As a kid I used to just sit there and explore as much as possible before triggering the incident/experiment, just soaking up all the atmosphere and ambience, even pretending I was going to work that day in-game at other stations/computers/etc, lol. Roleplaying basically within the game :D
The mockup sound for the arcade machine is pretty good. Fits the overall sound design. It also has what I think was the intended effect: drawing the player's attention to that object that is easily missed otherwise.

I wonder if anyone In Black Mesa has ever fully explored every area in the facility. It looks like it sprawls underground for miles and miles of hallways and rooms. I think even Gordon missed a good chunk of the facility since many parts of it were destroyed or inaccessible after the cascade.
@@ManLikeEddy Their combat is terrible as hell, but their voice lines are pretty good. If scientists didn't have such pauses between conversations, then maybe they'd feel more human. Take Black Mesa for example, they feel MUCH more human than HL1
I just love the 90's early 2000's games. the textures. the look and feel. not too realistic it leaves a lot left to the imagination without trying to be photorealistic. love it. miss it, these games will never die.
Anyone else love the aesthetics of Black Mesa? The whole underground laboratory with the tram and all the connecting walkways looks so fun to explore but we're so limited in where we can go. Anyone else want to fund millions of dollars into making a real Black Mesa?

I love these videos. Like you, I always wonder what goes on in places we’re not allowed to go. I use to no clip to these areas and see what is going on. This was my fav tram ride of the series. It really showed the inner workings of blackmesa. I really wish someone would create an actual black Mesa facility prior to alien invasion. An actual Alive and working facility. That Would be amazing.

It depends on how the lines are being played, either scripted or unscripted, but it's usually the animation from one of the parties that delays the response. In this video, the Einstein scientist at 2:00 asks a question to the sitting Luther, but the Luther won't respond until the Einstein walks to his mark and finishes playing his gesturing animation, at which point the game finally registers that Luther is scripted to react.
