no checkout and online retailers says nobody carries this product do you have a link where you bought or maybe because Im in the Philippines I just cant buy from them. Happens sometimes.
Ok found it at Brownells.
Is there enough room for an Army cot?
What type of backpack was that In the beginning
we're u buy that ocp jacket I love it
hiphop2kful snugpak
Very good video my friend, thanks for sharing!
Although I do not own any Snugpak products I wish I did. It all seems very durable & completely over built haha:)
I was wondering if the cave could be easily assembled by 1 person
Easy.
Living Survival still one of the last things I need is a tent was debating on the bunker for water proofing and 1 man set up if cave is really easy 1 man set up I'm prob gna switch to the cave it looks awsome
Living Survival feel like condensation would be way different bunker vs cave I dknw
Nice tent, thanks for sharing
Thanks Ben!
And you finally have ur glasses off thats a good thing man
I like that foot pump mattress, I don't see the link for the mattress
proforce equipment
Very nice man i need a new tent
What kind of jacket are you wearing?
Snugpak.
Prices on all items would have been good
Nice gear!
what's the website?
No pad/mat available sir
All these tents are freezing cold until you put a heater in it, you wouldn’t believe how much warmth you will get out of just burning one candle , the chandelier candle burner should wok well in that tent it even has the thing to hook it on in the center of the tent... these tents can’t compete with a good canvas tent , thus I think the price on this tent is a bit to high
That is impressive!
Link to that sleeping mat with the foot pump?
They are new...www.proforceequipment.com/product-details.php?id=571&catid=24
One solid tent with good ventilation. Great review Ben! Snugpak jacket?
Survival Mindset yes snugpak jacket
Nice! Thanks for the review.
Bought the cave . Because couldn't afford the hillberg 4 man tent 4x more expensive
Enjoy!
Awesome review boss. Love me some snugpak
I love my snugpak stratosphere biwak.
Did I miss it or did you mention how much the tent weighs?
8.9 lbs
Pack Weight 10.4lb / 4.8kg
That's pretty good for a 4 man tent, especially a 4 season.
Sweet tent. I have the Inosphere and it's fantastic.
Which mat is more comfortable out of the two?
Mr Madman1978 it’s a toss up for me when it comes to sleeping pads. The self inflatables are nice because they are quiet and don’t move. Air mattresses can be more comfortable but sometimes noisy and easier to slip off of.
Living Survival thank you sir!
Great review.
great review, very informative
I want one
Yeah i like it
Cool
Nice if two tents could be zipped together. Best
Erich Diehl Yes, though one is more likely than the other.
That was the worst thing you could have done to shake the snow off it’s a natural insulator
Wrong. It causes condensation and weakens the integrity of your shelter.
good uk products
Garden camping.
he said tent 87 times
you counting words? you need a doctor
Vestibule drinking game - You will be out of it by the 4 minute mark
that's a fishing tent
Need a new car camping family tent
this might be it ;)
Solid!
"Vestibules" x1000....seriously, where's the info about its winter weather performance....?
heavy
These tents have a polyster fly, and the ground sheet is very light, way over priced for what they are
Excellent Content n REVIEW!!! Thanks for SHARING!!! :-) :-)
Nice tent, but way too expensive.Good review.
Joel Ohms It's not for homeless people
